I see. Thanks for the link. Although... unless Shirotsume outright rejects the nomination, that still means he's eligible for admin with the format outline in the first post. You don't need confirmation of the person in question to nominate them, just one person nominating, and then another seconding.

There are two ways someone is eligible.

If someone nominates themselves, they need someone to second it.

If someone nominates someone else, that nominee must accept it.

One way or another, a person must wish to be mod or admin, either by suggesting them self or accepting it.


And I do decline any nominations for admin or mod. I said I would be passing on admin, and I'm staying to my word.

EDIT: And to make things clear, this is running by my local time. We still have roughly an hour left.

I see... I misread the first post then, and the pool of candidate is a hell of a lot smaller than I thought, because many of the people who have been nominated have not confirmed themselves (Such as Altered Nova, daniel_gudman for mod, and more) despite seeming to be alright with being in the running. If the confirmations absolutely need to be in that format, I can probably shave off around half the current list I had above.

Okay, as we're down to ~30 minutes 'til closing, I'm nominating myself for backup admin in a desperate attempt to at least have better than a two out of three voting scenario. I'm a software engineer, I've been a forum admin before (IPB), and I've been visiting this board near daily for 4+ years, to present some form of credentials.

Well, I mean, Altered Nova said he was honored to be nominated by gudman, but he never actually said "confirming/seconding: Altered Nova, Position: Moderator" or anything. Nor did gudman say anything about mod, let alone admin. ThreadWeaver, despite being nominated by two people (one of whom asked if Weaver would be alright with being nominated and got an okay there) never made a post in the thread at all. So... yeah.

It's all pretty much moot right now since most of those people are apparently offline, and the time limit is just about up.

I have a question:

Will we let a person become BOTH the admin and a mod?

I am in favor of keeping the two responsibilities separate. At least, what I'm hoping for is that if whoever wins the admin position also wins the mod election, could they step down from mod responsibilities? This only effects @[Vexarian], @[Watashiwa] and @[The Ero-Sennin].

Any opinions you guys? I'm not demanding it. Just a personal preference. Or is the suggestion idiotic to begin with?

No, they cannot be both, because an admin is everything a mod is, and then some. In other words, they would be by default.

Sadface that no one seconded me, but I didn't really nominate myself until pretty late into things.


And I'm not really bothered since the mod list isn't looking too shabby. Now to wait and see what comes next.
