One Piece RP OOC Thread

Simple enough to understand. Post your character, OCs, Devil Fruit Abilities, and Citys/Islands here. One we get going, this will also be used for debating story progression and the like.

The actual game will probably start in a few days, maybe a week. Right now we need locations for our adventures to take place on, as well as whacky enemies and abilities to deal with.

Location: Spire Island

Spire island is island consisting almost entirely of a single towering mountain. While relatively uninteresting, its primary geological feature is used by the marines as a training location.

Character: Lieutenant Granite

Lieutenant Granite is the Marine in charge of the recruiting station on Spire Island. Unfortunately, given the number of raw recruits he has to deal with, he has difficulty keeping them in line, leading to friction between the self important recruits and the locals.

Brought to this thread. As more appropriate here.

As stated on Daniel's idea of 5-10 fruit ideas. I think a reasonable distribution of the powers would be 6-3-1, Six Zoan or the Animal Fruits, 3 Parameica or the weird fruits, and one Logia.

This is due to several reasons, one logia are overpowered as all get out, Two Zoan are the most common fruit, and 3 it's a pretty nice ratio.

Actually, Zoan are the second most common, the most common being Paramecia, but yeah, Logia are out until decent progress into the grand line at least.

Random Fruit:
Happiness Fruit
Stone Fruit
Grow Fruit
Shrink Fruit
Llama Fruit

They are?

Oh well. You would think weird powers would be more rare.

Then switch the ratio, I guess.

6 Para, 3 Zoan, and One logia.

Except the Paramecia fruits are the single most random when it comes to usefulness.

It's not all that hard to get a completely useless power from one.

And some that are useless without super strength.

Luffy's Gomu Gomu no Mi is like that, without the absurd strength to stretch himself with pure momentum, it would be pretty much useless.

So is there a map of islands in the Grand Line that haven't been visited by the straw hats, or do we just start making some up?

There's KIND of a map.

But it doesn't describe the islands on it at all.

So up making stuff we are.

We'll be making up our own islands and stuff for the grand line and for the starting sea, as well as some of the characters we'll be running into.

If you guys plan on playing, post your character profiles ASAP.

Are we using the standard TFF formula of 'you, but appropriately rotoscoped' or 'native you' or the golden standard 'anything that fits'?

Name: Virgil "Valiant" Sageson

Proposed Position: Cook/Back up Medic

Skills:Cooking, basic Nursing, minor Weapon Master, Unusual weapon use(Anything in the first aid kit.), common sense.

Equipment: 1 set of pots and pans, 1 stocked spice rack, 5 first aid kits (4 of which are to be scattered around the ship.) 1 set of Ton-fa, 2 short swords, 1 flintlock pistol.

---
Just a basic character sheet of what I had in mind.
He won't be picking up any weapon and using it but he's good with certain sets of weapons, which he might eventually try to expand his repertoire of.

You could also be the ship merchant, if we decided to haul some trade goods around when we sail, it'd be a possible source of secondary income. There's also the position of Quartermaster.

Whatever you want. One Piece is pretty flexible like that.

So, no one is going for the will of D middle initial?

I'll take both. Heh

On the will of D. I wouldn't take it. The line of kings and whatnot.

I should send the fruits to Zero. Being that he is the current GMish person.

Hmm, interesting. So do we have to be pirates on this adventure or could we be marines too?

I think we're all on the same ship.

So what would it take to get Haki sensitivity/basics?

Considering what some fruit can do. It would be appropriate.

Heh some of the fruit I came up with are kinda fun. Chains, Swords, Superballs, and tanks oh my.

The plan is for all of us to be on the same ship, and given how Marines have to follow orders and stuff, it's easier/more fun to be pirates.

If someone has something in mind for their fruit power, go ahead and say what you want. If it's reasonable and/or entertaining, you can probably have it.

As for Haki and stuff, keep it reasonable for us just starting out. I'm planning on having a philosopher type character, who's awareness of the universe allows him to predict attacks. While this is useful, his physical abilities aren't at the level that it'll be useful when fighting the hardcore guys in the grand line. Haki seems to be something to save for somewhere in the Grand Line.

In D&D terms, we're probably level 5 to 10. Pretty kickass compared to normal people, but nowhere near the level of the higher ups, and certainly nowhere near the New World Levels, which would be the equivalent of Epic Level.

Spire Island is going to be the starting location, mainly because of it's out of the way location, and the Marine Training Base located there. The Marine recruit are jackasses and enjoy flaunting their authority, which provides some good friction to inspire us to set out and be pirates.

Also someone we'll be running into at some point

Guardian Pirates:

This crew is composed of Grand Line rejects. For some reason or another, they couldn't take the Grand Line, and now lurk at the last island before West blue's entry to the Grand Line. They prey primarily on other pirate hopefuls, serving as a trail by fire for passage into the Grand Line. While their captain has a bounty, the Marines leave them alone since they make their job easier.

Edit: Does anyone want to NOT be part of the staring crew? Just checking.

@Vog: If you want to be one of the Marine Recruits who sets out to capture us for wrecking the training base. Given how we'll probably be "good" pirates dealing with real bastards, it could be an interesting dynamic with you temporarily suspending your mission to capture us in order to right a greater wrong. If enough people are interested, we might break it into two threads, one following the pirates and one following the marine PCs, with occasional crossovers for battles of awesomeness.

@GhostElder: Sorry, already a fruit for that, and somebody ate it. :p

But given what I have planned for my guy, and the similarities, it could serve as a basis for the slow process of learning.

I'd like a Wind Logia, but If I can't have it well, I have several paramecia to work with.

Potential Zoans for people who want one.
Harpy Eagle, Coyote, Ape, and Peregrine Falcon.

What about someone who's character arc is about finding a specific fruit?

Also what is the time period?

Are we starting in the time skip as one of the pirate crews that were catapulted forward by Whitebeards dieing words?

Or are we one of the rookie groups that entered (or will enter) around the same time as Luffy?

Or are we just in the basic One Piece verse as is with no canon characters?

EDIT: lightwave, no Logia, he just said that.

Why not a Paramecia that grants control over wind or air?

Something similar to that is one of the three fruits my character is going to be gunning for.

The Ideal Fruit: Mera Mera No Mi, which would only be available if this is after the Whitebeard War, and even then it's doubtful as we don't know how long it takes them to appear again, which is why it's the ideal and I have back up's.

The Expected Fruit: (Having trouble with the name, which sounds better: Taku Taku No Mi or Mosu Mosu No Mi? Burn Burn and Blaze Blaze respectively, supposedly, Google translate and all that.)

The Last Resort Fruit: Tori Tori No Mi (Model Peregrine) only if absolutely no chance of getting the other two, though whether or not I have it on me is up to zerohour, if I do have it and get The Expected Fruit then I'll offer it up or sell it.

They go for 1 Million Berries if Buggy's flashback is correct.

Maybe more if we can find an expectant buyer.

I'll take that Paramecia.

Kaze Kaze no Mi. Heh

In exchange I release the Paramecia I made already.

Iron Armor, Ricochet, Sound, Sword, and Chain.

Hmm, how about sensitive but no training to speak of. Perhaps a flash of something during a particularly hard boss fight. Would hold off on any formal training/scrolls until the Grand Line.

Tho no one has stepped up to captaincy yet, that could be a running gag if no one outright takes it. We keep telling people that someone else is the captain, possibly within the span of two or three minutes.

It could also be funny if Valiant get's pushed into Captaincy, then I could have him pull an Elzam, name the ship Trombe, and have his clothes be primarily black with red highlights and a splash of gold.

Then again, I think I tend to have far too much fun making expys.
