Hunter nerfs made you abandon your main?

...
...
...

Dare I ask what sort of nerfs you're talking about? And why you haven't gone back since they got rid of the dead zone and gave everyone Scatter Shot?

Well, after a LONG time of not being able to get in, well, I'm going to add another character to the list I have up here. ^_^

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.x...mere&n=Aliiaaki

This is the one from the old TFF server that, as you can see, I haven't abandoned (I also haven't left the now dead TFF guild. :p) since I didn't want to abandon her. Spent so much time getting to 20, might as well keep going. Up to lvl 30 now.

And I'm sure many of you have noticed, I haven't been really playing the Bloodscalp one that much. This is manly due to the fact that I want to get my previously mentioned mains (on two different servers) to 70 first, and the fact I have WAY too many characters to begin with. The reason why I have so many is due to the fact I enjoy trying something new. Mage? Sure I'll see what they like? Priest? Druid? Why not? Don't like it, I'll delete him/her.

Doesn't help much either that, my main Horde character is on a PvP, so doing grinding missions is harder due to the risk of being ganked in higher lvl zones. And of course, building up my skill to sell stuff to get more gs.

In fact, I already deleted three characters in the past. Obviously too many characters = negligence for some I don't play that often.

Say WHAT?! When did they give everyone Scatter Shot?

As to nerfs, pets dont hold agro very well anymore, to the point that after 2 or 3 auto shots, Im kiting. I never had any problem with the dead zone either. Also, I almost regenerate NO mana at all even with AotV on. This is going to be changed in 2.4.2 though, so I might break her back out.

Edit: Double checked and triple checked. Scatter Shot is still a 30 point marksman talent and theres nothing in the patch notes about making it trainable for every hunter...

Odd, I coulda sworn I'd heard they gave it to all hunters... or maybe that was just something the hunters were whining about being a fair trade if other classes got buffed... anyway, what spec were you? because I haven't met a BM hunter yet (or Demo warlock, for that matter) who couldn't pretty much demolish or survive running from anything he came across.

edit: Maybe it's your pet. What kind of pet were you using? and are you Misdirecting some big aggro shots to it? Also, hunters need mana? Since when? You're perfectly capable of pwning anything you come across without it :p as a mage, I think BM hunter's pets need a biiiiiig nerf. Immunity to magic means you just rip us to shreds before we can do jack.

edit2: Aspect of the Viper works best if you have high intellect to begin with. L2stack int like the rest of us mana-using classes, and l2drink after every few fights like the rest of us mana-using classes (except arcane mages.)

edit3: Scatter Shot is a 21 point talent, foo.

edit4: Do instances for better gear. You seriously need it. L2trap as cc if you haven't already.

Youre right...shows how much I play marksman, huh?

As for my pet, I use a raptor. Claw and bite 9, max rank growl. I DO use misdirect...when the two minute cool down is up.

The pet seems to be made out of glass lately. I watched a warrior in AV DESTROY my pet in 3 hits...and that was when he was in Beastial Wrath. Then he preceded to spamstring me to death. Nothing I could do.

As for stacking int... +int = -agility/crit/ap which ultimately = LESS DAMAGE. Hunters shouldnt need int, AND ammo, AND attack power, AND agility, AND crit... We are NOT a caster class. Were a physical damage class with mana. Blah.

...I just really dont care anymore.

I'd post mine (I'm a lvl 70 resto shammy) but I'm too embarrassed about my weak gear (only about 500 bonus spell dmg in my normal gear, 1200 heal in my healing gear), and my profs are also low since I recently changed...

Hnn, here's me in my PVP gear.

Astarael of Deathwing (Alliance)

I've got some mixed T5/T6 raid gear but I haven't raided in quite a while as the time constraints became worse the further into Black Temple I got and eventually it got down to RL or WoW and so thus I took up PVP, now I've had Vengeful Glad assuered for awhile now so I sell arena points now and make a pretty penny, that's about it, not playing WoW that much anymore, it's gotten boring for me so I'm just waiting till WotLK hits to make things interesting again, locks get demon form hell yah.

Looks like I forgot to mention my Bloodscalp toon. :p

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.x...calp&n=Tiaelina

lvling has been slowed only because, well, besides the desire to BG before getting 70, I do have other toons I play that I want to get to 70 first. The main one, my Blood Elf Warlock on the Gurubashi server, is one of them. While only one bar away from 60, that toon has been stuck at 59 since, I want to squeeze as much PvP honor experience as I can. After all, once she hits 70, I want her fully decked out in Epic Gear. Figures the first post I'd make in a long, long time would be in the WoW forum, which wasn't even here last time I checked.

http://armory.worldofwarcraft.co.kr/charac...B%9E%80&n=Hippo

Rerolled after getting rid of my Rogue (and believe me, brothers and sisters, I regret that decision every single waking moment) and started a shammy with the intent to play around with my friends and have a little fun playing at being a non-raider.

As you can see by my professions (used to be herb+mining, honest), I wasn't very successful at the non-raiding bit. So that's my explanation of where I've been.

(Un)fortunately, I'm not planning to enter Sunwell Plateau anytime soon, so I'm looking to maybe get some time to start writing again.

Fuck you, and your sexy, sexy gloves ; (.

How the fuck did you get the sunmotes to make those without being in the swp? Or the Hard Khorium Band?

Outclasses me by a decent margin ; (... Though most of it can only be done if you endgame raid more then i've been able to.

edit: realized I logged in my lol-ele set... but you have a good 90ish ap, 2% crit, and 1% haste over me.

Korean servers run trash runs on the first pack in SWP, selling the motes, gems and designs that drop for exorbiant amounts of money. Sunfire Robes and the rogue leather piece in particular sell for around 40,000G each. Motes you can pick up for around 1k each, so theoretically it's possible to get up to 4 Sunwell-level pieces of gear without ever setting foot inside the instance (JC neck and ring, crafting profession gloves+chest). Of course, it'd cost you around 70~80k to do it, but it's possible.

Just hit lvl70 four days ago.. And let me tell you am I depressed. I thought to myself.. "70.. at last.. Now I can have fun".

That's until I found out that average gear for 69 equals terrible gear for 70 and that I can look forward to months and months of rep. and honor grinding just to get semi decent gear.. just so I can get into raids.. to get more gear.. (T_T) :rip1:

Anyway.. Ancelin NE Rogue on Khaz'Gorath

My main is a lvl 70 BE pally, who's been raiding Kara for a couple of weeks. I'm normally either a tank or a healer for the group, but since our guild is taking a couple of weeks off, I switched into ret and started gathering gear.

Evangal of the Shattered Sun on Hellscream server.

God, I just saw the pally talents and spells they're adding in Wrath, and holy crap they're awesome.

Lot of servers do this. It's not as common now as it was when SWP first opened, but you can usually find a Sunwell trash PUG on weekands. Lotta good drops and patterns you can pick up, not to mention gems and sunmotes.

Selling for 40k!?...must be the gold farming. Most I've seen a chest pattern go for on my server is 15k.

And damn you for having a Mounting Vengeance. I've seen it drop six times...and lost every one. :blue:

It's rather easy to get geared up, depending on your situation.

If you want to be a pve raider, easiest thing to do is first get 27000 honor and buy your s2 swords.

Buy as many rep items as you can get (best things are stuff like the shattered sun pendant, if you're exalted with your faction (and particularly, aldor), or the other shattered sun stuff).

Next, start farming badges. Get as many badges as you can fucking get asap. Spend all day running heroics if you have to, and doing a kara once a week. Gear from Kara/Heroics will start helping you out (make sure to do heroics that are either easy (UB, Mech, Bot, Ramps, etc., or heroics that have gear you want (Mech/BM/BF for trinkets, SP for the pants, etc.). Horde them until you can buy either the chest piece or the pants from the 2.4 stuff. Then buy the other piece.

Whatever you do, DONT sink badges into the badge fists or daggers. They seem awesome, but you WILL do better rogue-y dps with the s2 swords.

After you have those pieces, and shit from heroics/kara, start spending your badges on the nyn'jah tabi boots or the master assassin wristwraps.

This entire time, you should be looking for a guild. Make sure its a serious guild, but one at your level. If you can, and you're over the age of 18, try to find a 'mature' guild, as those i've found tend to have a lot less drama, and more fun people.

Whatever you do, don't waste time grinding honor for the rest of your s2 gear, with the exceptions of maybe the s2 helm.

Bjorn could probably give you better advice for this shit, though.

Follow Ike's advice and spend aaaaaaaall day doing heroics, and go to Kara (I dunno if the servers over there have gold PUGs where you can buy epics for small amounts of money. If they do, go at all costs and gobble up everything. Fucking everything.).

The badge pants (Scryer's Retainer's blah) are on par with the tier 6 pants. Get them ASAP. They will rock your socks off and last you well into t6 content. Angelista's Revenge and Master Assassin's Wristwraps are also two relatively cheap and very very decent upgrades. Next ones that come to mind are the Bloodlust Brooch, Belt of the Silent Path, Choker of Vile Intent (very cheap and very good, but Shattered Sun Pendant is better if you have the rep for it). The boots are also great. If you're short on badges but high on money, make or have someone make for you:

Carapace of Sun and Shadow (unrealistic) BoE pattern that makes a BoP chestpiece which will blow everything you have ever seen out of the fucking water. Requires maxed leatherworking to make.
Gloves of Immortal Night (also unrealistic) BoP pattern that makes a BoE set of gloves which will also blow everything you have ever seen out of the fucking water. Srsly.
Swiftstrike Shoulderpads (expensive) A very good set of shoulders, especially if you're upgrading from greens/blues. Requires maxed LW to make.
Swiftstrike Wristguards (also expensive) Same as above. BoE.
Belt of Deep Shadow (affordable) A very decent belt, though the badge belt is better, I think. Still, pick it up if you need the badges for something else. BoE.
Boots of Utter Darkness (also affordable) BoP set of boots that are pretty decent. Of course, the badge boots are better by a wide margin. Pick this up last.

If you're confident in your skill (i.e. not getting fucking killed trying to sap things) take this build (combat fists/swords) and buy the badge fist MH (keep the merc. glad's OH blade). Better sustained DPS by far.

DO YOUR DAILIES. ALL 25 OF THEM. I cannot stress this enough. Use your money to buy phat lewts, including but not limited to decent gems (I'd say blue gems for everything, epic gems for t5 loot and above, but it's up to you to decide when to go for epics), decent enchants (enchant for DPS, not survivability. Ideally, you should never be tanking) and a fast mount. Check this page for tips on what gems, enchants etc to select, as well as general tips on Rogue raiding and PvE in general.

The Shard of Contempt from Heroic Magister's Terrace will actually last you FAR into Sunwell Plateau. Pick it up even if you have to knife the prot warrior and the resto shaman to get it. I'm only half joking.

That's all I can think of for the moment.

edit: If you're going PvP, I can't help you since I have no experience in that field. But I hear it's hella fun.

edit 2: Picked up the Council's mail helm and Illidan's ring, woot! But no Sargeras, no DST and still no Berserker's Call. /sob

I'm sitting on Berzerker's Call/Shard of Contempt, but I passed on a DST one guild run because I had just gotten the Call the night before ; (.

For reference, Atharris, this is my toon http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.x...usher&n=Ikefury.

He has stats equivalent to a t6 Enhance Shaman (1710 ap, 29.84% crit unbuffed, on top of some sick (~6%) haste), but the furthest I've ever gone is downing Leo in SSC.

The reason? Badge Gear. Buy it. Now.
