My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Idea Megathread

Here's an idea from Twilight's Kingdom. Watching it again, I noticed something, when the Mane 6, minus Twilight, are drained and in the cage, their eyes are all grey like all the other ponies that lost their magic...Except Spike, whose eyes are still green...

Then Twilight starts teleporting all around and ends up on top of a herd of buffalo, still stampeding like nothing's wrong...

Maybe Tirek can't take magic from non-ponies (Discord being part pony, or at least having pony parts)

So now, with the ponies felled, it's up to the other races of Equestria, Dragons, Gryphons, Zebras, and so on, to stand together and face down Tirek

In the author's notes of a certain fanfic, I ran into this little gem of headcanon about the sun's make-up.

(2) Based on the comic canon of the moon having life, which therefore gives me the right to say that the sun is not a hot ball of gas, but rather a planet of glowing trees, lava lakes, and sunspots, which are actually great black rocks protruding from the surface.

...Now I have a new headcannon for where the fire alien from the first Ben 10 series originated from.

After reading some fic's, I got a idea for a human in Equestria fic by mixing some elements from some of the fics I have read, a interdimensional reality show snatches a human and inserts them into Equestria about a month before the first season. The human knows the plot up to the beginning of season 4, where they are put is a small cave hidden in the Everfree Forest. The cave is their home base, they are given basic survival gear, what they had on them when they got kidnapped, and either a bracelet or a ring that acts as a kind of pipboy that only they can see. They recieve missions both long an short term through the ring/bracelet, also able to
purchase supplies, upgrades to their homebase, among other stuff through points they earn. What they get if they win the reality show is going home, all the items they collected, abilities they earned, and a wish within reason. And if they fail enough missions or break the major rules that are given to them, they are transported to a very hostile world where just surviving for a day is a achievement.
The Missions are in the vain of like:
The first Major Mission would be to witness Nightmare Moon's return and Luna's redemption with a optional side to it of the human making it to the castle before Nightmare Moon.
Minor missions would be like helping a pony without being seen, fixing broken items for ponies, retrieving items for ponies(like herbs for Zecora), etc.
The first Minor missions would be make the cave livable, find natural supplies like berrie bushes and drinkable water source, obtain a weapon, learn how to use the bracelet/ring, etc.
Other Major/Minor missions could be like steal a book from Twilights library, steal a book about certain subjects from the restricted area in the castle during the changling invasion, or choice missions like make sure Trixie's wagon isn't destroy or steal her cape and hat from the wreckage.
One of the first long term missions is act like a animal around ponies which would end near the beginning of season 3, which the human doesn't know.
A side Major mission could be bring peace between Changlings and Ponies, make their own nation, or defeat certain oppents.
The timeline of the seasons is: Season One is about six months, season two begins near the end of spring an is about one year, season three begins in summer but is only about three to six months long.
The rules set for the human are:
Major rules
1.The human must not let the ponies know that they are intelligent.(which would later be retracted before the begining of season 3)
2.The ponies can not find out about ethier their own show or the reality show.
3.The human may not harm any non-fighters on purpose, or kill any sapience life even if it's an accident.(This is to challenge the human, not out of any morals)

Minor rules:Breaking of these results in either points lost from total, reduction in rewards for missions, penalties being applied to future missions or to the human.
1.The ponies can not find home base. Results in all penalties being applied, an the destruction of the home base with all items inside, and a new home base being made in a even worst location in the everfree.
2.No sapience life must come to harm while the human is around them.(Them being jerks)Penalties depends on the harm done. Paper cuts, hitting head on something, etc, results in one point lost.
3.Stealth is key to almost everything, getting caught by ponies in towns, cities results in points lost. If found in restricted areas other penalties applied.
4.After Major Missions they must do a pose and say a quote that applies to the situation. Penalties are applied to next major mission if not done.

The bracelet/ring functions:
Mission Briefs
Automap
Upgrades
Shop
Journal
Communication

Upgrades:
1.Small boosts to the human that are either permanent or temporaly.
2.Adding or upgrades to the functions of the bracelet/ring.
3.Upgrading homebase
4.Upgrading items bought, earn, and stolen for homebase.

Shop
1.Daily supplies.
2.Entertainment
3.Functionality for homebase.
4.Knowledge that is downloaded into the human. (Like green belt in karate, but the human must practice before they are able to use it) or at a cost of atleast ten times the original purchase price instantly able to do it.
5.Weapons/armor
6.Magical Items
7.One use abilites(these cost atleast 100,000 points) But the human can get instant heal, revive, temp. god mode, powerful spells, etc.

Sorry if theirs spelling errors and if some stuff are incomplete. Currently posting this without much sleep.

Sounds interesting, though it might be better if the human is unaware of the MLP universe, but has more leniency.

Like if his/her home base is discovered by accident (like Zecora stumbling upon looking for herbs or Dash crashing into it), or an animal/pony dies due to something no related to him/her (i.e. fell down a cliff to their demise while the human was in the area), the point deduction/penalty is far lower; and early (and easier) missions could be to locate and learn about specific ponies in town while still remaining stealthy.

Some friendship should be allowed (it IS highly doubtful a non-stealth expert would be undetectable, and I'm certain Fluttershy's various animal pals would catch sight of the human eventually, especially since she can apparently speak to anything from Bees to Bears), but with penalties. Like, the more ponies that are aware of their existence lowers a point multiplier or even does a combo breaker for a valuable means of point accumulation, motivating them to keep themselves; while at the same time, not forcing them to remain isolated.

It would also make their desire to return home a lot stronger and more sensible, as they wouldn't be as attached as some others might be.

The point of the reality show might be a "Dream Sweepstakes" combined with a "Survivor" sort of thing. I.e. They've set a goal that requires a lot of points (maybe it's a "save my loved ones from death and/or my family from ruinous debt" sort of thing), hence the various requirements and constant missions. If it's both, then the survivor is far more motivated to keep the point multipliers coming as best as they can, such as the isolation idea.

Possibilities: To make matters more tense for the human in question, they could also be in a group competition, with the overall winner being the only one to get what they set out for and the others having to settle for lesser (and in true game show fashion, some utterly useless) prizes; but to prevent them from sabotaging each other, the other contestants are in other worlds, with constant updates via a video game-esque leaderboard that only documents points earned by the others, not what they did to earn said points.

Also, monthly deadlines could also be an alternate means to keep the points active in mind, as too low of a point count would cull lower competitors and allow for fresh blood to come in, with minor prizes award that can either be used for immediate assistance or being set aside as a stepping stone towards their individual goal to lessen the impact if the "player" does lose. This would allow the gameshow to show mercy on poor-performing fan favorites, or media darlings that aren't as lucky.

(don't forget that while there has to be some dangerous/risky business in a gameshow like this, they'd also have to have some empathy for their players to maintain the audience. Otherwise, the players are just chumps who would start out with even less and would stand a far higher chance of dying, which ends the good times faster and leaves the audience far more apathetic to the show, which results in a major drop in ratings.)

New idea: It's rather crazy.
It's one of these 'instead of being populated by ponies, every character of Equestria is of a different species' ideas. In this case, instead of Equestria being populated by ponies, it's populated by changelings.

... but here's the twist.

There used to be actual ponies, an extremely long time ago. However, the hive that now form Equestria infiltrated the ancient pony civilization and assimilated themselves completely, getting themselves into deep cover as to act as love batteries in a long-term plan to allow their queens' bloodline to replace the original Celestia & Luna. The scheme worked... in fact, it worked too well ; Discord sensed the disappearance of his ancient foes and did his whole takeover and rampage due to this. And it lasted as long as it did because the changeling queens were initially not able to use the Elements of Harmony and had to learn what friendship truly meant before they could.

The Equestria hive is basically a paradox ; every pony is either a full-blooded changeling or is only distantly related to ponies, the last pure-blooded pony having died five centuries ago due to the changelings outnumbering and eventually assimilating the original pony population base. However, due to the deep cover nature of the original plan, the hive mind link has not been used in centuries and everyone is scared of being discovered, never revealing to one another, not even fellow changelings... whom they can't identify because the magic of friendship and the echoes of the hive mind are similar, so they can't risk it. The queens themselves, even if they often detect some of their little ponies as not being actually ponies, never dare revealing that 'Celestia' and 'Luna' are actually two bloodlines of changeling queens transfering memories from mother to child to keep the illusion of immortal rulers going because if Equestria let alone the world learnt that they were not only fakes but indirectly responsible for Discord's rampage, everyone would hate them and banish them.

To give an example of the kind of weirdness it would cause...

In this idea, Twilight Sparkle is secretely a changeling posing as a pony. She is convinced Celestia is an immortal alicorn ruler and she is her student and what not. She is best friends with Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, and Rarity. She is convinced her friends are ponies. She never reveal herself because she think that if her pony friends knew she was a changeling, they'd hate her and, at best, she'd be banished by Celestia. She can feel the love and friendship of magic from her friends... which to her, confirm they're ponies because the magic of friendship is a pony thing. Rainbow Dash is also secretely a changeling, who is also convinced her friends are ponies and think she'd be kicked out of Equestria if everyone learnt she wasn't. She can feel the magic of friendship and the love of Twilight, Rarity, and all her other friends... but that certainly prove they're ponies because friendship is, like, the ponies' big schtick, right?

Regarding why I think it would be fun to write, there's the inherent humor of the type of situation akin to the above, where all of the characters try to hide from one another their true nature due to assumptions.

But I think it would also be interesting because of the differences that it would create between the Equestria hive and original strain changelings, such as the one led by Chrysalis ; although they don't really realize it due to lack of contact with the original strain changelings (outside of infiltrators... who of course hide their identities), being born and raised in a pony society, being taught pony mentality and morality, and harnessing pony magic their entire lives for entire generations has changed them.

They don't consider themselves ponies... but ironically, they're the only ones in the world who don't see them as being ponies. Even among those who know their true forms (Chrysalis, having never seen a pure-blooded pony in her life, actually assume that the strange changeling strain of Equestria are actual ponies).

ARISE FROM THE DEAD!

...Anyways, having watched Equestria Girls (my opinion on that isn't loving it or hating it, just so-so), Sunset Shimmer is a chill character and all, but seriously, that was her master plan?

I half-wonder if maybe her master plan couldn't have been a feint for something else, like maybe she intended to give all the students at Canterlot High the ability to use magic or something.

Actually, rolling with my idea from last post, I'd like to posit this:

Sunset was friends with the Canterlot High Five long before the events of EG. Hell, she was friends with the entire school. In making friends, she was able to use magic, for the first time in many years after crossing the portal. After all, friendship is magic.

However, all her friends can't use magic, and so she hatches a plot to steal the Element of Magic for a day to give them the ability to use magic. Somehow. It makes more sense than brainwashing students who can't use magic to attack a society full of magic-users. However, then she trips over Spike's tail, and upon getting back to Canterlot High, gets in a panic and magically brainwashes everyone to hate her as long as the portal is still open. This way, Twilight and the other royals think her plan was that abortion of a 'let's take over Equestria!' plot, and as long as Sunset can pull of a sufficient defeat-means-friendship act, Equestria will be none the wiser to the world on the other side of the portal suddenly getting a bunch of magic-users.

This of course wouldn't be canon with RR or FG

brb, fleshing this out into a story

WHOOPS! Original post was in the wrong thread, my bad.

But, to make this post thread-related, I'll write out an idea here in a bit.

A failed attempt to magically exile all of the Alicorns results in four of the Mane 6, Celestia, Luna, Shining Armor, and several other ponies being scattered across multiple worlds. Ordinarily, it would be an easy case of simply opening a portal and bringing them right back, but the exile spell has many wild and elaborate stipulations which prevent the exiled ponies from returning until a condition is met for each one.

Not sure what sort of worlds they should be tossed into, but I do have some ideas. Some are for the lulz, like Luna in Sailor Moon.

I have in my head the idea of Trixie being a Changeling. Fanon has morphed changelings from feeding on love to feeding on any regular positive emotion, and what emotion would be best for The Great and Powerful Trixie than the wild adulation of fans?

In Boast Busters, she totally could have beaten that Ursa minor, but it would have consumed far too much of the energy she had built up. In Magic Duel, she's relying completely on the Alicorn Amulet's power. Or something.

Part of it is that a lot of people like Chrysalis a lot, so giving her and the Changeling a more broader spectrum of emotions to eat makes them less villainous.

As for the idea of Trixie being a Changeling, I could see it, especially if you were working with the idea of the changelings eating positive emotions in general. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've seen a fanfic about that idea on the frontpage of FimFiction, but I don't recall the name and it was a while ago. :/

You mean about Trixie being a Changeling or Changelings eating any sort of positive emotion? I've seen tons of the latter, none of the former.

EDIT: That Sunset Shimmer idea I mentioned before, I've got 6924 words on. Might be able to complete tonight if I have the time.

Or not. Tomorrow night since tonight is party night.

Back to Trixie again, another idea to spin off for a new ending to Magic Duel.

I wonder what would happen if the Alicorn Amulet meets the Element of Magic?

Again with Trixie, I can't seem to find a single Trixie x Dust Shine (R63 TS), so I guess I'll have to write it myself.

I call it Moonshine pairing because that's what I'd have to drink if I ended up writing a clopfic.

Two idea's for a story.

A human fan of the show appears at the beginning of the reign of Celestia and Luna, the human doesn't have any powers but what they do have is knowledge they gained from the internet. The knowledge they have is something they read and memorize for fun, like the poster of "Let's say you've gone back in time", survival guide to the apocalypse, and other stuff like that. Of course they never believed that they would need to use any of that knowledge, so despite knowing what they do they never put it into practice and having no experience with applying their knowledge they also have to contend with that they might not remember the information correctly.

Some basics about the equestria of the past:
1. Celestia and Luna were born Alicorns, they were born from the three tribes being united.
2. For the first 9 years of their life, Starswirl the bearded help raise them.
3. Starswirl is centuries old, he will eventually have a descendant named after him. (That would be the one who befriends Scorpan and who made the spell in Magical Mystery Cure)
4. He is banish by both the steward and the nobles for teaching the Sisters radical ideas, like the commoners should be give the same protection under the law as the nobles, stuff like that.
5. The nobles are only partially successful in the next decade of trying to convert the sisters from Starswirls ideas.
6. During the story the sisters are 19 years old and have only just ascended to the throne about two years ago.

Some basics about the human, they come from a modern democratic country, so a medieval fiefdoms and all that it entails will keep on shocking them throughout the story, couple with the knowledge of the show of how Equestria will turn out with currently how it is. All of this pushes the human to try and help the peasantry, the more the human tries to help the more they see how awful a lot of the nobles are, with their knowledge they are able to greatly help the commoners and with how they talk about their country they inspire the commoners to start looking towards them for leadership. The human eventually gathers enough supplies and sets out to the capital in hopes of getting an audience with the two sisters, so that they can have them help deal with the rampart corruption of the nobles.

What the human has done eventually causes the nobles to worry and makes the human their enemy, the sisters being young, inexperience in ruling, and eager to protect equestria listen to the nobles about the human being evil and how the human is using some sort of magic to bewitch the commoners so that they may lead a revolt and take over equestria. One noble gives a book of spells to the sisters as a gift to combat the human, the spells in the book would in the future be label dark magic but here in the past they are consider the norm. After learning that the human is coming to the capital to seek a audience with them, the sisters believing that the human seeks to bewitch or to assassinate them prepare a trap and invite the human to meet them at their castle when they get to the capital. They spring their trap resulting in the human being trap in a circle or something similar, the sisters despite the urging of their guards and the present nobles to execute the human their, plead with the human to release their hold on their subjects and to leave equestria afterwards. The human not knowing what the sisters are talking about asks them repeatedly about what they mean, during this time unknown to anyone the trap that is keeping the human contain starts to fail as it was only made for beings of this world. When the trap breaks apart the sisters react each using a different spell they recently learned on the human, couple with the left over magic of the trap and the human being from another world the spells react with a different effect than the sisters intended. The human is painfully turn to stone, the human is eventually release from their stone prison in the future not long after Discords reformation, but they remain cursed with their body in constant pain, also the human was not aware of the passage of time so to them it has been only a few seconds. This incident will be one of Celestia's and Luna's biggest regrets after they find out what the human was really their for.

Some stuff that should be included in this are:
1. The rapid use of the elements of harmony in a short amount of time is what free the human.
2. The first three seasons of the show take somewhere between two and half to three years.
3. The became a martyr for a revolution that takes place not long after they are turned to stone.(This could be a story itself) The sisters and nobles win, but it was a bloody win.
4. At the end of the revolt is when the sisters learn they were tricked by the nobles.
5. The revolt is still felt in modern Equestria
6. The effects of both the human and the revolt has changed how equestria is from the original timeline.(The mane six are still the bearers) A lot of stuff from the show still happens, but they play out differently or they never happened(like Trixie coming to Ponyville).

This is how far I got with this idea.

The second idea involves the premise of the witch of the everfree, I think it has a lot of potential. Basically for those who never read it, it has Sunset Shimmer has the main character where instead of going into the mirror she is kicked out of the castle without in hassle involve and being her she decides to leave Canterlot, but Celestia in the story was only teaching her a lesson by having her try and survive by herself for a few days before having her brought back. So Celestia had some of her agents spy on Sunset to keep her safe, so when Sunset leaves the agents try to stop her (making her scared of Celestia, as she recognize that they were sent by Celestia), after escaping onto the train and escaping the agents by jump off said train into a river she basically decides to live in the everfree forest.

Now my idea is the same up to the part were Sunset jumps from the train, instead she and a agent fall from the train into the river and wind up just inside everfree forest. Now Sunset has a broken leg like in the story but the agent is their with her, before the agent can try to convince Sunset to come with them they are attacked by a manticore, during the battle Sunset tries to help the agent with the manticore she succeeds with killing it but also accidentally kills the agent in the process. This results in Sunset fleeing deeper into the everfree and to develop both a mental block in using her magic and a true fear of what Celestia might do to her for killing another pony. The other agents eventually make it to the area but they are forced to attack and scare away a pack of timberwolves, what they find makes them report to Celestia that both Sunset and the agent are dead.

Parts of the story are:
1. Sunset is basically a teenager who accidentally kill someone who was trying to help her (killing is completely different from being a queen bitch). The trauma that alone would cause her is huge, but she did it with her magic which is her talent.
2. Sunset grows into a adult in the everfree, but has never gotten over her trauma.
3. The trauma causes her not to use her full abilities in magic, resulting in her only using telekinesis.
4. Any tracing spells that Celestia might have put on Sunset don't work in the everfree and they eventually wear off with how long Sunset is in their before even attempting to enter any towns close to the everfree.
5. Believing Sunset to be dead causes Celestia to be more protective of Twilight Sparkle when she takes her on as a student.
6. Sunset starts trying to make potions from the plants in the everfree forest and selling them in towns close to the forest.
7. It is some years before she leaves the forest to go into any towns for supplies.
8. Their are several other towns that boarder the Everfree forest than Ponyville.
9. She eventually learns how to navigate the forest better than any other pony.
10. She eventually becomes friends with Zecora after helping her out several times when she moves into the everfree forest, which is about a year before the show starts.
11. The story begins a decade before the show begins.
12. She becomes famous across Equestria as the friendly witch of the Everfree forest, who helps and protects anyone who is lost in their.
13. Her reason for protecting and helping anyone who is in the everfree is repentance for killing the agent.
14. She has a limp from her leg healing improperly and her entire body is scarred from surviving in the everfree forest(and is the reason she never takes off her cloak she eventually buys in a town).
15. Eventually she gets good at killing the many monsters in the Everfree forest(this is her only using telekinesis), which enforces in her mind that she is a monster and belongs in the everfree forest.
16. The story should encompass her decade in the forest and all the way to just after Tirek where she leaves the forest to face Celestia judgement.
17. When Nightmare Moon returns, Sunset is deep in the everforest well past the castle of the two sisters. The reason being is that she found out that Celestia would be in Ponyville during the sun celebration, so she decide to hide deep in the everfree making her miss the mane six becoming the element bearers, shocking her when she visits Ponyville a week later looking for the reason why the moon was out for so long.

This is what I have for this idea currently.

Luna and Discord have a buddy cop adventure.

The Equestrian civil service ends up having to declare wherever they're currently at no-go zones.

I don't know why, but I can't help but feel that Celestia and Luna need to go on an adventure or solve a mystery. Not a princess-y one either, which are usually "blah blah going to a shithole country for political reasons, wacky misunderstandings, trip goes awry".

Like, something goes whack, and they have to solve it sans their political power.

Like, maybe Canterlot just disappeared. Whole city, castle and all, but Celestia and Luna are left behind. They ask Discord, but he can only shrug and say "Not me." And then the rest of the story surrounds their attempts to get Canterlot back to it's rightful place and state.

Perhaps they find that they'd both somehow subconsciously banished Canterlot out of combined resentment and they can't bring it back without working through why they both hate it so much. Or maybe some former student of Celestia's is intentionally screwing with both of them so they literally can't detect Canterlot or any of its inhabitants. Or perhaps it's a plot of a magical version of Brainiac and Canterlot is now in a state akin to the Bottle City of Candor.

So I've read a few fics about Prince Blueblood and fan theories on why he's a Prince, ranging from that he's the descendent of Princess Platinum and retains the title, to being related by blood to Celestia and Luna (being either a direct descendant, being the descendant of a third sister, or being the descendant of a cousin of the two Princesses), to Prince literally being his first name, and Blueblood being his last name.

I don't know how the idea formed in my head, but here's something that I've been kicking around for a bit: Prince Blueblood is a secret alicorn, who's been around since the time of before Nightmare Moon. Like Luna and Celestia, he's responsible for one of the major forces of nature, in this case the circle of life, making sure that the reincarnation system runs smoothly. Unlike the two sisters, however, Blueblood himself isn't immortal, and in fact only has a regular lifespan. Being the pony responsible for reincarnation, however, means that he will be reborn as a new colt or filly all the time.

Over time, however, he's become twisted in his ways and acts like the Bene Gesserit from Dune, manipulating the Canterlot upper society to pair together ponies for optimised strong offspring, both to enhance the body he is reborn into each time, and to make sure Equestria has many strong fighters if it's ever attacked again. Twilight Sparkle and Shining Armor are born as a result of one of the couplings he sets up.

This could easily turn pretty damn dark, to be honest. I don't think I would write it as a standalone fic, though. It would probably be put as a plot twist in some other full-length fic if I ever get around to writing one of those.

After playing some more of MGSV Phantom Pain, I'd pay good money for an episode in which Twilight Reveals she had a crush as a foal on an older stallion voiced by David Hayter or Keifer Sutherland.

Anyways, since Starlight Glimmer is supposed to return for the Season 5 finale, am I the only one who thinks the Cutie Mark Crusaders will FINALLY get their Cutie Marks here?

If they don't, then there's an idea. Go with an alternate Starlight Glimmer villain arc, and have the CMC be the ones to defeat her of all ponies, getting their Cutie Marks in the process.

What if one of the Mane 6 outside of Twilight got annoyed over Celestia sending Twilight a book without any warnings to the spell's effects at all and the fact that merely saying the words might set off the spell in Magical Mystery Cure? Don't really know where to go with this, just a thought.

I feel the CMC will get their Cutie Marks here.  My thought is that either SG will nab one or all of them after they get their cutie marks, and they'll motivate themselves back to normal.  After all, there's a lot of conflicting statements on what the cutie mark actually IS, and the start of Season 5 just made things even more bizarre.

My theory: what SG cast is a magical suppression spell that's supposed to keep either negative or worthless cutie marks from ruining a pony's life (like Troubleshoes Clyde) OR it's meant to screw with career criminals. In all honesty, I half-expect a B-team to save the day rather than the Mane 6, just like one did for the season opener, only a massive one, aka. most of the secondary/tertiary cast.

As for Bon Bon/Derpy voice off, for those who don't know, Bon Bon is by Andrea Libman (aka. Pinkie/Fluttershy); and Derpy is by Tabitha St. Germain (aka. Rarity/Granny Smith/Princess Luna).

According to IMDB, Andrea has 100 acting credits to her name, while Tabitha has a whopping 210 acting credits.  But at a quick glance, the two have been on at least a few non-MLP projects at the same time, so I would assume that such an event could occur.  What would be tremendously amusing is if they read lines from each of their known characters as DIFFERENT characters and have people try to guess both the original character who said the line AND the character they were performing as.
