As for what I'll carry mainly anything I need to but on occasion a shit ton of weapons and ammo. Gotta be ready for shit. Zombies, sparkly vampires, the British coming for that bit of back taxes, the Koreans, the mother in law, my ex's, and can't forget those damn velociraptors.
Heh.. I'd say the mother in law and the exes are the biggest worry for now. At least that is if you're still in Hawaii. I'd think the zombies and vampires would be found out on the long flight there. If the Koreans actually manage to get a long range bungee cord launch of one of their dirty nukes, then you might be in danger, but I'd think they'd aim for Alaska first since it's closer.

Actually, if you're in Hawaii, use some of that to aim for the PETA folks and then go get yourself a wild pig or twenty and help the locals cull the wild herd.

Nice Truck though.

Actually I tend to kill one of the wild pigs out here about once every two weeks or so and give it to some of the junior enlisted that are married, poor bastards don't make as much as I do but I try to be the good sgt and help out.

More than a hundred-fifty large for a fucking Prius ($154,000). A hundred thirty grand for a fucking Accord. Over three hundred grand for a BMW 6-series ($330,000), exact model unknown.

Uh, yeah. That is the moral of the story.

The whole brake assembly on a NEW truck fell apart, or just the rotor? Damn, nice to see US vehicles are still falling short on quality.

My 2002 GMC came out of the factory with a cable harness in the dashboard crimped and shorted. Turned the lights on the first time and the whole dashboard goes dark. Turns out the factory shoved a 20amp fuse in a 15 amp socket so they wouldn't have to bother fixing it on the line.

It was a used truck I bought, and the rotor had been used so much it fell apart.

Edit: fucking autocorrect on my damn phone wrote fell as feel

My brother found a '97 Volvo 850 T-5 wagon near him in California. He knows people that work on Volvo's so they will make sure everything is good to go. What I need to know is would platinum spark plugs like the Bosch Platinum work better for it instead of copper core plugs? Also I need to know what grade of motor oil would work best since I need a oil that can handle Michigan summers and winter? So far I have been told to use Mobil 1 High Mileage synthetic but I want to know my other options for synthetic oil.

Looking at Michigan's temperature averages, Which if what I googled is correct it seems that you range from 14F to 83F (-10C to 30c). On this basis I would recommend a 15w40 type oil. -15 degrees winter up to 40 degrees summer ( standards run in Celsius go figure ).
Stick with Mobil one or Penright both are OK.
I would recommend the Bosch FR56 type platinum plug. I am led to believe that it gives better cold start performance. I would be leery about using Champion plugs and never Motorcraft plugs. Damm things get seized into alloy heads. As the saying goes is good is better is Bosch.
Volvo 850 specifications.
Hope this helps

In the Lower Pen of Michigan, you don't get any colder than we do here in the southern half of MN. Most GM vehicles here use 5w-30 all year round since the oil qualities have gotten better.

But, it looks like that car would do better with 10w-30 until winter hits, then switch over to 5w-30.

I doubt weather ever really gets to lower than -20 there, so you could use 10w-30 all year round. In northern MN it regularly gets down to -40 in January so that wouldn't work here.

Actually, looking it up, Detroit, even at their record lows, never got below -21 (as opposed to the -38 record here), so you can technically go with 10w-30 year round, but I'd use 5w in the winter, just in case.

I would use the Bosch Platinum plugs as well.

My sisters and I got our new car today. A black Peugeot 208. It's awesome. :D
I once... a long time back after high school in the mid 1990's, I was tempted to get a Peugeot station wagon imported... I liked the car and driver review at the time that much... but when I realized the issues I would face with the concept... I gave up the idea...

About 5 years later, I was tempted again, though at that point it was a GM car that the then upcoming Saturn L series was to be based off of. Again gave up after learning of to issues doing so...

That was when I started getting Subaru's.

Though now with their changed lineup, they have no actual station wagon... The Impreza is a hatchback, the Legacy whether they call it so or not is a SUV... I get station wagons...

Unless something changes when I next go to buy, it is very likely the next car will be a Volkswagon Jetta Sportwagon...

My father in law absolutely adores those things. He's got two of 'em. Plenty of leg room in the front, as long as no one sits behind you, especially when you're 6'7" like he is. The manual diesel version gets 45+MPG. This last weekend he was getting 47MPG.

Deeeee-ammmmmn.

Not a lot of cargo room in the back though...

The Legacy (my 2007 and the larger current Outback model) has more cargo room than the Jetta.... but the current offering is more like an SUV than a station wagon, no matter what Subaru itself is calling it.

The Passat wagon would have been near perfect, if Volkswagon was not bound and determined to way overprice the things...

In any case, I'm not ready to buy, maybe in a couple more years, as my current Subaru is holding up well, though I have to clean it. Only actual annoyance with it is I have a bit of converter rattle I'll need to do something about if it gets worse.

Of course the model lineups are likely to change at both Volkswagon and Subaru by the time I'm ready to buy....

I drive for some of the car dealers here in Jackson and usually there are days where I have to pick a vehicle up in Grand Rapids or Flint and other days I have to drive a vehicle to Toledo or Ft. Wayne. So far the best vehicles I have driven have been the Chevy Impala, Chevy Malibu, Chevy Traverse, Chevy Equinox, Buick Lacrosse, Ford Mustang GT 5.0, Ford Explorer, and a Chevy Avalanche. The lamest I have driven have been the Chevy Aveo(No cruise control despite being a automatic), Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab Hemi, Jeep Wrangler(Had a automatic transmission but no cruise control), and a GMC Sierra 4X4(Transmission cooler line blew when I was getting off the highway here in Jackson), and a Chrysler PT Cruiser.

I've driven a Malibu and a Cobalt... the Malibu insulated everything great, but the steering felt dreadful to me... The cobalt actually felt a bit better in steering, but road insulation not near as good... I'm turned off to GM's though. Especially after my brothers experiences with their customer support over issues with his Cobalt... In the end he actually got rid of it and bought a Hyundai Elantra.

For Ford products overall... their redesigns at Ford and Mazda actually eliminated some of the last vehicles I liked from them.

Really, most station wagons these days are truly hatchbacks or SUVs the makers are thinking customers may mistake for a station wagon...

About the only vehicles currently available that come to mind that would suit my mix of needs and desires are the Volkswagon Jetta/Passat, the Audi A3 5 dr hatch, the Mazda3 5dr hatch, the Subaru Impreza 5dr hatch, and the Volvo V50. The Passat Volkswagon pricing on it is just stupid. The Mazda3 and Subaru Impreza are a little smaller than desired and cannot hold as much as a true station wagon but would do if I was forced. The Volvo V50 pricing is a bit high for what you get in my opinion, but acceptable. Leaving the cheaper Jetta as about he best true to correct form factor station wagon I would be willing to shell out for. Audi's a3 is pricy, but for all intents is a Jetta wagon in a slightly different form factor and engine despite them calling it a hatchback. Merely would need to equip one of these with roof rack, mud flaps, bumper corner moldings, cargo area mat, and underside shielding....

If I had to go with a small SUV, which I would be very disappointed in doing... it would almost certainly be a Forester, though Subaru has a new one out I've not tried yet called a XV-Crosstrek which is basically a beefier Impreza.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me the best way to search for a Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser, Buick Roadmaster, Chevy Caprice, Ford Country Squire, or a Mercury Colony Park Wagon? I figure a wagon would work well for hauling stuff for my jobs or for hauling small scrap metal.

The main issue is none of those are in production... nowadays... people prefer SUVs or minivans to wagons. Sad, as I prefer wagons myself, though I prefer midsize/compact ones, not small or large ones.

Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser- last year 1992
Chevy Caprice - last year 1996
Buick Roadmaster - last year 1996
Ford Country Squire/Mercury Colony Park Wagons - last year 1991

However, one site comes to mind.

www.autotrader.com

That site allows you to seach by make, model, body type (ex. only wagons), price, year, and distance from your zip code. And allows for three searches at same time..

Merely go to site, put in zip code... and try it out.

Note, you may have to widen the default search parameters of 25 miles.

Trying your parameters, I found one of those vehicles within 100 miles of me for sale.

Realistically... it depends on how much interior space you need or whether hauling scrap is the only use the vehicle would be put to.

For merely hauling scrap on a small scale... might be better served by a minivan, like a mini dodge ram van, which is a stripped Dodge Caravan but sold for cheaper. for slightly larger needs a old style Chevy Astro might be better, as while more van like than minivan like, and not as comfortable, it had a better rep for heavier hauling.

Well guys I found out it will cost $2592 to fix the damage to my truck. Thank god I'm not paying a single cent of it since I wasn't at fault.

Hope your getting a hire/loan car out of them as well.

After watching a lot of US car repair shows, I hope they aren't filling it full of Bondo and troweling it like concrete. :snigger:

Poor bastard has to pay both my deductible and his. One of the reasons I have full coverage is that my insurance covers a rental up to 30 days.

But anyways they are replacing both doors and the guard above the tire.

The doors were torn up bad inside and have to be replaced.
