This is my first post on the new forum, not to mention my first in a long while.
So, I got this idea in my head. What if the 3rd Hokage had a present for Naruto (that was also a test) when he came of age? Well, Naruto comes of age once he gets his headband, so the 3rd tells Naruto of his heritage, of being the son of the 4th Hokage. Then, he grants Naruto partial control of a small team of ANBU, led by Yugao Uzuki. There would be restrictions of course, but this would be a semi Coming of Age tale for Naruto. He would learn a bit of what it means to be a leader, and become close with his ANBU Squad, Yugao in particular, since he would start to see her as a sister.
And, at the start at least, a good amount of humor would happen. After all, Naruto will be rather silly with what he does with his new found influence at first. Why get ramen when you can have someone pick it up for you instead?
Anyways, here are some of the things that I would want the fic to focus on.
Naruto would ask for some training from his ANBU, in order to become stronger (and cooler! At least in his eyes.).
Certain events would make it so that Hayate Gekko would survive the whole Suna invasion thing, and he might teach Naruto some Kinjutsu as well with Yugao's help.
And here are the restrictions that Naruto would have.
*Anything that would put him, a member of the village, or the village itself in undue danger would be something that the Squad can refuse to do.
* No one other than fellow ANBU or the Hokage himself could know that Naruto has semi control over his own ANBU Squad, which means that he can't just call on them to steamroll his enemies unless his life is in extreme danger.
* The more Naruto rises up in the ranks, the more people he could allow to know of the whole deal, and the more orders he'd be able to give.
I could add more along the course of the story when I think of them. And of course, no harems or bashing. In fact, I don't think this fic will have a paring at all.
So, tell me what you think. And any ideas that could make it better, or at least readable, would be welcome. I hope this idea at least sounds good...
