Never Shout Never

~Chapter 1: The Moment That You Walked Into This Room.~
Some think the life of a rock star is exciting and glamorous, I can tell you first hand it’s not. Of course I don’t perform sure I’m confident and sarcastic in person but the stage is the one place where I simply can't function. All those eyes and light all fixed on me waiting for me to make a fool of myself. I know I can sing but it’s just not for me. A sketch book and a pencil is all I need to be happy, when I draw I’m limitless. But that’s not the world I was raised in. See my father owns Warner Brother records and is friends with plenty of other record label owners. I’ve witnessed the rise and fall of artist my whole life.

When I was a kid going around to these concerts and watching the bands record was the greatest thing ever but as I got older I started to see the darker side of fame. My Dad tried his best to hide the drugs sex and corruption of money. But I wasn’t stupid or sheltered I’ve seen a lot in 17 years of life. A lot has made me who I am today. But nothing turned my world upside down more than the day my father signed NeverShoutNever to his record label. To be honest I wasn’t to happy when i found out, I had seen some of there stuff on myspace and I wasn’t a fan. His music was actually pretty good, I downloaded a few songs. But something about that cigarette smoking hippie just rubbed me the wrong way. That didn’t stop dear old Dad from signing chaos into our lives. From what I’ve told you, you’d think I hate the whole Ingle ordeal. But in all honestly I would change one thing. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

INDIGO!!!!

I heard My father call my name from the intercom in my “office” really it’s a extra office that my dad gave me to decorate and hang out in when I’m at the studio. I was sitting upside down on my black fake-blood splattered oversized bean bag chair with my Play Station controller in hand when I heard my dad’s demanding cry. I careless toss my controller before strolling over to my desk and pushing the talk button on the intercom.

“talk to me pops.”

“I’ve got the new signed band in my office and they need a tour of the place while I run to a meeting.”

I chuckle a bit under my breath remembering the new band coming in. My dad hates formalities especially studio tours and rule explanations.

“If you needed a babysitter you could’ve just asked.”

I heard a frustrated sigh on my dad’s end.

“Indi would you cut the crap and just come to my office please.”

I smirked before giving in

“yeah yeah I’m coming.”

I casually made my way down the hallway popping my gum from time to time but my care free attitude was stripped away when I opened the door and my nose was attacked by the strong lingering stench of coffee and cigarettes.

Out of all the bands that my could have possibly signed it had to be them? I looked at the head ach ahead of me. I saw three boys more or less around my age. One I recognized as Hayden he had puffy brown hair that I liked. I wracked my brain for what little NeverShoutNever knowledge that I had. When I was in middle school all my friends (with the exception of me) went through their NSN phase. From what I remember Hayden being the do it all guy, he played bass, guitar, drums and backup vocals. On the far right, a guy with slicked back brown hair, a mustache topped with glasses I knew a few facts about him. He plays bass occasionally backup sings and something about him REALLY liking mac and cheese. And in the middle… my number one musical anoice Christofer Drew.

I cleared my throat to get there attention. Everyone turned towards me, I sighed before leaning against the door frame looking board.

“You called?”

My dad seemed less than amused with my lack of enthusiasm.

“Boys this is my daughter Indigo, Indigo this is-”

I cut him off knowing damn well who the boys presented in front of me were. I turned to each of them as I addressed them.

“Taylor, Hayden…”

I had no problem with them so my voice was monotone at best. Then I stopped and turned to the middle narrowing my eyes and spit his name out

“and Christofer..”

Everyone looked at me a bit shocked, all except Chris. He didn’t seemed phased at all but my coldness towards him. In fact he smiled which only infuriated me further.

“Looks like we have a fan.” He chucked a bit and looked at me

“quite the opposite actually.” I snapped back and rolled my eyes

He smile even more and looked over to my now annoyed father

“you got a feisty one here, I like it.” he winked at me and I groaned I opened my mouth to fire back but my father intervened before I could.

“Fan or not it’s your responsibility to show the boys around and make them feel welcomed today or at the very least until I come back.”

I massaged the space between my eyes already feeling that headache I mentioned earlier.

“alright fine, what time are you coming back?”

He paused before answering. I could tell I wasn’t gonna like the answer.

“around six…”

I looked at the gold rustic looking wall clock and my eyes widened

“It’s only 8am that’s 10 hours!”

“I know that’s a long time but I have a very important business deal to close.” As if today couldn’t get any worse I remembered my plans for today.

“Dad they can’t stay that long I have to go to Equal Vision today!”

“I’m sure you can see Vic and Mike another day.”

I’ve been best friends with the Fuentes brothers since my birth. Their dad taught my dad everything he knows about music. We were even neighbours before we moved to burbank. We’ve been together through everything. Mikes first tattoo, Vic’s nose ring, my first guitar and sketch book even the boys first band Before Today. Although they were both older than me by a number of years. (Vic beeing 26 and Mike 24) They're not just like brothers to me as far as I’m concerned they ARE my brothers. It’s been like that since the day I was born we were the three musketeers. Our group was improved when we found two more crazy goof balls to adopt into our little family. My favorite shy turtle and a food crazy nut job. Vic and Mike met Tony and Jaime a few years ago from a band called Trigger My Nightmare everyone just clicked and since 2006 the guys have formed a super kick ass band called Pierce The Veil. I was there for every rehearsal since Before Today. I was there every step of the way for Pierce The Veil even when they signed with Equal Vision Records. The guys are on their first headlining tour and are only in town for the weekend before the second leg of the tour then jet off to warped tour right after. I was planning on spending every second with them that I could. I hated not seeing them everyday. I nearly died when Vic left for college to study graphic design. I would not I repeat will NOT give up any of the time with the people for some stuck up hippie.

“They're only here for the weekend you know that!”

“I know Indigo but the job comes first.”

I could feel myself getting more fired up about this I may keep calm and collected most of the time but my temper is short when provoked.

“I didn’t ask for this!”

“You have two options here, you could miss one day of seeing the guys and stay here or you could take Never Shout with you.”

“Why can’t PTV come here?”

“You know exactly why the Veil guys can’t be here when I’m not here.”

He had a point last time my dad left me alone at the studio with PTV Tony drank a little too much and got on the roof with a ski mask on. when we asked him why are you on the roof all he had to say was “why are you not on the roof?” I knew he had me cornered and I knew seeing my favorite sexicans was worth putting up with babysitting Chris for a few hours. Before I could even reply the devil himself decided to chime in and put his to sense in.

“I think you’d enjoy spending time with us no matter where we are”

I saw his smirk and the sarcastic edge in his voice was enough to make me want to tear my hair out. Taylor and Hayden both gave me an apologetic look. As if to say “sorry we know our friend is a total ass hole but please don’t murder him.” I turned around in the doorway and motioned for them to follow.

“come on, the soon we start this damn tour the soon I can get the hell out of here.”

“Thank you Indigo.” I heard my dad call out as we made our way down the fancy red and gold hallway lined with gold records from various artist.

“You owe me big time old man.”

I picked up my pace and walked ahead of the guys and I could feel their eyes burning holes in the back of my head I gave brief descriptions of the things we passed. After all it’s not the first time I’ve given this tour. We were approaching my office at the end of the hall when I felt an arm wrap around my shoulders. I jumped in surprise and turned to see a cheeky looking Chis.

“Out of all the tour guides we could of had you are by far the most interesting.”

He smelt like cigarettes, trees and if I’m not mistaken weed. I tried to shrug him off but he only held me tighter. It took everything I had not to gag. I snapped my head forward and kept trying to escape him but he wouldn’t let up. He sure had a lot of arm strength for a twig. More struggling accrued and eventually I gave up and let him hold me as we continued the tour. I answered their questions explained the rules as we walked. All while getting snarky comments from Chris. I was surprised he wasn’t dead by the end of the tour. Next stop was Equal Vision and I still clung to hope that this was all a nightmare and at any moment I’d wake up with my best friends by my side. But sadly here I am stuck with guy I hate most on our way to visit the people I love most. Why me? and out of all days why today? God help me.
