Akamatsuverse Negima Fic Peeves Rant

For those who don't know, the second series began on Wednesday. No, I haven't seen any of it beyond the commercials available on Youtube. Though I can confirm that pretty much every secret identity/ability revealed previously is given right up front in the new series.
And I wholeheartedly agree with the consensus on the English dub. I ranted to myself for nearly half an hour (uttering frequent profanities, mind) about how absofuckinglutely HORRIBLE it was. And that was just from the preview. Akamatsu's stuff just can't get a break. First they make the anime lame, THEN THEY ADD AN ABSOLUTELY GODAWFUL EXCUSE FOR AN ENGLISH DUB THAT MAKES ME WANT TO JAM STICKS IN MY EARS AND RUN SCREAMING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC......or something like that. Good thing I rarely watch dubs to begin with.

Although if I were you I'd have jammed rusty forks in my ear. I may be deaf, but unfortulnately that wasn't from birth, so I had enough time to listen to my fair share of godawful dubs.

Hnn, the Negima anime (which I downloaded off of a Bittorrent client a couple of months ago) was...meh, it was essentially just regurgitating bits and pieces of the manga up until it ran out of plot where they just began making stuff up. Personally I thought it would have been better if [SPOILERS] they had just let Asuna stay dead and leave Negi to wallow in his misery as he was at her funeral and afterwards.[/SPOILERS]
:blue: i just finished getting the first Negi tv anime offa bittorrent. Is it really that bad compared to the manga 9watched the first 3 episodes so far, still forming an opinion) Anyone know of any sites I could grab copies of the manga from? Sounds like I'd be doing myself a disservice by sticking with the subbed anime (I almost exclusively get subbed anymore; why the hell do producers go outta their ways to pick the most inappropriate VA's? Most of them can't pronounce words worth shit :blue: )
honestly, i've avoided any negima fanfics besides the ones I've found here. in fact, I avoid the general channels of ff.net as a whole, mainly just following links from here and checking the c2s I trust. as to a few points made earlier, I got the impression that Negi is actually English, but the magical school he went to was in wales, hence he says he just came from wales. he repeatedly says in the del rey manga "I'm a proper english gentleman!"
as to the anime, the first series is good, not great, just good. they simplify the story at times (no cards, no wings for setsuna) and expand it at others (asuna's death/demon thing) all in all, it's a fun show, but the manga is a lot better. I've seen the first three episodes of the new series and I'm really enjoying it, too. lots of fun stuff and cameos.

England and Wales are essentially the same damn place. They both suck, no one in either country bathes, and everyone there has an unnatural fondness for sheep. If it weren't for us Scots coming down from the mountains naked and painted blue every so often to entertain the ignored English lasses, there wouldn't BE any English or Welsh by now.
For higher quality, go to Mahora Academy for bittorrent downloads of the first three. Since that's the actual site of the fansubbers working on the show, check back there periodically to get the episodes as they come out. They also had scanlations of the unreleased (in the US) negima manga availible to download. The Site is down temporarily for overhauls, but it will be going back up soon. till then check The Pirate Bay or Mininova for bittorrent versions of the first three episodes. If you don't have bittorrent, get it. It is the single greatest invention since th internet itself.
