Yea, you might be wondering just what am I gonna rant about. (By the way, if I ever get a rant space, this is probably gonna have to be moved there.)
Well, what I'll talk about may surprise you, as it's about... PokÚmon.
Now, I have two notes to put up here:
1-To haters, I am not going to actually bash it... I think.
2-To lovers, I won't defend it.
You read that? Well, let's go on then.
The main point of this rant is that the media sucks. Yes, you heard me right: the PokÚmon media is one of the worst you can think of. The animÚ, the games, and the mangß are very bad, to the point where the fanfiction manages to be better than the official stuff.
I understand that most of it comes from 4Krap's need to 'kiddify' it, but seriously, it could be alot better. And not just from better translations. Examples?
Games: Well, the inherent contradictions in the plot (we must love them, yet what does the Professor wants us to do?), the lack of development (would it be SO hard to have story-based PokÚmon?), the stupid limiting (not about the split, but the fact that certain ones can't be acquired without a GameShark from either party)...
AnimÚ: No decent story (by that, I mean 'good subplots to distract us from the badgehunting), horrible mismanagement (too much shafting/wrong PokÚmon being too showcased), a HORRIBLE lack of badness (can you TAKE Team Rocket/Magma/Aqua seriously?)...
Mangß: PokÚbots, wrong fanservice, stupid plots, bad characterizations, even WORSE villains...
What I'm mad about is this: the official PokÚmon media is so bad, that the fanfiction is better. If you compare, in general, most original series manage to stay about 50% above the fics in quality (mostly because there aren't enough good fic authors). Exceptions happen for those with odd plots, like SSB/M.
In PokÚmon, this number is far below. Really. There are far too many good PokÚmon fics that highly surpass the original.
So, my point is that the entire media of PokÚmon is b0rk3d.
