Oops, more than two days, but I went and dealt with the report anyway.
I also hit the thread necro-er with a warning since they seemed to have done so intentionally and didn't seem particularly contrite. We spoke, and although I have yet to respond to their latest I plan to with some variation of this post.
Basically, TFF has a lot of old content. A lot of it was written by people who moved on to other things and left works unfinished. It's always sad to see the line of threads from years ago because it means that TFF is an old forum but not an active one. Seeing any of the old names, author or thread, pop back up is occasion for excitement. Realizing it's not them or a story is disappointing. Finding out that the bump is continuing an old argument or fandom disagreement is downright insulting.
The person in question believes they were promoting dialogue and activity in the thread. Unfortunately, they were instead called out and the threads remain dead. Rather than necro dead threads and get peoples hopes up, I would much prefer you create new threads. Yes it's harder to get attention, but it's easier to keep the momentum going once you do, because the subject stays the subject and doesn't turn into people yelling at you.
Anyway, this is my late explanation for what I did.
