Ranma ½ Ranma/Monster Musume crossover idea

A short while ago the existence of monster girls has been revealed to the world which, of course, had a huge impact… except for Nerima and some other places in Japan like Tomobiki or Azabu Juban, and a few other places where the inhabitants didn’t even bat an eye and most of them didn’t even pay attention to it, Ranma included. Sometime later the Cultural Exchange Between Species Bill was signed and monsters girls started to be a common sight and gained some acceptance among the populace.

The story starts with Ranma and Akane walking home from school and having a civil conversation without any shouting going on. Everything is fine until they hear some shouts and someone crying for help. Ranma immediately heads over to where the cries were coming from and sees a group of four twenty-something yakuza wannabes insulting and hitting a cowering person. He couldn’t get a good look at the person since they are completely surrounded but the voice is obviously female.

Not wasting another moment he acts and knocks the bastards out in five seconds flat. Making sure the thugs are out of commission he asks the young person if she’s alright and does a double take when he turns around and sees that the person is not completely human. (I haven’t decided yet what species she should be. There are a lot of interesting possibilities.)

Before Ranma can say anything the monster girl jumps him and hugs the life out of him while crying and thanking him for his help.

Unfortunately, Akane arrives at the same moment and sees Ranma hugging another girl. She shouts at him and tosses her book bag at him before running home in tears.

Ranma tries to run after her to explain everything but the monster girl won’t let go. Since Ranma is a sucker for crying girls he decides to try and comfort the person in his arms rather than run after Akane who’s probably too angry at the moment to listen to reason. Better let her calm down and then apologize to her afterwards.

A few minutes later she lets go of Ranma after having finally calmed down enough and explains what has happened. Apparently there are some people who don’t want to have freaks wandering around freely and these thugs apparently belong to this group.

Ranma tells the girl to call the police to take her aggressors away and is about to leave when the girls asks for his name.

He gives it to her and leaves.

“Ranma,” the girl sighs. “What a nice name… my hero.”

When Ranma gets home he’s subjected to the usual spiel of the fathers berating him for being unfaithful towards his fiancée and Akane giving him the cold shoulder and not let him explain. He just sighs and leaves the room as he doesn’t want to be part of another pointless argument.

Two days later everything’s forgotten and things are back to normal when there’s a knock on the door. Kasumi opens the door and sees a monster girl, the first one she actually sees in person, as well as a woman wearing a black suit and black glasses that scream ‘secret agent’ standing there and asking if Ranma Saotome was there.

A female voice asking for Ranma is a beacon for the Saotomes and Tendos who appear at once to see what’s going on. Ranma immediately recognizes the girl he has saved two days before and, unfortunately so does Akane.

The ‘secret agent’ is in fact a coordinator who places monster girls with good host families as a result of the cultural exchange program. Apparently, the young girl has not been treated well by her host family and ran away. Unfortunately, for her to stay in the human world she has to live with a host.

Ranma seeing where this is going immediately refuses but when the girls starts to cry he feels like a heel. The most surprising reaction came from his mom who immediately asked him to agree to take the girl in since this is another proof of his manliness since he was man enough to even attract non-human girls.

Of course, this doesn’t sit well with the Tendos and Genma. Akane absolutely refuses to let the girl stay and Soun agrees. Either Ranma gets rid of her or he isn’t welcome in the Tendo house anymore until he comes to his senses.

Nodoka puts her foot down and proposes that Ranma and the girl move in with her until the young girl returns home. Ranma doesn’t want to upset his mother and reluctantly agrees.

They leave for the Saotome home and that’s when the fun really starts.

I have a lot of ideas where this could go. First of all Ranma will still attend Furinkan and take the girl with him, which will attract a whole lot of problems of course, with the fiancées and their suitors. Later on I plan to add some more monster girls to the mix, but not all of them staying with Ranma .

Possibly interesting. We don't need to move one of the girls from Monster Musume to Ranma, just need another of that species. We know for more or less a fact that the centaur race likely wouldn't be caught in that situation. Can't be a slime like Suu because they aren't recognized as a monster species due to dereliction of responsibilities. Could be another spider girl, possibly of a different subspecies than Rachnae. Could also be a mermaid.

Of course, you could go an interesting route and have it be one of the more "mainstream accepted" monster girls. Like a Catgirl, or a Bunnygirl.

Not a catgirl. At least, not yet. With his phobia, I'm not sure if Ranma would be as willing to let her stay. And if you are going with a catgirl, go with an interesting sub-type, a young one so there still insecure and all, but a Jinko or Cheshire Cat would be interesting, the latter moreso.

Hmm...

For monster suggestions... Just going to list my preferred ones: Apophis, Kraken, Vampire, Ushi-Oni, Youko, Jorougumo, Yuki Onna, Nereid, and Wight.

For the first one, I'd go with a young Youko, Ushi-Oni/Jorougumo, or Yuki Onna.

Uh, no. Akane would need to be in a particularly unstable mood already to react like that.

If this is supposed to have been a relatively normal day, Akane is more likely to stalk up to the two of them and demand an explanation. If Ranma is unable to articulate one, Akane will look to the new girl to provide it.

Akane should have grown accustomed to strange girls appearing out of nowhere and attaching themselves to Ranma. More than likely, she'd try to defuse this situation and get rid of the new-comer before it's too late.

Hence, demanding an explanation; if she understands what's going on, that makes it easier to pry Ranma out of the situation as quickly as possible.

It's only if Ranma proves completely unhelpful in this task, and if he repeatedly jabs Akane weak-spots again, that Akane would hit him and then run away crying.

I'd argue that depending on how affectionately the monster is thanking her savior, it may put Akane over that edge.

I stopped at that point. 3 things come to mind.

1. for some reason, I am getting flashbacks to 'Deny Thy Mother' by Typhonis, which is actually a compliment, as I liked that story, all 4+ versions of it.

2. The people running that exchange should be fired if they thought this an improvement.

3. I'm also reminded of HyperPolice, not sure why though.

I know knowing about this series, so would not know how close or far in character it is.

@FinalMax: I don't plan on burdening Ranma with any monster girls from the manga. There are more than enough available, but the Girls from the manga will probably appear. I definitely plan to use the monster girl speciall squad for some action in Nerima.

@Fellgrave: yep, no catgirls for Ranma. For one, it's too obvious and unimaginative and one of my potential plot points is to have Shampoo become willingly a catgirl through the right mix of Jusenkyo water to have a Chance with Ranma. I could honestly see her do something stupid like that.

@Sunder the Gold: I see your Point, but look at how fast Akane loses it whenever Ranma gets glomped by Shampoo. Well, there's quite a bit of glomping going on in this scene

@PCHeintz72: 2. If you read the mnaga you can easily see that they don't have any common sense, or at least this is the case for Ms. Smith (link 1), the coordinator in charge of our poor hero, Kimihito Kurusu (link 2)

You should really read the manga. It's really entertaining, just ecchi enough not be over the top, and the first volume was n° 1 on the manga sales list in the USA for two weeks straight. If you like harem comedy stories you'll definitely love this one.

Man I thought this was a MGQ cross at first, still interesting though.

@Sunder: "Should have" is the key phrase here. I dislike Akane as a Love Interest though I can accept her as a secondary character as I know she has her good points. The thing here is that this is Ranma 1/2 where rules and character growth tend to be ignored if it gets in the way of lolz. Akane's ability to reason tends to vary chapter to chapter, sometimes she willing to even give him a chance to explain even when pissed (though it tends to fail), other times it she actually saw the whole thing play out and still get pissed. Hell Takahashi even flatout stated in series that she has a selective view of reality in the Hinako chapter where Ranma actually got to state his case in a way that shouldn't cause misunderstandings except she only heard a single phrase (not even the complete sentence) right in the middle and tuned the rest out.

For Monster Girls:
Crabgirl whom like the one from MGQ is obsessed with cleaning things
Alraune girl who is kinda creepy obsessed with him.
Doll Girl who's a Hikkikomori
Moe Succubus who fails whenever trying to be sexy
Dullahan who acts like a dirty old man

oh I commented on this idea in the miscellaneous thread.

...here's the post
I have a few ideas to add to this.

I. Principal Kuno is the Cultural Exchange Coordinator for Furinkan
A. He is the one who signed Ranma up
II. Nodoka signed Ranma up without telling anybody.
A. Takes place at new Saotome apartment/house,
III. At least one extra-species (preferably a girl) in the story knows Ranma from previous encounter.
A. Positive feelings.
1. Mutual-ish
2. One-sided
a. Ranma doesn’t remember her
b. Ranma does remember her but doesn’t like her
B. Negative feelings
1. Mutual-ish
a. Mistook her for Musk/Phoenix member.
2. One-sided
a. As above but he apologized and promptly forgave himself.
b. Doesn’t remember her at all.
