Ya know, I really need to go back some point and fix that stupid spelling error I made over and over again. Ah well, since Lord Raa asked, here's what I've got so far for the next chapter of my Raised in Roanapur fic.

First two chaps here: Raised in Roanipur

"Ikari."

Gendo sat impassively as the figure hidden behind his identity of Seele member 03 addressed him. Taking his silence as an invitation, the voice continued.

"It seems we were quite wrong about you and your little projects. The damages to the city and Unit 01 are well below the amount we allocated to your budget for acceptable losses. See to it that this trend continues into the future."

"Your magnanimity is greatly appreciated," Gendo replied dryly. Riling up his benefactors was always one of the more pleasant parts of such meetings.

"Enough of your posturing, both of you. And watch your words Ikari," warned the only other visible figure, his eyes hidden behind a large cybernetic visor. "Remember, we only need you to operate NERV and ensure that the Instrumentality Project is successful; that is something I'm quite sure you are capable of with, or without that tongue of yours."

Gendo inclined his head minutely. "Of course, I shall take care not to speak in such a way in the future."

"See that you do so. And how is the Intel Op proceeding?"

"The MAGI have scrubbed ninety percent of all traffic exiting the city of any relevent data. All internet uploads have been routed through NERV's satellite terminals and have been thoroughly checked for footage and references before the transmissions are completed. The media is also under complete blackout and has been given prepared documents to read to the public."

"Good. Once again I am reminded why we have kept you on. Your competency, unlike some I could name, is rather refreshing. I believe that is all we have to discuss for today. You may now resume your duties Ikari."

With that the various figures disappeared one by one until only Gendo remained. He stared at the empty table with a slight frown before getting to his feet and turning to leave. "'You may now resume your duties'. Pathetic old men," he muttered to himself. "They might think that they possess the upper hand for now, but soon enough..."

"So tell me again why I have to got to a public school?"

Misato sighed and balanced her chair on two legs as she leaned back and stared at Shinji while he went about cooking their breakfast. It was a question she herself had asked the Commander upon arriving and meeting with Rei, and while she could certainly see the benefits of having her interact with other people outside of NERV, she still didn't understand why they were putting such important and possible targets like the pilots into an easily exploitable location. In the end, and as much as she wanted to agree with him regarding her security concerns, she still had to follow orders.

"Because the Commander said so," she said flatly. Her mood picked up a bit as another through occurred to her. "Why, are you disappointed that you won't get to spend more time with little ol' me? You've had two weeks already, has that been enough to make it hard for you?"

Shinji sniffed as he set her plate down in front of her before sitting down with his own. "Yes, I shall spend every second pining away for you, I can't live beyond the presence of my beautiful goddess that is my guardian."

Misato snorted and gave her head a shake as she dug into her food. "I know, what would your life have been like if you didn't have me to brighten it for you?"

"You mean still at home with my Uncle, comfortably unaware of the Eva, the Angels, and just how much of an asshole my father really is?" he gave her a sardonic quirk of his brow. "For some strange reason, that doesn't actually sound too bad to me."

"Argh!" Misato shouted as she dramatically tossed her hands in the air. "Fine, be that way. If that's how you really feel then I guess you also wouldn't miss me giving you rides to the school either?"

Shinji froze, refusing to meet Misato's eyes in favour of staring at his plate. The violet haired woman grinned as she added a mark to her mental scoreboard before turning back to her food. The pair finished their meal in silence and carried their dishes back into the kitchen to be washed off. Shinji scrubbed the plates off and rinsed them before handing them to Misato to dry, a mutually satisfactory arrangement they had settled on soon after Shinji had moved in.

The teenage Evangelion pilot finished washing the last of the dishes and handed it off to Misato before drying his hands and leaving the kitchen to grab his school bag. He slung his bag over his shoulder and turned to leave his room before pausing. Casting a furtive glance over to the door, he reached into coffin bed - which was surprisingly comfortable, even if incredibly creepy and morbid - pulled out one of his pistols from under his pillow, the gun disappearing into his school bag before he closed the door to his room.

Misato was waiting patiently - for her at least - by the door, one hand holding it open and the other spinning around her car keys. She gave him a warm smile as he passed her before she turned and locked the door. The pair walked through the apartment complex and out to Misato's car, parked on the street since the entrance to the complex's garage was under repairs, and exchanged some idle talk about NERV and some of the movies they had caught on television.

The ride was far too short for Shinji's liking, and all too soon he found himself standing in front of the gate to Tokyo-3's only high-school. Misato was leaning against the hood of her car with a concerned look on her face. The moment Shinji had gotten out of the car his face had blanked into an empty mask that she knew all too well; after all, she had the same look when she had returned to school after Second Impact.

"Hey," she began quietly, her usual smile barely present. "If you need a bit more time, maybe I can tell Ritsuko that you aren't feeling well and you needed to stay home for a couple days. I mean, it's not like there's any real rush right?"

Shinji allowed himself a small smile and shook his head slightly. "Nah, that's fine. I'm just not too sure how well I'll fit in with, well, you know, everything."

"Bah," she waved away his protest with laugh. "Who wants to fit in anyways? Normal is for pussies. The people who stick out are far more fun, like me." She paused and gave him a look of mock seriousness. "Just warn me before you get something really out there, like a tattoo, got it?"

The look slipped from her face as Shinji fidgeted at her words. "Oh don't tell me." She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair. "I'm late enough as it is already. We'll talk about it when I'm done at work though, got it?"

The black haired teen grinned and gave Misato a surprisingly crisp salute. "Aye-aye Captain! I shall eagerly await this evening, so I can drop my pants for your proper inspection!"

The Major's jaw dropped and her cheeks flushed scarlet as she stared at Shinji. The only thing keeping her from drawing her pistol and gunning the teen down right then and there was the fact that the two where alone in the parking lot, all of the other students having made their way inside the school as they had pulled up.

"You... " she shook her head amusedly. "You really are one heck of a kid. Now, get gone before I do something we both regret."

Shinji let his arm fall and his grin turned into a warm smile as he began to walk towards the school. "Take care and have a good day at work Misato," he called over his shoulder. "I'll see you later."

Misato leaned against her car for another minute before the ear-to-ear grin on her face loosened enough for her to properly display expression. It had been a long time since she had someone to wish her well like that; not since her mother had died shortly before she had started college. It was a simple gesture, but a touching one. She spared a moment to give the school one last glance before getting into her car and leaving.

The drive from the school to the Geofront took her more than twice as long as it usually did, helped in part by the fact that not once did she exceed the posted speed limits.

There had been surprisingly little paperwork that had needed her attention, and Misato had it filled out and completed not long after she had arrived. Part of it was thanks to the fact that damages to the city had been lighter than initially expected. The other part was thanks to the fact that most of the paperwork could be handled by lower ranked members of NERV, a perk that Misato had taken advantage of from the moment she had taken up the position as Operations Director.

With little else to do, and several hours until Shinji got out of school, she decided to engage in one of her favorite past-times: bothering Ritsuko.

"Hey Ritsy! Whatchya doin'?"

The blonde scientist heaved a sigh and spun her chair around to find her friend in a seat of her own."I was, until you decided to grace me with your prescence, taking a look at the data from Shinji's tests and simulations."

Misato chuckled and propped her feet up on a section of clear space on Ritsuko's desk, much to the scientist's irritation. "Already referring to him by his first name? How forward of you."

"Oh please, unlike some I could name, I'm not so desperate for company as to resort to seducing teenaged boys."

Misato narrowed her eyes and stared daggers into the back of Ritsuko's head as the blonde scientist continued to pore over her various computer screens. Their verbal duels were something the pair had engaged in on and off since they had first met in college, and while entertaining, oftentimes they would end only when one of them crossed one of many lines. Lines that Ritsuko was skirting very dangerously.

"Well," Misato drawled slowly. "At least I have people to keep me company, instead of a house full of cats. And I'll have you know that I have not been 'seducing' Shinji."

Ritsuko rolled her eyes and tapped a few commands into the computer. "Maybe, but my cats actually care for me outside of a quick lay. He's a teenaged boy, really all you need to do to seduce him is to walk around in your off-duty clothes and you'll have him hanging off your every word."

"And at least my sex life extends beyond my own fingers and toys. Shinji's been a perfect gentleman while he's been with me. Hell, he's treated me better than Kaji ever did, and he isn't even sleeping with me regularly!"

"Regularly?" Ritsuko asked as she paused in her typing and turned to face a blushing Misato. "Do you mean to tell me that you have actually slept with the Third Child?"

Misato fidgeted under her friend's stare and looked elsewhere in an attempt to avoid meeting her eyes. "It was only once, the second night he had moved in. We'd gotten drunk after going to th—"

"You got him drunk!" Ritsuko demanded incredulously." And then slept with him! Do you have any idea what kind of disaster that kind of information could cause if it went public?"

Misato raised her hands defensively."Hey, nothing happened alright! All we did was sleep, nothing more!"

The two of them stared at each other silently for a few minutes before Ritsuko turned back to her computers with a shake of her head. Misato let out a breath she hadn't even been aware that she'd been holding and removed her feet from her friend's desk.

"Honestly," she said finally, "he's nothing at all like what I expected."

Ritsuko sighed. "My my, from the way you keep going on about him, am I going to have to worry about calling you Ikari Misato soon?"

A low growl from Misato caused the blonde to smile and add another tally mark next to her name on her mental scoreboard. The Operations Director reached over and playfully smacked her friend on the arm, fully aware of her current thoughts.

"Prat. He's only fourteen, and that's—"

"Fifteen actually," Ritsuko corrected without looking up. "He was born prematurely three days after Second Impact due to complications caused by the event."

Misato blinked in surprise. "Really?" she asked. "Huh, didn't know that."

"Most people don't. I'm only aware of that knowledge as a privilege of my position as supervisor for the Children and Evangelions, and all the other relevant data associated with them." Ritsuko paused again and turned to fix Misato with a flat stare. "Don't you have work you should be doing?"

"Nope," Misato said with an impish grin. "Finished up everything I needed to then handed the rest off to the Bridge Boys since they have nothing else to do. Which means that unless an Angel attacks, you're stuck with me for the next couple of hours."

Ritsuko sighed and tiredly rubbed at the bridge of her nose. Some days, she thought, it truly isn't worth getting out of bed. Truly. A moment later another thought occurred to her. Hmm, now I do actually wonder how Shinji is doing. How peculiar.

The two old friends let their conversation lapse into a comfortable and familiar silence, each of them busy with their own thoughts.
Oh, and also for LR, a little crackish Omake he might appreciate.

Sachiel blinked in surprise as Eva-01 suddenly appeared in front of it. Well, as close to blinking as it physcilly manage as it found the Eva's prog knife buried in its core. As it fell backwards it couldn't help but wonder at just how easily and quickly it had fallen.

Where did that thing come from? It wasn't there before? It certainly couldn't have been hiding. It would have taken a tactical genius to...

The NERV bridge was uncharistically silent as they watched the Third Angel rear back its head as if screaming. And, despite lacking any visible source for it, the monstrous being let out a thunderous roar. They were even more confused when they could actually understand it. Of course, once they realized what it was screaming, they all turned to face a smugly grinning Misato as she watched everything happen according to her plan. Everything.

At that moment, in a universe far, far away in time, a certain Imperial legend smiled as one of his pupils put his skills and lessons to her own good use.
