Eh this ones old and one i'm probably not going ot pursue so its free to anyone who wants it.
a Digimon: tamers/ .hack crossover...
problem is I've got the options..i've got the basic premise... just can't think up a episode...sooo frustrating...
basic idea is Hypnos wants to investigate the World and why ppl are going into comas while playing it... problem is Ccomp is using its influence to stymie the groups attempts to investigate.
At least until the incident which gives justification for Hypnos to intervene.. which is when the options come in...
option 1 Kazu/kenta/Susie/Jeri... one of them falls into a coma. Since they are all tamers and technically hypnos staff, Hypnos can investigate.
Option 2- Hypnos manages to trace the events in liminality episode 2 to the world.. a disaster of that proprtions gives them the go ahead to investigate despite Ccomps influence.
option 3-actually the request comes from the 4 soverigns... who are busy trying to prevent the spread of the virus from the world into the digital world... since they are busy with that they need someone else to go in and investigate the source of the virus.
option 4- there is no event... rather several of the tamers go to 'visit' the digital world.... is it Hypnos's fault if their visit just HAPPENS to end up in the part of the digital world that 'The World' exists in?
option 5- a something else.
The idea being that Yamaki decides on a two prong approach... (except for option 4) Hypnos and a few tamers (probably the non bio merging ones) investigate the game fromt he real world and perhaps by playing the game and monitering.... while the other tamers (The bio merging ones on the theory they are probaly safer since they weild more power and can join together with their partners) investigate teh world from inside accessing it frtom the digital world... in hopes of picking up something the others miss since they won't have offical access and thus will be able to move a bit more freely.
Would they meet up with Kite and crew? Maybe not straight away.... better to have them seperate or perhaps just missing each other... but maybe several episodes down the line they meet...
IN the end this would be best in the Tamers series. In Digimon season 1 & 2 the digidestined are far more preoccupied with tehir own enemies to go investigating the world, and quite frankly if it were set in the aftermath of Digimon 02. Well The AI in the World would not have gone unnoticed with the sudden massive influx of Digimon (If I recall correctly at the end of 02 pretty much every kid int he world had a digimon partner.)
04 is slightly less troublesome, while there are no definitive links between the internet and the digital world it is heavily implied that the two are one and the same. the main problem here is that any x-over would HAVE to occur during the storyline, as both the real world and the digital world were sealed apart at he end of the series. Also there is little to no contact with the real world. (Plus theres the whole 'if a digimon steps intot he real world both worlds go kablooie thing.... ).
FInally there is the whole tiem dilation thing in series 01, 02, and 04. Its pretty obvious that at least these digital worlds don't match up timewise with the real world (Heck pretty much half of season one didn't last more than day in the 'real world')
Tamers (03) on the other hand works nicely. The connection between the digital world and the real world is pretty clear, you got Hypnos for goverment contact, there is reliable communication between the real world and the Digital world, AND there appears to be no time dilation.
On a side note i have several ideas, most ranma x-overs, that are just gathering dust at the AA... anyone interested if I posted them here as well?
