Mythbusters bust the fake moon landing theory?

Honestly, I think these guys are doing a public service on this one. I've lived in Florida for most of my life, I grew up around the space program. When I was in my teens I stood about three levels from the top of the VAB building (The doors were open to the outside on a gorgeous sunny day. I really wish I'd brought a camera!), I stood next to a shuttle on the freaking launch pad (yeah I didn't know my tour would include that, again sever lack of camera), I had a chance to talk with one of the engineers who was there when they began launching these rockets (The stories that guy had! I swear he should've written a damn book!). So this is something near and dear to my heart.

Thank you Mythbusters!

Moon Landing Deniers are like every other kind of Conspiracy Theorist: they have a political agenda that requires the conspiracy, rather than basing it on any kind of rational thought or belief.

(This argument relies on me remembering correctly that they replicated all the things)

While this might work for some of the casual believers, it will probably not even phase (if it isn't used as proof by itself) the more die hard ones. Because they will now point to this and say that they were right because Myth busters being able to recreate it on earth proves that it was filmed on earth.

But the point of the moonwalking episode was that they couldn't recreate the moonwalking on earth.

Oh, then I need to rewatch it because I forgot parts.

Oh well another reason to watch myth busters. ^_^

Actually, the moonwalking CAN be recreated on Earth. It's just very massively expensive to do so, since among other things you need to create a nearly-zero G environment... recreating it is something a government could do, but Mythbusters doesn't have the mass amounts of resources the gov't has, what do you expect them to do? Steal the necessary equipment, which would require a dump truck to carry?

Then again, the US wouldn't be the first nation to waste billions on propaganda. :p

To recreate the moonwalking that was seen broadcasted during the moon landing you would have to use a plane with a cabin the size of a film studio and send it into a nosedive that would have to last a couple of hours.

Now, there are a couple of big planes out there, but there is a big obstacle for the nosedive to last longer than a minute, namely the ground.

My counter-argument to all this conspiracy stuff is that the Soviets never claimed the moonlanding was faked. And they had the motivation and enough scientists to prove it.

I remember back in tenth grade Western Civ class we watched a program about this. They brought in various people who said that it was possible it could have been faked. Damned if I remember why we watched it though.

Two possible reasons.

1. Same reason why my 8th grade history class watched an animated short musical on first year of the American Revolution that belonged at 6 AM for children, they needed to do something to fill up the time even if it was actually damaging to education.

2. They wanted to raise people to be skeptical of simply believing something to be true. If so that isn't the right way to do it.

You know, now that i think about it I remember watching something about Atlantis as well. Speculations on where it could have been and the like.

In light of this, I'll go with the first option. B)

EDIT: Well, at least part of the first option. The "need to fill time with something" part.

Yeah cause we fired 13 Saturn V's for kicks.

TNF: :sisi: If the moon landing was faked wouldnt the Soviets jump on that chance to show the world that America lies?

(Glances nervously around the internet) Not if the Soviets faked their man around the world and both the Americans and the Soviets were in on it together so that they could hide the existence of the Betans and use their secret alien robot zombie technology to create a World Government!*

*I have heard much stranger things than this, some of them actually have cults in RL.

And then Tornado was an illegal alien. :p

Whether I'm referring to an immigrant or an actual alien, or maybe both (god knows people from Australia can't be human to survive in that environment...), is up to you. :snigger:
