Hmmm... I do not use them either. BUT, I wonder if it only shows on new posts, or shows if people are browsing them through search...

I know I myself use the search and occasionally poke through the site for oddball trivia or specific conversations. That would turn up old threads, but I generally do not post in them... but if it is tracking browsing activity, that could trigger a flag I suppose.

Someone going in and editing their old posts might be causing flags, since it would be new activity, but not really show as new content.

If it is flagging them for either of those, it might make sense, as even a lot of searching/editing might stick to the bigger main threads, rather than the obscure.

If someone was editing a post to remove the junk characters that came from the forum conversion, that could be causing them to be flagged for new activity.

I use it, but haven't seen anything unusual lately. Will try keeping a closer eye from now on.

Here, this may help illustrate (clickable):

'tis always the same threads, the ones at the bottom there. I can go into the thread and it'll clear it but they just seem to periodically pop back up again in a batch.

I can't find the "Thread Subscriptions With New Posts" in my user CP. Is this only present in the default theme? I'm using the fallback one and it only has "subscribed threads" as an option.

Perhaps this was some feature/functionality that got broken with some recent update? and now, it just shows ALL your subscribed threads?

Now, in the image you linked, I have a work-around. Do you see the little arrow next to the threads on top? That will take you to the last unread post (for you) in the thread. You could use that as an indicator to recognize new stuff in threads your subscribing to.

It's there when I just click User CP by itself. I am on default theme, so I've not the slightest if it's different for any others.

It only shows all of them periodically. I can go into the threads one by one and it will clear whatever new status the board thinks the thread has but eventually and periodically they will all show back up again.

I'm aware of go to last unread, it doesn't stop them from just reappearing every now and again and clogging up the list. It's apparent there's no new activity.

Alright, I'm stumped. Went back to the default theme and into userCP. This is what I see,

Does anyone know how he's getting that list he posted (with pic) earlier?

Yeah, I get that too. I rarely notice it very often though because I don't use the CP to find updated threads.

Something probably best for the Anime/Manga section as a subsection, but do you guys think it would be better to have a 'First Impressions' board exclusively for topics about people going through a show or manga for the first time and leaving their thoughts as they go through?

To give examples of my own topics, I'm talking about things like this:

http://thefanfictionforum.net/showthread.php?tid=19187

I say it would be best in the Anime/Manga section if only because any other board it could probably fit neatly into the Talk section without cluttering things up.

Well, I have to go to work right now (yes, poor seitora has to work Christmas day, 12 hours at that!), but I'll try to expand a little bit if anybody is confused when I have a chance next.

I think, if it's for anime, a 'First Impressions' thread would be good enough on its own. Just create one under Anime/Manga and it would work fine. I don't really think it needs a whole subsection for its own.

Of course, a subsection off the Main Index might be an interesting idea, because we could post for first impressions on things like games, movies, tv, etc. in addition to anime. If you're gonna make a subsection, go big or go home. :p

And I have to go to sleep right now. 4AM posting ftw.........................................................zzzz......

That sounds like the Manga Commentary Thread. I don't think there needs to be anything more than just a thread for something like this.

I can see advantages both ways.

Manga/Anime comment threads have the disadvantage that it is all mashed together. If I want to see my review ripping apart the dreadful TTGL series for example, it is way buried, likewise the newer Dog Days review.

Having a whole section would be annoying, but then a thread per series would be all that would ever be needed and could be better searched visually, rather than through the search function.

It's a nice idea, but the 'problem' would be maintaining it. At least, I would expect the first post to have a list to all the different impressions. As someone who's tried to maintain such a thing before, I can tell you that it's NOT easy. The other concern is how we would manage the related discussions/side-talk.

For now, I'm in favor of just starting a thread with the appropriate title and seeing how others contribute - depending on how it goes, we can consider upgrading it to a board.

Is it possible to make the main site work in a similar way as the mobile site when it comes to showing new posts in a sub-forum (such as Naruto Talk)?
The mobile site shows that when there are new posts in a sub forum, the sub forum is changed with a bold font.
But the main site does not have this feature, so it is a little harder to see (for me) if there are new posts or not in it, since last post only shows the latest commented thread and it's time/date, which I sometimes don't remember if I have checked or not.
Is it possible to have the sub forums turn bold when there are any new post, while browsing on the main site?
(I don't like using the 'View New Posts' or 'View Today's Posts' for some reason despite it being quite useful.:huh.: )
I am using the Light Default theme.

Can we increase the character count for signatures? I want to put more hyperlinks in but I'm up against the limit. I've also got formatting to distinguish it from my regular posts, and I'd like to go even further than that & put it in a different font or something.

I dig that it exists so people won't just spam threads with their sigs, but I don't think that's a problem here (honestly pics in sigs bug me more).

I'm upvoting this idea. But we need limits on pictures in signatures.

I have a bit of a problem with my signature; I removed the old text (which contained a hyperlink) and put in the new one. Unfortunately, the old link still exists, now in text form, and I can't remove it. Is there a way I can 'reset' my signature?

Thank you; it seems fine now.

(Shouldn't the forum have a 'clear signature' button, though? )

Removing everything in the signature then Updating it works for me.

Yeah, it just didn't work with my problem; the link stayed even when I deleted everything.

Either way, chronodekar fixed that, so talking about it may be redundant.

Twice now I've gotten the same message, when trying to post in the Anime/Manga News thread:

I don't know if the post content is too much, or if there's something wrong with my linking. When I tried to simply post the content title, rather than the whole url link, I got the same message.

Mods, any ideas?
