Akamatsuverse Negima: White Wings OVAs

Manga artist Ken Akamatsu announced on his blog that limited editions of volumes 23 through 25 of his Negima! Magister Negi Magi manga will each include an OVA episode. The official announcement will be made in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine's next issue, which goes on sale on April 2. The first OVA volume will sell on July 17 and cover the 176th and 177th installments of the magical school comedy manga. The second volume will follow on October 17 and cover installments 178 to 180. The final volume on January 17, 2009 will skip installment 181 and cover installments 182 and 183. The SHAFT studio will return from the second television series to animate. Kodansha employed a similar OVA-bundled manga plan for CLAMP's Tsubasa story last year.

This means:

1st OVA: Negi and Asuna's training with Evangeline.
2nd OVA: Trip to the beach, Anya's arrival.
3rd OVA: Negi goes to COMIKET, loli Kaede vs loli Mana, Chachamaru's new body, Sayo's day out.

It has been confirmed that Kotaro Inugami/Murakami and Albireo Imma are going to appear in the OVAs.

Personally I'd like to see the school festival martial arts tournament...mainly for the banter between Eva and Colonel.

This is good too though. It really is a shame that the anime just cuts off after the 'Asuna's Death' arc.

Alas, instead I must watch Naruto because we all know how good a series that-SHIT I forgot!

it's anime BUT it's based on the manga arcs... so likely has no connection to either anime production (I hope) and I will be very glad to see kotoro (if he;s suppose to be showing up)

Well, Kotaro does show up in the preview video on the offical website, so I'm pretty sure he'll be there. Since its being done by Shaft, I'm somewhat worried about how it'll come out, but hoping for the best.

He also has some specific moments he likes to be incorporated into the anime, but they are quite disjointed to make one story. They are:

There will be a 30 seconds promo for the "magic world arc".

Also, start work on 210 on the 28th, the fan poll will be announced with it, not the upcoming 209. (I think, either way it is coming.)

Beside comments on the end? of the live drama in general, he also give a brief comment on every single 32 girls (+Negi), (told you it is a BIG update.)

The First OVA is up on Crunchyroll, at least. I'm not sure what fansub group they got it from, though. Its pretty low quality though, even on the high quality setting.

Just Watched it last night.

I enjoyed it, they REALLY stuck to the source material on it , the characters acted the way they should and they even gave a tease of some previous manga events (end of the Chao fight, bits with eva's training, meeting with Al). Kotaro's finally animated though he didn't do too much in the chapter's they covered. The Badge Battle was fun, got to see yuna using her magic guns and yue looked badass (I think they uped the flashiness of her spells personally but it was to cool effect).

overall it was an amazing job... though anyone who wasn't up to date on the manga would be totally fucking lost and there is absolutely nothing connecting it to any anime productions. a shame there's only two more episodes...

Finally got around to watching this... What little of the fight scenes they showed were win. Setsuna vs. Negi and Negi vs. Chao...

I mean seriously, that song they played, the double voices in Japanese and Latin I believe (Think Chao's may have been Greek though) created an awesome effect in the Chao battle, and though the song wasn't as awesome in the second one, it was still win.

I don't know if this was mentioned in another thread or not, but there's a trailer up for the sequel to the White Wing OVAs, called Mahou Sensei Negima! ~Mou Hitotsu no Sekai~ (Magical Teacher Negima! ~Another World~), which is supposedly another four episodes long.

Now I need to go find a copy of third White Wing OVA since I forgot to watch it when it came out.
