Martial Library Arts - all combat must be done silently and neatly. Books must be preserved so are not used as weaponry, but desks, chairs and shelves most certainly would be. I'm imagining combatants of this style must fight in utmost silence and make the best use of their environment to perform attacks from unexpected directions. Allowing the books under your charge to be damaged however is obviously grounds for if not loss, then certainly lasting shame.
Obviously, that is different from what a Martial Arts Librarian Arts...

Precision was an important factor as was order and quiet.

Thin and frail with piercing eyes that were able to both freeze noisy library visitors and decalcify their spines

"Martial arts librarianship is an extremely old art. For as long as there had been martial arts, there have been martial arts librarians. Storing the scrolls, copying scrolls, recording the important martial arts information of the day. The street plan for Nerima was of course, stored by an ancient martial arts librarian and as Nerima grew so did the Nerima Martial Arts Library and a martial arts librarian has been on retainer to the city for as long as Nerima has existed.
Edit, for those whom do not know, that was from chapter 9 of:

RANMA 'Changes' by gromittd - [Dld Date=08/09/2011] - [MD Word Cnt=71336] - [Dld Size=390kb] - [MD Rating=T] - [Status=Inactive] - [Dld File Cnt=12]
  • [Summary] Ranma discovered education, Akane played golf, Neolithic Martial Artist have attacked. What next?

  • [Author1 URL] https://www.fanfiction.net/u/560467/
Clearly this is a case of rival schools. A grudge match between rival Combat Librarian schools and as usual Ranma would be caught in the middle. :p

That... would be a odd but interesting one, even by Ranma standards.

Only time I can recall him running a Library in all of the fan fiction for Ranma I ever read though is the loop snippet thread on this forum, in the one MNGL snippet sub-storyline where he runs the Infinite Library. Gets visited by the monkey on occasion, so I suppose that could be considered rivalry.

To begin lets look at TVTropes list of Martial Arts and Crafts to remind ourselves of what already exists...
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MartialArtsAndCrafts (Ranma 1/2 is first under the anime subheading)

also remember that not every style is competitive

How about:
Martial Arts Hairstyling (actually includes the entire beautician repertoire)
Martial Arts Bicycling: most popular in race form
Martial Arts Roller Derby: self-explanatory
Martial Arts Painting: similar to Martial Arts Cookery in that there are many many substyles
Martial Arts Housekeeping: similar to Martial Arts Construction in that it is not necessarily a competitive sport.
Martial Arts Dance
Martial Arts insert non-contact sport here: incredibly varied (see the differences between Martial Arts Rhythmic Gymnastics and Martial Arts Badminton).
Martial Arts Bartending
Martial Arts Dentistry
Martial Arts Bureaucracy/Pencil Pushing
Martial Arts Gardening
Martial Arts Kiting: parasailing/hang-gliding meets kite fighting
Martial Arts Debate/Public Speaking: surprisingly non-contact. Competitors instead have to use force of presence and tricks to not only keep the audience paying attention to them. But to keep them on their side.

Martial Arts Woodworking/Sculpting

You have to use punches, kicks and chops to carve out a piece of art. only the most precise people can make something that's not a monstrosity

What if Nerima has Martial Arts Insurance Agents, who go around and attempt to beat up anybody who causes lots of property damage?

A quick risk-benefit analysis would likely dissuade most such agents from attempting to deal with Ryoga or the Amazons, and while Ranma himself has freely damaged whatever he needed to to suit his purposes, I don't recall many examples of him doing so in circumstances that would attract that specific type of attention, i.e. locally around town. Can anyone with a more recent recollection of the manga comment?

Ranma did a fair amount of damage to Furinkan High for no other reason than to prove he could, when he got his strength back at the end of the Moxibustion/HSH story.

I also remember that he destroyed a boat towards the end of the manga just by hitting the deck -- but that was without meaning to. Not really the sort of thing you want, I think.

Not much else comes to mind. My impression of Ranma is that he usually doesn't break much stuff unless he needs to. That impression may be worth very little though.

Here's a real weird one, and it crawled out of the hole where my suggestion that lead to Senpai came from: Martial Arts Honor, an entire School dedicated to rules lawyering the 'honor' code we see in Ranma. Can you imagine people's response to someone pointing out that Ranma doesn't owe Royga a fight? Or other potential events in that vain?

Hmmm... been done a few times over the years, in differing ways.

Both 'Family Honor' by Zorknot and a started AA thread called 'The Shadow Knows' by N F R come immediately to mind.

Also, 'To Tell a Hawk From a Handsaw' by N Reynolds and 'The Art of Justice' by Ms Spooky1 are both weird but pretty interesting.

There are a few more with variations of Ranma going on trips or meeting people that makes him redefine or take a good long hard look at how he treats others and how he is treated.
