It was another near-perfect day on the moon she currently called home. Not that she even knew where the moon was located or what system she was in. All she knew was that the weather and climate were nice, the technology to communicate with the rest of the galaxy was non-existent, and she would most likely die there of old age, set aside and for-

No. Not forgotten. If her Master had truly forgotten everything of who he was she would have been dead these last fifteen years rather than just stranded here with an entire regiment of the 501st that all but catered to her every whim and swore they would die to protect her.

In some ways that made things all the more painful for the young Togruta beauty. There was still some of her Master deep down in there somewhere that Sidious could not corrupt, but the... jerk was too stubborn and afraid to come see her and let her try to bring it out of him.

Ahsoka still remembered the day the world went mad, or maybe finished going mad would be a better way to describe it. The day Order 66 came down and the Clones of the Galactic Republic's army turned on their Jedi commanders on the orders of Palpatine as he crowned himself Emperor.

*****

It was a boring day in the Jedi Temple for Ahsoka Tano, padawan learner to the famous Anakin Skywalker, the "Hero with no Fear," as she helped to organize supply runs. Actually, it was busy work Skyguy has stuck her with because he didn't want to risk losing her to the most recent battle with the sleemo Grievous after she had sustained several moderate injuries in their last mission. The outright babying would have chafed if it wasn't just so like her Master to put himself in danger to protect her.

And honestly, having Rex and a few of the other senior members of the 501st join her after the battle had been finished was a nice surprise. She had been a commander with the clone troopers under her Master's command for years and had developed close friendships with many of them. Although she wondered why Rex seemed to refuse to look her in the eye as she bantered with the somewhat stoic Troop commander.

She had no warning at all of what was to some as a communique came in that actually left Rex a little pale as he looked over at Ahsoka.

"Something wrong, Rex?" she asked as she looked up from the requisition manifest she was working on. Honestly, how many spare parts for the Angel did Skyguy need?

"New orders, sir. Straight from the Chancellor," Rex replied automatically.

"Sounds important," Ahsoka responded with a frown.

"Critical," Rex replied somberly.

"Well what are they?" Ahsoka asked as she began to wonder at the feeling of dread and panic raising within her through the Force. Had something happened. Was Skyguy hurt? Or worse... dead?

Rex was about to respond before his comm went off again and he paused to answer it. His posture visibly relaxed as he replied, "Understood General. We'll meet up at the rendezvous point after the initial meeting is handled."

"What is it? Was that Master Skywalker?" Ahsoka asked anxiously as her worry for her Master began to gnaw at her.

Any reply from Rex was cut short as the Temple seemed to suddenly explode into chaos as the sound of blaster fire filled the air. "What in name of the Force?" Ahsoke asked herself as she ran to a window the looked into the Temple proper. What she saw confused and horrified her as clones were attacking the Jedi everywhere she looked.

She never even though to look back at Rex and the others with her before the stun bolt his her in the back and she fell unconscious. The last thing she heard sounded almost like Rex, or maybe even her Master, as he said "Sorry Ahsoka. I promise this will all be better when you wake up."

*****

It turned out that when she woke up was some three months later as he was kept carefully sedated and hidden away from everyone but the senior most members of the 501st on the orders of her Master, now called Darth Vader. He had ordered her brought to this sanctuary moon, hidden away out beyond the Rim and cut off from any means of interstellar communication or travel. A house, almost an estate really, was built there over the course of the next year and the clones catered to her every desire save her freedom.

She was told of Order 66 and how the Jedi were considered traitors now and how Anakin had saved her by ordering Rex to take her in alive and unconscious. She was told of his injuries and shown a holo of the suit he was forced to wear because of a duel with Master Obi-Wan. And she was told of the death of his wife, supposedly as a result of Obi-Wan's and Anakin's battle. She wasn't sure she believed that last one, since the report was put out be Palpatine directly.

She wanted to hate Obi-Wan in the first moments of seeing that suit, of seeing what he had done to HIS padawan. Even after falling to the Darkside Skyguy did everything he could to protect her, but Obi-Wan outright MUTILATES Anakin? But, it wasn't the Jedi way to hate and some small part of Ahsoka thought Skyguy would be disappointed in her if she went down that path no matter what the circumstances.

So, she settled into a routine, directing clones, growing crops and raising farm animals enough to keep them all fed, and looking out the windows with nothing but her memories to give her hope. Hope that one day her Master would walk up the path leading to her front door, perhaps even without that awful suit, and look her in the eye. Hope that she could see him again, hug him, and try to take his pain away.

Well before she smacked him in the head for listening to Palpatine, anyway. And for NOT telling her he was married (I mean it's not like Ahsoka was interested in him romantically. He was something in between a big brother and a father figure to her. But still, she should have been kept in the loop. It's not like she would have ratted him out.) And for a lot of other things that were her prerogative both as a woman and his charge.

But mostly she just waited to make things right again. And that hope refused to die in her. She just prayed the Force listened to her pleas and gave her that chance...

Someday.

It's a rather interesting idea, and does open the question of what happened to her.

Well I doubt this is the canon way things will be handled. This is kind of my "Twilight Lord of the Sith" version, which I should have made a little more clear when I started. I'm not sure if I should leave it here or expand it to cover various points in time such as the arrival of Padme's surviving handmaiden's that Vader rescued, and Anakin's eventual arrival in the manner Ahsoka predicted in the end.

I'd like to see it expanded.

The subtitle (though not the fic itself, really) reminds me of a fic that's been in the back of my minds for a while, now, with Ahsoka wandering the galaxy in the freighter Twilight, pretending to be a random Togruta adventurer. One day, she sets down on Tatooine, and picks up a sixteen year old hitchhiker named Luke...
