Well, it wasn't out of NOWHERE... it's just been an incredibly long time since the foreshadowing actually happened.

That Mama would like the cake? Yep, it was made by Sanji. No way she wouldn't like it. All the tension was on the Big Mom pirates.

But that last shot against the straw hats? Did the sunny get blown to bits? Or did they somehow go underwater? Or via the Franky propelled, above air?

Hmm... I'm going to guess below water. What do the rest of you think?

And they DID go underwater! :) (ego inflates!)

Can't quite predict what Big Mom's going to do. Any ideas? I have a feeling that we'll come to know more about her past soon, but can't quite tell how.

And the newspaper guy - generally rooting for news! :)

That one scene with Luffy ordering Jimbe - it reminds me of Gold Rogers.

Link for the lazy,

https://readms.net/r/one_piece/903/5044/1

I'll admit the bit about his bounty going down got me. :D And yes froop - when you think about who came up with the plan and how things were executed, it's really funny that Luffy is getting the credit! :D

@Jimbobob5536,

What do you mean by, how she sees the world? Did I miss something?

She was seeing candy and cakes and rainbows where there weren't any; at least it seemed that way.

She then uses her power to make said things actually be there, so everyone sees her magical land of sweets.

Sugar and Rainbows as far as the eye can see.

I was thoroughly amused that everything was pinned on Luffy, all the while he's depressed about his bounty.

And Bege looks kinda annoyed that Luffy was given the credit for being the mastermind at that.

Oh, we missed this,

https://readms.net/r/one_piece/904/5058/1 where we see 4 commanders appear.

And now this,

https://readms.net/r/one_piece/905/5096/1

where we see the King of Goa is a ... horrible piece of work. At least that's all he is - a slimeball.

PS: Garp is just really awesome in this chapter.

:hmm:

Hrrmmm.... interesting 'treasure'. Looking forward to seeing why that's worth sending assassins after Doffy to shut him up.

Yes, this chapter brings up more questions than answers.

Who is the person looking at that treasure?
Why does the treasure look like Luffy's hat? Or is the hat hiding the treasure from plain sight?

And .. why bother to send assassins to Doffy now? There must have been plenty of chances of killing him a lot earlier than this.

In other news,

Carlos?!?! That idiot who got punched by Luffy? He's back in the story? That's a surprise! Wasn't really expecting to ever see him again!!

On a second read:

Either the mystery person is suuuper tiny or the vault-hat is gigantic.

:hmm:

So Kaidou and Linlin used to be allies or something.

The Gorosei are the most powerful people in the world.

Otohime's lessons were learned and saved Shirahoshi from Charlos.

But fuck all that, WHAT THE HELL IS SHANKS DOING THERE?

That's what I'd like to know, too!

I mean, he's just sitting there, and the Five Elder Stars aren't doing jack to him.

Heck, Shank's isn't doing anything to *them*, either.

As unlikely as it might sound, I'm beginning to wonder if Kaidou and Linlin were a part of the same pirate crew a long time ago? It's tempting to think Rogers, but that's waay too far-fetched.

I like the idea behind the empty throne - a seat that no-one should occupy.

Shanks is a mystery. In fact a lot of things happening are a mystery - like a setup that we won't know the resolution to.

As for that idiot Carlos - can't say I'm surprised by his behavior. What I am surprised by, is that someone (a celestial dragon) stood up to him. Speaking of which, the revolutionary army is up here too, aren't they?

The way I read it implied Kaidou and Linlin are from the pirate generation before Rogers rose to power/prominence.

Interesting - and more plausible than being part of Roger's crew. I didn't think of that before.

Do we consider the generation before Roger's as a pirate generation? After all, his death was what spurred the entire pirate era.

His death bringing the "Golden age of piracy" it's assumed that There were already pirates. That age ended with White beard's death
