Yes, but the difference between many other people and you is that you're fully prepared to carry out those threats, despite any feelings of caring you might have.

Monster.
The whole POINT of making threats is to carry them out. Why else would you make them?

I don't threaten idly. If I threaten you of bodily harm and you ignore my warning, you will get hurt. End of story.

I may be a pacifist, but that doesn't mean I won't kick your ass if you are being stupid. And I don't believe for a minute in that 'offer the other cheek' nonsense the Bible preaches about. If someone's going to attack me, I'm going to pound him into dust before he does. ;)

Exactly, just like most HP authors are doing with HBP (may it burn in Hell along with Ginslut and slash).
To be fair, I don't really dislike the Harry/Ginny pairing all that much. However, Rowling really pulled the whole thing off really shittily.

Even some rabid Harry/Ginny fans hated it.

Not always, it depends on the circumstances.

Then you aren't a pacifist.

My definition of 'pacifist' is 'someone who doesn't make unnecessary use of violence and does not harm the innocent'. I was bullied when I was young, so I'll never do it myself, but the years spent being bullied slowly made me very, VERY intolerant towards jackasses and stupid people in general, so, if I conclude that you'0ve been stupid or a jerk enough to deserve a good drubbing, I'll give it to you.

It's called 'giving people what they deserve'.

Mind you, the bullying stopped when I had a sudden growth spurt and found myself six feet tall at 14. Let's just say the typical bully will not be stupid and pick on people bigger than him. I, on the other hand, used my new size to get the local bullies to stop picking on a few of the, shall we say, nerdier students. I had been through enough mistreatment to be rather unforgiving of such actions, so I protected those in the same situation I used to be in.

What can I say? I'm a strange person.

While that's a good stance to take, it isn't pacifism.

A pacifist is basically someone who abhors violence of any kind, and won't use it any such situation. Ever read the "Wheel of Time" series? The Tinkers are utter pacifists.

Your view is a good one, being more disinclined to use violence unless the situation truly calls for it, but that isn't pacifism in the common definition of the term.

Eh, semantics. I ain't the one starting wars for idiotic reasons, so I like to think of myself as the closest thing to a pacifist you'll find on this miserable dirtball called 'Earth'.

Human nature compels us to hurt others. There's no such thing as a pacifist among us, IMHO. It goes against our genes.

And yes, I'm a rather cynical person.

I suppose being deaf didn't exactly help in the bullying department, but yah, being six foot at 14 definitely helps a little. Out of curiosity how tall are you now, now that you're (we hope) fully grown?

Yah that's definitely not pacifism. Pacifism is when you absolutely refuse to do any violent acts, what you're doing is just mainly a kind of Robin Hood 'protector of the weak' kinda thing. Don't let that 'Robin Hood' comment go to your head though. ;)

I'm 6'11". Almost seven feet tall and with a good 250 pounds on me makes for a rather menacing image, so in general people think twice before messing with me.

I practiced pro wrestling for a bit, before breaking my left knee's ligaments. Was pretty good at it too.

Holy shit, 6'11". *slowly figures out just how much taller that is than Israfel* Wow you've got me beat by quite a bit, and yes I most certainly would not want to meet up with you in a dark alley. And here I was picturing you as this skinny little nerdy type like all the rest of us, nah just kidding guys (I'm certainly not). I come in at around 6'2 or 6'3 and weigh about 160 pounds so I'm quite slim. I have longish brown hair and really dark brown eyes (though I normally wear my Sharingan contacts) and I'm very pale, to the point that I can trace my veins from wrist back to my chest. So there's my numbers for everyone ;) .

More game fanfic ideas/pairings.

-Suikoden II, Flik/Nina. What if the feisty young student actually broke through the sorrow in the Blue Lightning's heart?

-Suikoden II, Riou/Wakaba. We all know Wakaba has a bit of a crush on Riou, since she admires strong people. Could it become something more?

-Suikoden III. What if it had been Hugo and not Lulu who died in that fateful attack on Karaya Village? (DARKFIC IDEA)

-Suikoden IV, Lazlo/Millay. What if the young bodyguard chose to share the Punishment Rune's bearer's fate? And what if both barely managed to survive their ordeal, ending up on the same deserted island that the young hero lived on for a little while?

-Star Ocean 3, Fayt/Misty Lear. Just a crack pairing idea. The young hero and the sensual alchemist.

-Final Fantasy Tactics, Ramza/Agrias. Agrias's feelings for Ramza are obvious, but she never acted on them. What if she did?

-Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones, Joshua/L'Arachel. A handsome swordmaster and a hyper princess. Can something be born of this unlikely pair?

-Fire Emblem, Lyndis/Ephidel. What would have happened, had the Sacaean beauty actually sparked unknown feelings in the Morph's heart?

-Shadow the Hedgehog. What if Maria Robotnik hadn't died? What would have become of Shadow then?

-Tales of Phantasia. An introspective piece on Dhaos's feelings about the genocide he's about to commit and his love for his own planet.

Feel free to grab any of these ideas and run with it.

Ooh, I love Misty Lear, she's awesome, I will love anyone who does this, in fact I just might do this myself because as soon as I read this I started getting an idea of how I could do this, in fact I might get to work on this rather soon actually, my inspiration has been enflamed by this story and I feel a burst of writing coming on, YOSH!!!

ACtually, that is pasivism.

It means you bend over when there is trouble. A pacifist, wont be looking for trouble, but when trouble finds him...

People love to confuse both, a real shame...

Some would call it 'apathy'. Refusing to take a stance and just passively taking everything counts as apathetic behaviour.

Uhm... Not really. Granted, extreme passivism can mean that, but it's (to my knowledge) not usually used under that context.

Here. Just to settle this before it gets any worse, the official definition.

pacÀiÀfism ( P ) Pronunciation Key (ps-fzm)
n.
The belief that disputes between nations should and can be settled peacefully.

Extreme opposition to war or violence as a means of resolving disputes.
Such opposition demonstrated by refusal to participate in any military action.

...? I was talking about passivism, not pacifism. Also, just because it's the official definition, doesn't always mean itÆs the common definition. It's still correct, of course, but it's still used otherwise at times.

Ah gotchya, I thought we were still on about the correct meaning of pacifist which is why I pulled out the last resort, the dictionary.

One more game fanfic idea:

-Phantasy Star II: what if Nei and Neifirst settled their differences in a pacific way instead of killing each other?

Then unless it was written well it would end up like every other 'two opposed characters finally see reason and settle their differences' fics. Also I think you meant 'peaceful' and not 'pacific', unless you're talking about the ocean? Sorry I'm still in 'betaing' mode from Fatuous One's fic.

Meh, peaceful, pacific. You do know the Ocean was called that way for a reason, right? Pacific is an actual word.

Anyway, Neifirst is Nei's worst side, essentially the dark half of her. She doesn't really believe in peace, so to speak. I was thinking more along the lines of the two tolerating each other's continued existence out of self-preservation. Not really peaceful, since the two'd still get into fights and whatnot, but at least they won't gut each other on the spot.

Meh, you could do it, I just don't see how you'd pull a full story out of that.

Keep in mind that Neifirst flat out states she HATES being used. It'd be... interesting, to say the least... how she'd react to finding out everyone from the Earthlings to Mother Brain and Dark Force manipulated her.

It's just a thought. *shrug*

Hmm, yah I suppose you could do that, you'd just have to hash out a bit more of a plot line for it and you could probably make a decently workable fic out of it. Be rather interesting to see.

A couple more fic ideas/pairings:

-Star Ocean 3: Fayt/Stanice, Fayt/Mirage, and an AU where Nel Zelpher and Albel Nox switched places (ie, Albel worked for Aquaria, Nel for Airyglyph).

-Star Ocean 2: Ashton/Opera. You know you want to try. :p

-Tales of Symphonia: Lloyd/Sheena.

-Final Fantasy IV: Kain/Valvalis. The pairing just... feels right given their dialogue in the Valvalis battle.
