Petition for FF.net, Yaoi removal.

I think you all know how frustratying is to search for a good fic amongst the hundreds of crappy ones on ff.net. I'm not complaining about that, hell i'm a crappy writer myself (*Ads proudly: FOR NOW*).

But lately whenever you try finding a fic all you can see on your screen is YAOI, and frankly i'm getting sick of it. Besides the fact that most of them are badly written without any regards to the series at all in character behaviour and stuff, many have NO REAL connection with the series they're in..

Hell i don't know about how many High School yaoi fics i saw in just ONE page in the Naruto section, the only thing that makes those things to be placed where they are are the NAMES and honestly it sucks. Also what's up with allowing yaoi pr0n but no straight one? I don't know which one the majority of people practice but i'm sure as hell that most of them are straight.

So here comes my ideea: Let's make a petition to request that the yaoi fandom to be removed from the normal category's from ff.net and have a category of it's own, this way everybody wins:

We get to search our fav's easier and without hassle and yaoi fans get they're own place to hang around... everybody's happy.

So what do you guys say? Are with me in this one?

I hate yaoi i admit it but i also respect others opinions and views that's why i'm suggesting the creation of they're own section and not the total removal of they're fics.

Yah, just like how you have to specify to see the M-rated fics you should have to specify to the see the yaoi as well, either that or completely remove them from the site entirely and make a new site exclusively for them, like they did for the NC-17 fics and AFF .net, they can just make YFF .net (yaoi fanficiton .net) for the yaoi fans, then everybody's happy.

Sign me up!!!! Down with Yaoi! :lonegunman:

Okay, they can still have it. But at least have a way to distinguish the differences! You know, like filters so that I don't have to see it everytime I go to FFN?

Some sort of filter would be appriciated, moving it to a different site feels like too much of a hazzle, as I do read 'em whenever I find one that seems intriguing in the favorites of some member who's judgement I trust.

But that's just lazy ol' me, who don't want to cruise yet another site for interesting fanfiction. :)

On the other hand, most of this material seems to be archieved under the T-rating, probably so it'll show up when checking 'Just in' and result in an increase in reviews due to more readers. It would be a *tremendous* amount of work and the ffnet admins would have to work 24/7 to clean things up on their end, but reporting the fics in question for being in violation of the rating system would most likely result in their removal.

I figure that's a project for me to amuse myself with some rainy day when I have absolutely nothing else to do with my time, then preform this great service for fanfiction reading humanity. Very few homosexual fics that are actually worth the read are rated T anyway. :)

'Very few'...? You're being overly generous. I consider all of the T-rated yaoi trash. Usually, the good ones have mature ratings, and not necessarily for sex.

Mmm, I'm not sure.

Granted, 'yaoi' should be removed on the principle of actually being porn, and thus NC-17 material (which, according to FF.net rules, isn't supposed to be there). However, shounen-ai has it's own place. That is, where it doesn't actually contain any sexual content, but features male/male relationships.

Shounen-ai = Male/Male relationship.

Yaoi = Male/Male Lemon.

In either case, it's not going to happen. FF.net is very lazy, and doesn't actually look into most of this stuff. This junk is going to continue until these 'writers' actually stop masturbating to gay porn and move on to other fetishes. It's why I don't browse FF.net anymore, or at least not much.

It would be a lot easier and more realistic to hope someone will make a new fanfiction site with rules against yaoi/shoujo-ai. I thought about it once, but it would have to be on some free site, would be a lot of trouble, and in the end would be useless, because it wouldn't have any fics.

Mmm, the female equivalent of yaoi is yuri, you know.

Yuri = Female/Female Lemon
Yaoi = Male/Male Lemon
Shoujo-ai = Female/Female Relationship (pairing, whatever)
Shouen-ai = Male/Male Relationship

Actually, Anifics has started a fanfiction website that has a Yuri/Yaoi filter. Granted, the site is still in the beta phase, but if it works, it'll be quite handy.

How about creating a filter like the one for M rated storyes? Name it Y and voila all the yaoi storyes can be accesed in that category..

That's what we've been suggesting. I mean, if they are going to allow for it, at least have a way for us to filter it.

Signed.

The yaoi/shounen-ai bullshit has made the Naruto section essentially unbrowseable. And that's far from the only section it's done that to, but I don't read any of the others.

If you think Naruto's section is bad, try dropping in on the YYH or Gundam Wing sections. It's some sort of nightmare.

Oh, I've heard it wrecked those sections too. But I don't read fanfics for either one of them, though I've read 9 volumes of the YYH manga.

There's only one fic with YYH involved in it that I care about on FFnet, and it's in the Ranma section because it's a cross between the two series: Kizmet's story Friends Old and New.

And I don't read (or watch) anything Gundam ever.

Hey hey hey, some of the UC Gundam series were pretty good, like Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory or Mobile Suit Gundam: 08th MS Team. Ignoring the lame shit like Wing and SEED, the oldies were pretty good.

/ me heils Zeon \o

I have no idea about what their fandoms are like though...

Edit: WOAH, /.me actually works on this board? Freaky.

Meh, the only way I can actually see FFnet making a yaoi filter is with money to motivate the lazy bastards.

Consider me signed for this petition in any case. Maybe they'll listen for once.

yeah I prefer to not read them so it would be nice if there was some way for the writer to label them and therefore you can find out if it is a yaoi fic or not before reading it.

or better would be to have it so you can label the story for what pairings are inside and have multiple listings to show multiple pairings that would be in the story.

of course ff.net isn't exactly known for figuring these sorts of things as that would require common sense.

and as we should all know that isn't allowed there. :lol:

Ficwad does that. You can tag a fic with EVERY character that's in it, and IIRC, there's a yaoi tag too.
