Neji pulling an Itachi has the small problem of any knowledgable main-family Hyuuga using the seal against him and killing him with a gesture.
Now, if he's enough of a genius to have somehow broken the seal without killing himself and without the clan head becoming aware, that's one thing. Unfortunately, I suspect the seal can't be removed at all.

Why wouldn' he kill Hanabi? Considering she's Hiashi's choosen favorite I'd imagine she probably has a helluva attitude problem. And he was willing to kill Hinata who treated him like an older brother and with more respect than Branch members usually get from Main house members. Hell, if he was gonna snap and kill em all he might even start with her; just to spite his dear old Uncle.
I happen to like Hinata as a character (though she's made to stutter in fiction way too much and the pairing is too saturated) so the idea of her being an Uchiha stalker rather than a Hyuuga one interests me. How would this work out, Sasuke is a Hyuuga instead and Hinata is left as the sole survivor? Or would this take place in an AU where Itachi doesn't decide to go on a killing spree?

There are several ways to justify the sucessful slaughter, from "they were asleep" to "Neji is a genius" to "Whatever the hell the next Byakugan does." I hadn't really thought to hard about it, though I suppose I should. And yes, I meant cousin--my bad.
As for Hanabi's death? I hate Hanabi. Really, she could just as well be alive, though that would probably have major repurcussions in the fic.

I think it's darn good, (at least entertaining with some good concepts) although it's strange that an outside Hyuuga is brought in to decimate the clan. Main House, no less, and he only decides to decimate the Branch House. Sadly, there's little focus on them afterwards, save for a few moments with Neji (who is one of the main characters of the fic. Basically, there's all kinds of stuff with Gennins/Chunnins getting kidnapped left and right. I'm going to avoid saying who, because it'd spoil the end of the first book, but let's just say that this story arc starts ... I think it acts as if Naruto and the others succeeded in bringing Sasuke back.)
