Yeah, I noticed that too. Maybe because some translators have had to shift from the stuff that got licensed?

Who's going to translate it? I didn't care much for the series when I read the first novel, but if it means we'll get more translated light novels, I'll buy it.

EDIT: Never mind, just saw the news article.

If this is correct, then does that mean that if SAO does well enough it'll bring the spotlight and gate opening for the other LN's

SAO is terrible though. Are you telling me I have to pin my hopes off decent LN's coming out on crap?

#82
Crap, yes. But popular crap that will be bought by droves of people with poor taste, thus proving to the companies that light novels can sell in the west, and opening the gates for things of actual quality.

It's kind of like a Trojan Horse of shit.

Build a horse out of shit, then smuggle the good stuff inside?

Probably won't mean much for light novels that have already had attempts to bring them west. Like Shakugan no Shana, which had two volumes released and then the license sat on until it expired.

Well, Accel World and Index have a few volumes scheduled for release, so at the very least, they'll be done on their own merits.

Here's to hoping that Moonlight Sculptor will get noticed too...

So, Kamachi's new series will be released in a couple of weeks.

It's called Mitou Shoukan: //Blood Sign and here is the summary:

Summary:
>Summoning ceremonies can freely call forth even "those which lurk in the depths beyond the gods".
>One boy has top-level abilities even among the cutting-edge summoners who can use those ceremonies.
>He is the Unkilling King, Shiroyama Kyousuke.
>But this strongest boy summoner has a single fatal weakness.
>Certain "cursed words" spoken by girls: "Help me."
>When Kyousuke hears those words from Myounokawa Higan, a girl placed in the abyss of death, he throws himself into a city where three great summoner forces clash!
Character Profiles:
Kyousuke Shiroyama
The story's main character. He is a Summoner, affiliated to of one of the Great Three Summoner Powers called "Freedom". He is given Award #902 for his remarkable talent, but he constantly suffers from his uncontrollable urge to assist those who ask for help.

Lu Niang-Lan (Ryu Nian Lan)
A Summoner who belongs to one of the Great Three Summoner Powers, "Illegal". She known by those who fear her as "Soushin Anki" (lit., "weapon concealed in a slim figure"), who can slaughter even experienced Summoners by using weapons hidden in her flesh.

Renge (older) and Higan (younger) Myounokawa
A pair consisting of a Summoner older sister and a Yorishiro (spirit medium) younger sister. They are currently on the run after failing their duties. Higan is separated from Renge and got lost, so Higan asked help from Kyousuke.

Incomplete translation:

Aika or Ayaka (not sure about reading due to many possible interpretations)
A Summoner who belongs to one of the Three Powers, "Government". She is a shut in who seems to call (not sure) Kyousuke "Onii-chan". Has a pet white liger.
That said, none of the girls are the silver haired girl on the cover.

That article said more that SAO had already been brought and was doing sorta well, one of the new ones was Log Horizon, which I approve of because it's basically SAO but better. In my opinion at least.

Well if the novels sell well enough, maybe it will give the incentive that they will distribute the Devil Part-timer LN.

Well, it's official. No Game No Life, Hataraku Maou-sama! and Log Horizon have been lciensed by Yen Press and will start being sold in April 2015. There was another, but I forgot the name.

How good are the translations from Yen Press anyway?

They do Spice & Wolf, and I'm up to 10 on that... haven't noticed any problems.
Seconded. I've got Spice Wolf 1-2 and Haruhi 1-2. Good quality so far.

Anybody read Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari?

It's a Web Novel being translated as one of B.T.'s teaser projects that I recently started reading and...

Am I sadistic since I find a story that spend the first Wave(Volume) dragging the protagonist's through the mud actually enjoyable when there isn't any harem hi-jinks involved?

For those that haven't read it, I'd recommend it. There is a manga for those that would rather read the first Wave that way.

You probably are but so am I. I am waiting for the moment Shield-Bro goes dark and starts whooping butt.

...There may be something wrong with me.

As someone who has read all the posted translated chapters, let me confirm that he does. In fact...

It's pretty much personified in his Cursed Shield series that he originally unlocked after the duel with Motoyasu (Spear) that can only be used when he's in a dark state of mind, and it's later stages are capable of dealing more damage than the other three heroes who were higher level at that moment. His strongest attack so far, Blutopfer (Blood Sacrifice), turned the last opponent all four heroes needed to team together to fight into a bloodly lump of flesh in a single attack.

But yes, Naofumi does get his just due in time.

LNBros... where's the love for the Useless Meat???

Yes, I know DATABASED Mamare-sensei has been working more on Log Horizon lately, but I've been enthralled laltely on his earlier work MaouYuu: Maou Yuusha.

While the detail to characters might not be the best, the world building is fantastic.

My apologies if this is the wrong thread, but this is bothering me and LN discussion seemed the place to ask. I'm looking for a Highschool DXD fanfic wherein rather than a modern human Issei was a low-class devil during the great war, no boosted gear just a single magic trick that did something similar once but ate up all of his incredibly piddling magic. The fic only had a few chapters at the time and mostly focused on showing how terrible the Great War was for the majority of the foot soldiers. There was talk of a time skip? It was ok, not fantastic, but I can't find it and that's bugging me!
