I was wondering if anyone can tell me the best way to search for a Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser, Buick Roadmaster, Chevy Caprice, Ford Country Squire, or a Mercury Colony Park Wagon? I figure a wagon would work well for hauling stuff for my jobs or for hauling small scrap metal.
you can also try cars.com

I need some help. I currently have a Nissan Altima 2009. This light showed up a few days ago and I for the life of me can not find out what the hell it's pointing to. There is nothing in no manuel's anywhere with that light and frankly it's driving me nuts. So far it's not impeding any car functions as far as I can tell.

Any of you know what this devil spawn is?

I got a '92 Lincoln Town Car a few days ago thanks to my mom and my sister since my brother in California couldn't get his head out of his ass and get me a vehicle. What I need to know is where would the best place be to get a paint job done? I want to keep the factory color and I will be calling a Lincoln dealer and have them run the VIN so I can get the paint code and I don't want to spend a obscene amount of money so I was thinking about talking to MAACO or some independent shops.

You want to paint a 22+ year old car? Even with the paint code it is not going to match exactly, time changes a cars shade and color a bit.

You do not need to contact Lincoln: The Lincoln color code can be located in the driver side door jamb. It is two digits long and consists of numbers and/or letters.

It would probably be cheaper just to get it repainted in as close to the color it should be, rather than pay extra to try to exactly match a 22 year old formula.

Per one site carrying touch up paint for it (automotive touchup), below were the available colors: I think the codes are both specific to their paint mix and the manufacturer codes. You would have to determine that, since I do not know your code.

CD, M6421A Woodrose Metallic
ER, M6445A Dark Cranberry Met./Dark Cranberry Metallic
EW, M6443A Light Cranberry Met./Light Cranberry Metallic
EX, M6444A Medium Cranberry Metallic
KB, M6446A Medium Amethst Frst Metallic/Medium Amethst Frost Metallic
M6290A, MK Twilight Blue Metallic/Twilight Blue Met.
M6401A, YX Titanium Frost Met./Titanium Frost Metallic

M6415A, MD Clear Blue Frost Metallic/Clear Crystal Blue Frost Metal/Clr Crstl Blu Frst M

I called a Lincoln dealer in Ann Arbor and they were able to run the VIN and get me the code since the front driver side door was replaced before I got the car. The code ended up being YX/M6401A. Now the fun part will be trying to find a color close to it or I might go with Burgundy, Black, or Ford Blue.

Then, using that code to the colors I posted, your car is or was a titanium frost metallic, or a off silver/grey type.

Again, if you are painting the whole car, you are just better off getting a generic similar color, trying to pay extra to exact match it does not make much sense to me.

The only reason to push for a similar color is if it ever wears or chips... you have a similar color under it, also, all the records for that car have its original color in it, while you certainly can change it, it can be a bit of a pain record wise.

So my truck is on a boat right now on its way from Honolulu, HI to Charleston, SC. Army gave me a choice between Atlanta or Charleston and I chose Charleston due to i know for a fact how bad the traffic is in Atlanta.

good news is im getting rid of this ugly ass plate.

and going with just a single plate on the back of my truck changed to this.

changing that damned front hawaii plate to this.

i have no clue what hawaii was thinking when they made that plate design.

i know florida made it so only veterans who produce actual proof of deploying to afghanistan can get that plate and its free.

The Florida plate is nice.

I really like the fish 'n flag one, though.

IIRC, the state you are in does not actually require front plates.

Consider yourself lucky to have the option. Ohio is one that does... for you to use either, you would need to mount the real one, and the fake, or you can get cited...

It is not as esay, nor as desirable on a modern car, as it used to be decades ago, to mount multiple plates.

i know i dont require front plates in FL, hawaii required me to mount a front plate while i was there. so im changing the front one to a personal plate on the front.

I got a estimate from MAACO for a paint job for my Town Car and I got a bad case of sticker shock. They told me that it would cost around $1,500 to paint the car black but the reason why it is that much is because of all of the sanding that needs to be done before it can be painted. I will have to keep looking around and get different estimates.

That's actually a pretty good price. It's more expensive than that here in MN, IIRC.

Most of the labor (and therefore cost) is in the prep, sanding and taping work that has to be done prior to the actual painting.

A few questions. When I decide to have a tune up done should I use copper core plugs or upgrade to platinum or iridium plugs and should I use plug wires that are designed to handle high heat? And when I have to get the oil changed should I go with a synthetic like Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec? I do plan on using the Motorcraft oil filter so I can try to keep it OEM. The engine is a 4.6 liter V8.

My own recommendations...

Look up the correct plugs for that car and get the equivalent, do not bother with high performance plugs. you can get your brand of choice, most big plug makers make for all models. Champion, Nippondenso, Autolite, etc.. I generally stick to first two depending on car. EDIT: Almost forgot, remember to correctly gap those plugs before installation.

Unless you need wires due to corrosion or age or they look ratty or something, do not replace them.

If the car had synthetic before, get it, if did not, don't. If do not know, you should be safe with synthetic. The problem is once you start using synthetic, most experts agree you really need to continue to do so. Also, make absolutely sure, if either switching to synthetic, or getting it because do not know, that you replace that oil filter. Some people like to keep them and replace every other time, but do not do so if switching the type of oil in the car.

Also, if doing a full tune-up, especially on a car for the first time, replace oil, air, and if applicable gas filter. I try to use Fram for filters, but Ford is big on motorcraft.

so after all the crap i went through trying to get my truck, ya'll wont believe this shit.
so sit right back and be regaled with this tale of stupidity, anger, lies and bullshit.

so begins in may when i had to decide where to ship my truck original choice was orlando since i live less then an hour away. turns out the new company closed that one in order to save money. ok i can deal with this.

i had a choice between charleston or atlanta. hard choice there so i went with charleston. easy enough.

june 10th comes and its time to ship my truck everything goes smoothly at this point. truck goes through inspection with no issues and i leave the island shortly after. fast forward 3 weeks and it says my truck reached L.A. on the 19th of june. and after that the website said no more movement at all.

required delivery date of 13 july comes and passes and all i get is an email saying my truck may be late. i call and call and call IAL with no answer for a while. finally i get through to somebody in charleston about my truck. this is around the 28th of july and they tell me my truck will be there soon as it is either waiting to be loaded on a truck or is on its way.

1 more week passes still no word from charleston so i call them again on the 4th of august and tell them the problems i have had.now heres the WTFH moment that i went ballistic beyond the previous time. and im not talking about head exploding angry. i went full on Krakatoa on them after finding out that my truck had BEEN AT THE CHARLESTON VPC SINCE THE FUCKING 13TH OF JULY READY FOR PICKUP!!!!!

turns out they had fired the person that was supposed to be sending out notifications to people cause she was never doing it and marking us as having been notified. and the previous poeple spoken to before had known my truck was there and had opted not to inform me.

so i headed up on the 14th and got my truck on the 15th. so i got home today and immediatly registered my truck in fl and got rid of those nasty hawaii tags.

also hmmm that name at the bottom of the article looks familar.

Seriously.... damn.

Well... at least you got it back.

If ever have to ship it again, it may be actually worth considering what if any alternatives there are.

That is a pretty awesome looking truck (not my personal style, but that is besides the point), and I know you loved it. It would have sucked if something did happen to it, no matter the liability or culpability involved.

They should have hired Reliable Carriers, United Road, Allied Systems, Cassens, or Jackie Cooper to transport military vehicles if it was going into that big of a cluster fuck. Reliable has their main office here in Michigan but they have a office in Orlando, Phoenix, and Los Angeles.

I found out that I need to get the transmission fixed in my Town Car. I am looking at $123 for a rebuild kit or $1,300 for a remanufactured transmission. A local repair shop will charge me $800 to pull the transmission and rebuild it if I provide the parts and transmission fluid. Luckily it's a Ford AOD transmission.

Good News!

I recently made the last and final payment on my truck!

What a glorious feeling it is to know that something is yours, and that no-one can (legally) take something away from you.
