I noticed we really don't have anyplace to talk about recent chapters.

Just looked at the raw, and it appears that this fight is over and Chao is beaten. Can't tell exactly what was going on, but it looked like Chao's magic wasn't natural and copped out on her at the end. That does explain why she hasn't used it before.

Haruna and Kei won their fight, but I was expecting that. As it was against copies of Chachamaru I am not surprised that it wasn't shown. I still expect the finish of Chisame's fight with Chachamaru to be shown, the same with the Kaede/Mana fight.

I'm pulling for Hakase to finish the spell while Negi was fighting (and likely saving in the next chapter) Chao. I think it would be good for the story if Chao was willing to really sacrifice herself to accomplish her goal, and did so. So as much as I like her (and I do quite a bit,) I'm pulling for Chao to be permanently damaged by this battle.

It appears that, while Chao have natural magic skills, those are not strong enough to fight with Negi. The suit that Chao is wearing amplifies the magic, but it also takes vital energy.

Something interesting in this chapter is that Chao is talking about Ku Fei, but it looks more like she is glad that she could befriend her over the last 2 years.

There is a lot of people that believe that because of wath happened at the end of this chapter Chao might lose her memory. And while this is somewhat good (she won't have to go back to the future), we might never know who is her grandmother.

Has somebody else noticed how Yue is getting a lot of panel time in the last 10-15 chapters? Could it be that Akamatsu is trying to tell us something?

Possibly.

Got to wonder just how closely related Negi and Chao are. Is she his daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, or even further? Not to mention just who her ancestress/Negi's signficant other will be.

All I can say is that, it's unlikely to be Konoka, or Setsuna. If it was Konoka, then I'd expect Chao's magic to be even greater than Negi's, and if Setsuna, she'd probably have wings.

Of course, setting the relationship sufficiently distant would take care of those problems.

Wonder if Chachamaru's sisters will become permanent parts of the series.

Considering that Akamatsu didn't even bother to show Paru and Ku Fei pounding them, I doubt that they'll stick around.

As for Chao's ancester...

HERSELF! She can lose her memory, become the 6th Baka Ranger, and fall head over heels in love with Negi. :snigger:
Then you can have a number of Lazarus Long references just for fun.

Seems like your prediction was spot on ttestgagr ^_^

Though Chao with her hair down reminds me of someone but I just can't seem to remember who she reminds me of. :unsure:

Very interesting. Surprised that no one's offering Chao some coverage, as she's almost flashing people.

I'd say that Negi's certainly earned a lot of respect from everyone. The flying eatery is a bit of a surprise.

I wonder if the next story arch will be about Asuna's lost memories.

BTW: Which anime/manga/game is that pic from, ttestagr?

We're almost definately going to get some coverage on Asuna's past, remember that Albireo has a little meeting planned for that purpose.

I'm sad that Chao didn't accomplish her plan, but on the plus side it looks like she's going to stick around! I also found it interesting how her magic seals are artificial, and really a horrible thing that was done to her. She isn't willing to talk about the future, but it would be amusing if fucking with the others about what's going to happen becomes one of her gimmicks.

well, there is still hope. Nothing to stop her from coming back later. ^_^

But something seemed strange. Namely the lightning that hits Chachamaru and Ku-Fei when Chao reveals her "ultimate" "weapon". ^_^

okay i just started reading the manga (i bought and finished volume 1 recently) now my question i have is. is the manga over and if so how many volumes did it have and if not how many volumes does it have currently

The best place I know to download Negima mangas, or any other manga for that matter, is stoptazmo.

And the good thing is - they DON'T remove the chapters already published in the US. Yay for Aquastar! :p

I know I saw Book15 (English version) at my local convenience store.

Still waiting for Book17...

Odd, I saw the Jap version up for sale at Kinokuniya about 2-3 months ago. Normally, the mandarin version would hit the shelves 2-3 weeks soon after. That and XXXholic 10 as well... <_< Chuangyi seems to be taking forever to get them out...

I was wondering if there was a thread for this. I get most of my manga from lurk. Though it won't do most people any good unless they can use IRC. They should have the old aquastar scans. I have the past 5 volumes from them. I think that was because the other group stopped or something.

I'm hoping Chachamaru still gets her new body and they weren't trashed too badly. There is hope with that since the scientist girl got some knowledge from Chao I think.

I don't think Chao is that closely related to Negi. It seems like a few hundred years have passed or so. It would take a long time to get a livable colony set up on Mars, and it seems like she came from more than a mere colony.
