|PROLOGUE|-|TO|-|SADNESS|

That place was odd.

To her, at least. Well, maybe to the others, but when had it last been that she had met any of the others? They hadnÆt had anything worth discussing sinceà well, since that event. She didnÆt like thinking about it û it made her feel regretful. She didnÆt like feeling regretful. It made her feel like she had done something wrong, and, well, she hadnÆt done anything wrong regarding them. They were abominations. They had to be destroyed.

But still, why had the Eldest been so angry at the fact that some humans had attempted to contact their servants? It wasnÆt as if they could have done anything; after all, mere humans couldnÆt just walk up to any of them and say æHey, now I command you, okay?Æ, with the hope of them obeying. In fact, no human could actually walk to them; their lairs were well-hid, and in places that only they, and no others, could reach.

HadnÆt stopped them from trying, but none had prevailed yet.

She went down the path, trying not to pay attention to the background. Her acquaintance sure was odd, on her tastesà but what was she to expect? And hadnÆt she actually made her own realm a place completely unlike what one would expect, filling it with all sorts of milk?

She gulped, as she noticed a ticking candle staring back at her, two eyes blinking in the flame. The tip of the flame made some odd design, but she didnÆt understand it, blinking back.

Then the candle gave up and hopped away, before falling into a sea of gasoline and turning into cheese. The visitor just stared at the floating cheese that was beginning to freeze, before shaking her head and heading on.

At the center of an oddly-shaped tower which would remind one of what they looked like backwards, she found her host sipping some sort of tea, which was flowing from the scythe on her back. She raised an eyebrow.

ôWhat is that? I didnÆt think it existed yet.ö The other female gave a hearty laugh.

ôOh, this? DonÆt worry, some human will find out how to make these in a couple of centuries. Of course, my brand is a lot better than any of theirsà nothing like eternity to let age become perfection.ö Her tone was nice, however the other knew more than anyone that it was quite a faþadeà one which was very rarely broken, but which was there for a reason.

ôIà believe I understand. But I am unsure if you should continue this. It willàö she began, but was stopped by a scoff.

ôWhat, it will summon something far more dangerous than me? IÆd like to see time try to mess with me,ö she told her, as if the very own idea of something being more dangerous than her was ridiculousà which, she had to admit, was. ôBut come onà you never come here to tell me I should be changing my diet. In fact, you never come here, period. Mind explaining me the reasons why you came? I already told you all about your soulmate, even if heÆll take a while to even be thought of.ö

She sighed, sadly. ôYou are right. I have a reason for coming hereà IÆm here to talk about their spawn.ö

Her host scoffed. ôWhatÆs there to talk about? TheyÆre dead, weÆre not. And they were already punished themselves, so you shouldnÆt worry at all about them.ö However, she wasnÆt willing to let the matter drop yet.

ôYou took care of themà but youÆve refused to talk about them ever since. The last of us to hear about them was the Eldest, and he went off to personally destroy a civilization on the west.ö

She laughed. ôYeah, I remember that. Was a nice dayà but I donÆt get what you would be getting at.ö

Her eyes became sharp. ôOnly one thing, so far, has caused him to grow this enraged. You know something. Something happened to them, didnÆt it?ö

The elder smirked. ôSo, you think you have uncovered a conspiracy? Well, guess what, missy: what IÆll tell you wonÆt be worth any for you, because itÆs completely useless. And I guarantee thatà otherwise, the Eldest wouldnÆt be getting a heartburn due to them.ö Her tone was beginning to be filled with venom, which was reflected in her eyes.

She flinched. ôWhat do you mean? What happened to the hellspawn?ö

ôStill with that name? IÆll let you know IÆm insulted,ö she said in a playful tone, still venomous, however. ôBut, since you wanted to know so much, IÆm telling you. They returned, thatÆs what happened.ö

She gasped, and took a step back. ôW-what?! Butà but we didnÆt feel their energies or anythingàö

ôYeah, yeah, this is nearly impossible, I know. But they are æhellspawnÆ, as you called them. Surviving me was possible.ö

ôSurviving youà you donÆt mean-ö she didnÆt finish the thought, as the second û and darker û meaning was understandable.

ôYes, I do. They were dead, true, but they werenÆt consumedà and returned. Not all, though, but the ones who did grow old enough to become mature were a threat to usà powerless, true, but still a threatà and so, they were killed. Again. Funny, huh?ö

She gulped, although she felt a bit calmer now. ôSoà we wonÆt have to worry about them anymore, right?ö

A nod was what she expected; a shaken head, not. ôNope. Some more are going to revive soon, if IÆm right. And then, later, some of the dead will revive. And so on and onà stuck into a vicious circleà unable to find eternal peaceà doesnÆt this sound delightful, to your ears?ö she asked, smiling wickedly.

That was more than enough for her, however. ôSoà the hellspawn will keep on torturing us for the rest of our lives?ö she asked, already preparing to retreat.

She nodded. ôYesà by the way, I blame you all.ö

She blinked. ôUs? Why?ö

ôWell, dear, itÆs simple. Had you all not killed them in such a berserk manner û I liked it, true, but still, itÆs the principle that matters û you wouldnÆt have to worry about them surviving me. And thus, their cycle shall continueàö she said, in that dreamy tone of hers. She gazed the roof for a moment, watching a dragon made of toilets face against a large hunk of steel, before looking down again, seeing her guest begin to leave. ôAwwà is the little pink kitty scared of the truth?ö

She turned around one last time, before shaking her head. ôNoà I am scared of these hellspawn, not of your stories, no matter how true they are.ö

The host smirked. ôThese hellspawn, as you call them, arenÆt as ill-willed as you believeà they are quite fine, for such beings. No, I prefer to ignore their name for now, for you will only fill it with lies.ö

She sighed, before warping back to her own realm, leaving the other alone. ôPityà I was even going to tell her that there was a way of breaking this circle. Then again, why should I?ö she thought, amusedly, while holding a large skull. Her eyes sparked for a moment, and the skull began to crush itself. ôAfter allà she is going to take what I wanted for myself, at least at first. But I wonÆt let herà they are too differentà and so, we shall reign togetherà in my realm of deathàö

ôTee hee heeà I can barely waità for when I finally claim my rightful prizeàö

I have absolutely no clue what series this takes place in, nor do I have even the most remote clue about what's going on with all this.

Care to enlighten?

edit: Fuck. Read the date wrong. Need to stop posting at 3:00AM.

 You do that... if you can! Posting at three in the morning becomes addictive...

By the way what's this story about?

Good question. Heck, like toraneko, I'm not even sure about the fandom either.

So this is a prologue to the game Sadness? That's pretty ambitious, since there's still over a year until the game's release, and only a scant few details have been revealed.

Wow, that game looks frickin' amazing, I can't even tell if it was real people or very good animation in that preview video they had, it looks very interesting, but just as mysterious, now I'm interested.
