Which was the point. Current situation is that he's fighting opponents who can quickly move out of melee and fight him at range, whereas he can't even reliably use a Getsuga. Outside of that it's more suited as a distraction, if he can't use an energy-based ranged attack or as a part of the filler fighting style.

Ichigo beat her in a fight when they were 11 or so and never fought her again. Not much of an indication for his fighting prowess, even if I'd still class him as a damn good martial artist.
But I'd agree he would have been better off with something like a gauntlet (Edit: Or even that Fullbring sword which might have been small enough to suit his original style). And having a armour-based power never stopped Chad from whacking people from a distance.

I liked the seeming idea that Tensa Zangetsu's broken chain is supposed to connect to the arm in a gauntlet if he'd completed his bankai, which seemed to be the case with Mugetsu but sadly turned out to just be some fused to the arm bullshit instead. Was much better than the alternatives I'd been considering around the time, something akin to Hitsugaya's shikai with an additional blade on the other side, or even a second smaller weapon instead.
Just one of the mass of things cast aside for the power fusion bullshit sadly, but twas a fun thought while it lasted. :sweat2:

Syzael vs. The Overkill. Man who starts off making clones, verses the guy who gets stronger killing things.
AA vs. The Yourself. Man Copying a man vs. Man Who Copies a man.
Nnoitra vs. Cang Du. Battle of the Iron Skins.
Roboman vs. Starrk. Spam ahoy! Better Still double up with Quincy Colonel Sanders so they actually stand a chance, plus get two gunslingers in on the fight. :sisi:
Halibel vs. The Heat. Superheated Water vs. Superheated Fire.
And of course, Mask de Masculine vs. Yammi. Truly the beatdown Yammi Deserves. :snigger:

Yamamoto & Choujuurou vs Yhwach & Juugo.
Prompted by a post on some random forum that we'd been deprived of an epic battle between the top dogs of the Shinigami and the Quincy with Yamamoto curbstomping a fake and then getting one-shotted. Take that a little further and you get a pair of back-to-back badasses in a world-wrecking battle.
Bankai theft would be a downer though.

Hopefully Hollowified Yamamoto leads to a Hollowified Hitsugaya sort of Bankai, I think it could work given how West protects him. Would be pretty freaking awesome.
In other potential combat scenarios, how about switching up who fights who in the Privaron battles. Say Chad fights the Don guy instead, or Renji's the one who faces down Thunderwitch, and maybe Ishida has to take on Mosqueda. Obviously the Bankai Retcon turned off for such matches because the vibro blades would wreck his bankai with direct hits.
Chad could pretty much definitely take the Don since he was by far the least impressive of the three, only real change would that it would be more of a legs vs. arm fight which turns ranged because of the beaks more than anything else. Pretty much a different variation of the Mosqueda fight only the guy's less durable and honestly doesn't break as much to the table by comparison.
Thunderwitch was the most impressive though and pretty much only went down explicitly because of how the Quincy Lightsaber worked but the way that fight went down was pretty much directly a result of how Ishida fights rather than anything else. Restructuring it around how Renji fights instead could give different results, and probably a fun Shikai vs. YoYo thingy bout to boot.
