So... You're saying that the comedy comes from the fact that Ranma is subjected to slavery?

You know, one of human history's greatest injustices?
Not to defend the idea, as I do not like it myself, but...

One can argue he is enslaved in canon... after all he is forbdden from leaving by his father, and the engagements are the fault of his father, and whenever something comes up he is browbeaten into correcting it or given no choice...

Its dumbledork Lord Raa, of course he/she thinks its funny. On topic, I think you should incorporate this story into the background fluff of Tactile Retreat. It would be a funny aside explaining a little of Sagara's skill at fighting barehanded and his blase attitude toward fighting that one karate kid, he just so pathetic compared to Instructor Saotome.

Even better idea: Ranma gets summoned by Louise, Louise tells him she is now his master, he says "No way bitch", then continues on to go and wtfpwn most of the ZnT world (with the exception of maybe a few of the really powerful mages who will present a challenge) until he finds a way to return home.

Idea fixed!

Hmmm... also while doing that falls for Kirche and Tabitha... or maybe Henrietta instead.

Hmmm... I want to see a Ranma and Carmen Sandiego cross...

She could be one of Ranma's Sensei from the training trip, Ranma engaged to her, or Ranma's Mother.

That could be an interesting story.

What if Carmen was Ranma's mother and she took him on a training trip like Genma did in canon?

That could prove to have some interesting changes.

What if it's a role reversal where Genma is now trying to find Ranma (so he can marry him off to Akane or whatever)

I was thinking the Sensei route made most sense... given what we've known her to do, and her occupation, it would not be beyond the realm of possibility she knew or met Genma, and he asked her for training or techniques or they were on some antic together...

But if going as her as Nodoka... If Carmen was now older, and the events of series or games took place in past, Genma could have met her during Happosai's training trip... and her being Nodoka was her laying low so law did not catch her. The problem is I cannot picture how Genma could take him from her and her not find them sooner than ten years. If that *could* be explained... I doubt upon a remeeting of each other she would act as Nodoka did... I would fear for Nerima...

These ideas are depressing me horribly.

Why don't YOU come up with some good ones then? Personally I'd like to see some Ranma/School Rumble crossovers.

I have worked on that FMP crossover idea.

You'll have to find a thread called "Reinforcements" and reply to it if you want more.

I don't know anything about that other series, so can't help you there.

If I come up with an idea worth posting, I'll post it.

There's a couple particularly funny School Rumble fics here on this thread.

Just a little niggling thought, not really a story idea in itself: Hiryu Shoten Ha and all its variations have a dragon theme to it, but it was taught to Ranma by Cologne. Given the Eastern setting of the manga, what if we go a little bit further with that and have some form of linkage with the Four Beasts (the Dragon, the Tiger, the Tortoise, and the Vermilion Bird)? Then I guess if anybody wanted to develop attacks the Joketsuzoku have, the theme for the attacks could be based on one of the other three animals.

On the other hand, having Ranma encounter one of the Four Beasts itself could be interesting.

The vermilion bird (Suzaku) is a phoenix. Hello, Saffron. And also the phoenix that hatched in a story from volume 29.

So that just leaves Genbu (the black tortoise), Seiryu (blue dragon), and Byakko (white tiger).

Although arguably Ranma himself could be construed as sort of the White Tiger of the series. I suppose you could link Herb with Seiryu, but he's really not around long enough to justify that, although he certainly is a dragon (or linked to them).

Funny enough that you mention it, fanon actually makes sense when they pit the Musk and Phoenix as being rivals: Chinese mythology I believe presents dragons and Phoenix as being either enemies or lovers.

If you take Herb as the Dragon and Saffron as the Phoenix, though, that could also be grounding for a couple of new tribes around wherever it is the three main tribes are based on the Tortoise and Tiger though either Lime or Mint share Tiger characteristics, can't remember who (does the manga actually say where the tribes are all located at? For some reason I want to say Kunlun Mountains in western China, but not sure where I would have found that out from).

Cat theme seems to pop up with amazons. Linking them to Tiger is a stretch, but not entirely unplausible.

The dragon and the tiger are definitely enemies, not lovers. Dragon and phoenix might be lovers; I'm not entirely certain of that.

Lime is the one with tiger blood; Mint has wolf, and Herb is of the royal line, who have dragon's blood.

As for where all the tribes are, Jusenkyou is in the Bayankala mountains in western China, specifically in the Qinghai province, iirc. I think the Hououzan-jin live nearest to it, and the Musk probably furthest away. By the way, it is fanon that the Musk and Joketsuzoku are mortal enemies; Cologne didn't even know the Musk still existed. They may have been enemies once, but they are not in the present nor any time recently. And there was no hint of hostility between Cologne and Herb.

No, not really. ndf was correct in saying Ranma would be a better representative of 'tiger' even though the link is still tenuous. Not just Neko-ken, but because he himself created Moko Takabisha, which translates to something like Fierce Tiger Domineering

Nabiki's love of money is well known, but why does she sabotage everyone else's attempts to get with Ranma so much?

Either a few years earlier before the series or at some point during the series, Ranma saves Nabiki from a date who's getting too grabby after spending a lot of money on her.

Though she tells her self she couldn't be interested in someone with such low earnings potential, she starts to ponder life with Ranma.

Maybe after seeing him win a contest of skill with some bizarre martial arts technique, she starts to consider ways to make some real money.

Of course, Nabiki might end up displaying what could be described as "yandere" like tendencies to anyone who gets in her way of making money.

For maximum cliche she doesn't realize that Ranma is actually her childhood first love until a few months after he reappears in her life, so they're entrenched in unhealthy antagonism.

So she tries to "reset" their relationship despite also being totally malfunctional, like she purposely doses herself with love potion, and she tries to flatter him, and it kinda works but it's also kind of off -- "Ranma! I am going to follow you around and take your picture and give you so much attention!"

Like that, shenanigans.
