Naruto [Naruto] Update List

The summary has me wanting to avoid this story like the plague. Does it have anything to do with naruto besides having a protagonist with the same name?
Sort of I guess? More so than many others. At the very least, Naruto is himself, personality wise if not appearance, given his lack of whiskers. He has clones, a demon sealed inside him, uses the same attacks and just makes them bigger when they don't work...

The Howling Wind by Jmenace has now been scrapped and is being rewritten under the title of The Wind, Howling (except its still called The Howling Wind in the title). Prologue is up. He's also got a patreon set up and is accepting donations in the hope that enough money will come in that he can dedicate more time towards writing.

Isn't that like ... illegal ? You aren't supposed to take money for fanfiction, right ?

Technically, they're only donating to someone who just so happens to write something they like. If he uses that to earn a living and write a fanfic in his free time, then that's not illegal.

Technically you are not supposed to conercializa or profit from fanfiction, donatiins and "patrons" don't count because they are geared towards the content creator instead of the product aka the fanfic.

That and the whole anime/manga industry tacitly accepts it; all the Circles selling doujin at Comiket are technically breaking copyright law, but they don't get prosecuted because they're not seen as hurting original product sales. The idea is that fan materials encourage interest in the original product, so they're not seen as harmful.

Meanwhile, because Western Comics tend to recycle the same characters through similar story arcs over and over again, fan media is seen as direct competition with whatever the content-owners are publishing.

And Disney seems to think anything they touch is theirs forever and they've spent a ton of money lobbying that way, so I kind of think that copyright law has turned into regulatory capture rather than guaranteeing the original artist is fairly remunerated.

Still more of a guilty pleasure fic. I somewhat like it, but it's not exactly something to be taken seriously.

Sealkeeper: He Who Binds Ch.44

Note that cannibalism is one of my pet peeves, so the story has lost the benefit of the doubt I gave it.
I had to read this chapter after that comment. My lizard brain read cannibalism and just had to get more details on the tragedy.  This fic is giving me Chuunin Exam Day flashbacks with how amoral the NINO is. The one thing it has going for it is that maybe the plot seems to be moving forward instead of just endless training.

Yeah, reminds me of Chunin Exam Day Naruto too - though I hope that this author is, at least, aware his lead is a monster.

actually? this NINO is a very moral little Monster, who is a little too literal and loving of 'imagery/symbolism' at times, the amoral creature is Orochimaru.
sadly the story is becoming a less entretaining trainwreck with each update

Him being Lawful Evil to Orochimaru's Chaotic Evil doesn't make him less of a monster, though.

that's why i called him a Monster too.
and with this update, i can honestly say that the story has become unamusing.

I dropped it already, how much worse could it have gotten?

not worse, just... the meh, kind of boring with a pinch of the same shit over again formula.
the new 'things' are that the Orochithingy suggested Rasa to ally with Wave and stop the plans to fuck with Konoha because it was not worth it (which could be interesting), Hana liking being in wave, Ino moaning about how herself and her family loved to dig themselves deeper, Femruto contemplating how much NINO 'changed', 2-3 paragraphs worth of Hinata wondering the meaning of the vial full with Inoichi's blood and NINO wondering about buying a new freezer because the current one was full with Inoichi's parts, which IMHO was tasteless, irrelevant and needless, equaling in a very dissapointing chapter.
ah and Anko being her 'common' 'lusty' fandom self without too much depth like sadly most of the time.

if i come to read it again once it's finished it would be just for how the Akatsuki issue would be resolved, but i don't have high hopes of that ever happening.

Is nobody complaining about those things in the reviews?

Honestly, I couldn't bring myself to actually read the latest chapter, let alone look into the reviews. I might read it to see how far the story has fallen... eventually.

Edit: @shioran toushin: Fair enough. I believe all of us here were aware exactly what Alignment this Naruto fell into to begin with. In my case, I acknowledged him as a Villain Protagonist even early on, when I liked the story. (Not when I referred to him as that in my posts here; even earlier, before I read halfway through the story.)

Man have you seen the people that review these days? some stories i try out have terrible grammar, ton of typos, misspelled names, but do the reviews say anything about that? nope its just, "will naruto get <insert crazy god power or a pairing>" or "update please" most reviews are useless drivel these days

Goldenfalls

Fic till you drop
It's too tiring to try and give a critical review that's couched in enough uncertainty and praise that the author doesn't attack you. I've given up writing reviews for anything but fics I really love because then I don't have to worry about it.

Road to Heaven updated: Chapter 13
Naruto has the best line towards the end. That's an instant classic, right there. I'm going to have to read this fic again. :)
