Trying to find a fantasy novel i read years ago but cant remember either the title or author. All I remember is that the main character was a member of a family of powerful psychics, there was some incestuous tones in the family. Also i remember a species of creatures that he encounters, said creatures fought by merging with each each other and through some circumstance i don't remember the main character becomes linked to a particular old and powerful one, that increases his powrs. That if I remember rightly was under some sort of swamp where the main characters lover lived.
