Kitsune actually seems to have a complex about being ignored despite her looks.á In school, she'd try to be the rebound girl after Naru rejected a boy, only to get dismissed out of hand.á Keitaro does this once to her as well, basically ignoring her advances.á

Hell, after he gets back from America she comes onto him hot and heavy, and all it took for him to lose interest was Shinobu showing off her highschool uniform.
Honestly, and I'll make this short (I know, shocking): She got what she deserved.

If she spent as much time trying to attract him as she did trying to use him for amusement and profit in the first year, she'd already have him. By the time he was back from America, he was probably so subconsciously gun-shy about simply being around her he would have used any excuse to stay away.
If you really want to start that fight, I'll just say that Kitsune had nothing on Motoko. Remember that before she had a use for Keitaro, she would attack him physically. And given the ability of most students of her style, it was likely with lethal force. There's someone he really should have been gunshy around.
If she had wanted to kill, she'd have killed. She must have held back a ton, knowing what we know about her style now.

I'm not sure how someone can be considered indifferent when they're trying to kill you.
At first, in the Manga, she generally ignored him until she thought he was doing something perverted. In fact there's a point early on where Motoko notices that Keitaro and Naru are getting along, and she thinks it's curious but figures it has nothing to do with her and turns away.

In fact the first time she really goes after him in a fight it was to make him into HER ideal of a strong man. The deal was if Keitaro lost he'd suffer a weak of hell training from her. This is why I get annoyed with fanon when they make her a man hater. She dosen't hate men, but she's not used to dealing with a man like Keitaro and she sure as hell wasn't ready to fall in love with him.

By the time she was, it was too late to make up for lost time and opportunity.

Pretty much. she realized she was falling for him fairly early, but didn't come to full terms till burn up blade, and confessed after failing to get into Tokyo U and the northland arc.

Having read through this several times, I am now imagining a Keitaro where his past and highschool life somehow encompasses all, or at least a great many of, the 'slice of life' comedy manga series. Like the girls come home one day to find Keitaro playing video games with Konata and Haruhi.

And Saya teaching Shinobu some of her favorite recipes in the kitchen?

Probably not Haruhi... Kei's not weird/strange/different enough to be in the S.O.S., even with his comedic invulnerability.

Also as someone commented before... as deadpan, snarky and serious as one could portray/write Kei, he still wouldn't hold a candle to Kyon (without undesired character raep, of the not fun kind).

Kanako can fight a Shinmei Ryu swordswoman with her bare fists, does that mean she's strange enough for the S.O.S.?

Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu. Actually I'd really like to see Haruka interact with Konata, and the Hina girls. Haruka is an Ojou-sama, and possessive of the MC to the point where she was tricked out of her depression by saying if she was going to ignore him then they'd take him for their own.

Haruka knows her family style martial arts while Konata has some Karate, both are Otaku, hmm the more I think about it the more I want this meeting to occur.

Wait just got another idea, throw Kirino from Ore Imo into that mix. Mwahahahaha!

That would make for a more complex megacrossover... I'm nowhere near capable of that as you see I've barely served a 2nd portion and been suffering to dish out a 3rd course of KonataxKei shenanigans.

Although huge thanks to everyone reading/posting for your comments, critiques, concerns and considerations for future Konata induced lulz.

I loved Nogizaka Haruka, heck her storyline would make an awesome "why Keitaro really failed to get into Toudai for 2 years" backdrop. Although she'd probably wind up BEING the promise girl homehow and the maids would have drilled in enough danger sense into Kei that NONE of the Hina Girls would rate any kind of real immediate danger (definite upgrade in my book) :snigger:

And sorry to the fanboys, but I despise Kousaka Kirino (I'm a Saori fanboy, Kuroneko is a close 2nd).

But I want to see Kirino vs Kanako who gets Onii-san fight. Actually Kirino would fit in with her name. Huh?

You know with all their names starting with K.

I'm gonna continue this line of thought in the idea thread.

Otherwise... need some more research to cook up a 3rd serving :p

Addendum: Wing... I might take those names into consideration for possible cameos, but only with their corresponding male leads... the ladies should not necessarily be floating toward Kei :p

Otaku Continue? - The Third Portion
Original shenanigans inspired by Lastofakind's - Press Start Otaku!
Additional content demanded by Teh TFF Hivemind and readers like you!.

It had been about week into Konata’s self-imposed vacation at the Hinata Dorm and the usual dynamics of the house hadn't changed too much. Naru was still being a study-holic. Motoko kept with her exercises. Shinobu was still the mini hausfrau. Kaolla still chased after the flying turtle. And, as expected, Kitsune would continue in possession of the lion’s share of teasing and/or loafing about the house.

Although the new resident Otaku would more often than not cover her best buddy by retaliating for him with her own brand of fun, often gaining temporary support in the form of the younger girls of the house.

Case in point, while said ex-ronin and his friend were busy scrubbing at the flooring surrounding the outdoor bath; the resident vixen had thought to play another prank on the manager. “Sure is quiet today, too quiet…”

She slowly yet playfully snuck about the halls quietly, checking her periphery to observe who in her general periphery, until she arrived at her current location, the door to the Onsen. “Hmm… ‘Do Not Enter: Cleaning in Progress’, since when did we have THIS sign?” she admired the penmanship and lettering of the paper sign.

Moments later, she was startled by the sound of someone approaching, causing her rush off to a corner and ‘accidentally’ taking the sign with her “oops, hope Kei doesn’t mind a little company”. As she took a peek at the door, she spied Naru exiting the change room seconds later with a basket of toiletries in hand, giggling and commenting to herself something about studying a little longer.

“Wonder why she didn’t go ballistic”. Curiosity getting the better of her, she walked back to the change room proper, tossing the sign she had pilfered, noting that her fingers had been smudged with dark black ink “ugh… it must have been a freshly painted sign”.

As she skulked about the room, looking for something to wipe off her hands, she noticed the reason for Naru leaving the room, a bright neon yellow plastic floor sign with the international for “Caution Wet Floor” on it.

While normally it would be nothing to write home about, she struggled to hold in a snicker as she noticed it was comedically defaced: a new cartoonish stick figure was added, it looked like it was kicking the existing fallen stick figure in the triangle logo and above that, the words ‘THIS IS SPARTA!!!’ were added just below the bold CAUTION letters “oh that IS good!”.

Not being one to miss out on a good joke, she looked around, hoping no one would see her. Once sure of her privacy, she made a kicking motion at said sign “SPARTAAaaaaaaah!” only for her to slip on the wet flooring and fall ungraciously on her rump… “Ouch! no wonder the sign was out… oww!”

Once she got her bearings in order and the majority of the pain had subsided, she was glad nobody was around to observe her embarrassing moment “I should really get out of here while the getting is good!”

As the vixen was about to get off scot-free from her incident, the resident kendoka appeared at the door “I thought I heard a noise, are you alright Kitsune-sempai”.

“Yeah… yeah!” the buxom platinum blonde answered sheepishly “almost took a tumble on the wet floor”.

“I should have words with Urashima, he should be more careful when he’s doing maintenance!” Motoko responded with a bit of growing frustration.

“Calm down, it’s not his fault…” the vixen responded, hoping she didn’t get in trouble for her own accident ‘might as well bite the bullet this time ’ pointing at the fallen plastic sign “I didn’t see the wet floor sign”.

“Oh...” softening her expression, the sword maiden walked in to the change room and carefully righted the sign as it was originally intended, then walked back to her housemate with a bit of concern “are you sure you’re okay?”

“Never better!... seriously!” Mitsune replied nervously as she started heading out with a slight limp “I’ll be in my room if you need anything!”

The kendoka just looked at the bombshell and shook her head in disbelief. ‘I’ll tell Shinobu-chan to get her some ice for that in a bit’. She surveyed the change room for anything out of the ordinary, picking up the previously discarded sign ‘looks like it wasn’t a waste of ink’ then walked up to the door that lead to the outdoor bath.

“The fox has left the hen house” she said cryptically to the closed door, only to walk away once she heard a couple of knocks in response. ‘I’m normally not one for subterfuge… but this was actually entertaining.’

On the other side of the door was a petite long haired bluenette with a smile like a cat that just ate the canary. ‘Gotta thank Motoko-chan for that assist… wonder if she’d be willing to cosplay with me too’

“Coulda sworn I heard a noise...” Keitaro thought as he looked around the outside bathing area “everything okay, Kona-chan?”

“just one wet fool” muttered the young lady in question

“Huh? Did you say something?”

“Nothing…” schooling her features back to her normal kitty smirk she waved to her best friend “I’m done over here with the entrance, need help over there?

“almost done…" he replied, and beckoned his friend to sit down by the bath dipping her feet into the warm waters. "you can relax while I finish up.”

Konata had decided to keep herself busy today by assisting the manager of the dorm with the weekly onsen cleaning duties. Most people that knew her would be shocked to know she was doing it voluntarily as she usually let others take care of chores, but she made an exception this time since her friend asked her nicely to join him, while assuring her that he would be doing the heavy lifting.

“Thanks again for helping me out today” commented the manager in question as he pushed a large broom the wet cobblestones that covered the walkable area around the hot spring pool.

“Eh, don’t mention it Kei... besides, I needed a bit of exercise” the bluenette responded as she playfully flexed the bicep of her left arm, earning a laugh from her friend.
