NEW: Contest See Last Post

So, I've written up most of an original story that I'm planning to submit into the Writers of the Future contest. Link here: http://www.writersofthefuture.com This will be the second entry I've submitted to it. The first one was rather rushed as it was doubling as schoolwork for my creative writing class, so my quality might have taken a hit. Plus I failed to get it properly edited in time and submitted it within five minutes of the midnight deadline.

Suffice to say, I don't want to have a repeat of that. I would very much like to have some feedback on it, and I have a month to make changes after I finish up the last two scenes, so I'm going to make my case here:

I would like people who are willing to read through about nine-thousand words of fantasy fiction, and are willing giving me input on structure, characters, and etcetera in order to improve it. Grammar and spelling are unimportant at the moment and I have someone to check that over for me. What I need is input from people who know good stories from the bad, and are able to tell me how to keep mine from being the latter.

Alright, the story is finished. I've gotten good feedback for the first three chapters, but I could use a little more the last half of the story. Anyone still interested is welcome to leave their comments.

Don't like saying this, but I'll come out clean - Real life took an unexpected turn and I haven't been able to keep that last promise I made. (only TODAY I've been able to get a decent chance to check my unread messages/alerts)

Alright folks. The story has been entered. To kill time until the results get back to me, I figure I'd have a contest. The challenge is to find as many of the references I included in my Wooden Ships and Iron Women story as possible. At the moment I can't remember every single reference, but the person who finds the most will win and receive the privilege of choosing what I write next, plus another bonus.

1 Video Game (several references to same game)
