Nah, I think it gets mentioned a couple of other times, the specific example that comes to mind is right before the Tree climbing exercise in the Wave Arc.

I'm looking now and I gather that this is what you're referring to?

It says "body energy" and "spirit energy", yes, but it doesn't explain what either one is -- and Kakashi actually mentions neither.

And as I said, Kishimoto contradicts himself whenever he feels like it -- Ebisu explains that stamina goes straight into taijutsu without needing "chakra", but Gai (or maybe it was Kakashi, I forget) says that breaking the gates requires using chakra. Lee can't. Yet he can break the gates.

I smell self-contradiction. One of a metric fuckton throughout the manga.

That's one thing I have to defend Kishimoto on. He never said Lee couldn't use chakra, only that his skill in both Ninjutsu and Genjutsu was so bad that he couldn't use either. Lee having a condition where he can't use chakra is completely fanon, and probably wrong since he's been shown to use chakra even in his first appearance by controlling the wrappings on his arms.

I don't remember where, but I think that Lee problem is explain to be in fact a inhability to mold his chakra by using handseal.

It make sense then that he can't use ninjutsu and genjutsu but still can use taijutsu and chakra controle hability (water-walking and such as well as the Gates).

It might have been in the anime, but that's even more screwed up than the manga. So I don't really pay attention to it. I know that Kishimoto hasn't made that screwup yet (though he probably will later).
