Sparks seems to be the most popular Team Leader, despite Team Instinct not being as popular.

I think it's because most people who started up before these fan art comics really came into play picked either Valor or Mystic because of their color ties to either Red, Blue, or Yellow.

Then these fan art comics started coming and made Spark into a gigantic dork that everyone relates to.

PRobably because most people picked their teams before the team leaders were revealed and added to the game.

Also, this is just a personal theory, but I suspect that team Instinct has more fanart because they have a disproportionate number of creative/artsy personality types compared to the other teams.

I love how the fanbase has decided that Blanche, Spark and Cadella are all best friends and close comrades, when in-game the only evidence of their relationships with each other is that they are all leaders of rival teams that fight pokemon battles over control of gyms.

Well to be fair, all three of them are also assistants to Professor Willow, and all three of them are researchers as well, so to that end, working under the same guy, they'd nominally have to get along.
