Request For Some Help With Anime Adventure

OK after someone mentioned it or linked to it in an old Sailor Moon thread I got to reading Coupled Union - Tick Tock (Link: http://addventure.bast-enterprises.de/frecent.php?tag=Coupled+Union+-+Tick+Tock ) An interesting fic where when Ranam shows up to the Tendo's at age 18 he's already married to Setsuna Meioh aka Sailor Pluto.

So after reading that I went looking at the other Coupled Union fics and found this one: Coupled Union - Wild Endurance (Link: http://addventure.bast-enterprises.de/frecent.php?tag=Coupled+Union+-+Wild+Endurance ) Half the problem is that the other is a crossover whore, putting is as many crossover's as possible so unless you've read everything he seems to be using you're likely in for an interesting time. But that's not the worst of it. He seems to have based the thing off a previous story (Or possibly stories given how much back-story there seems to be) but the thing branches off of the Coupled Union root, meaning I can't figure out exactly what to read before this.

I think I've tracked down the preceding story The Doctor Is In (Link: http://addventure.bast-enterprises.de/frecent.php?tag=The+Doctor+Is+In ) but it seems to branch alot, so if anyone knows what I should read before this can they please let me know

There are a couple different approaches you can take. Which is one of the reasons people do not like the format of most Addventure sites.

I use main thead views, and read each episode in numerical order, nott the order it came out. This has the effect of reading all thread spin offs simultaneously. But not everyone likes that view.

An alternative is to go to the last episode of the thread you want to view. At the bottom will be 'view episode chain'. Select that. Do *NOT* hit last 5 or last 10. type in 10000 in the 'you tell me' and hit go. You should be presented with the entire story up to the episode you were in, as no story in the entire adventure is near 10000 episodes.

That approach has its own issues, as sometimes there are restart points, and whatnot, so the begin episodes may not have any connection to what you want to read. but you can search in it for 'coupled union, and read from that point forward.

you can play with the number entered and get the entire story in one viewable and downloadable file this way. And it will work for any thread reading.

Go to the beginning episode and view the episode tree. Find the branches that extend decently far and open their endings in new tabs, then view their individual episode chains (hit the full chain option and you go back to the very first post on AA, Positively sloppy works if they're all similar like if a story call Ranma's day turns into Ranma's Day: Whatevers but not if it becomes Setsuna's wonderful life.)

Sorry for the really late update on this situation, but I managed to track the source down. The author is know on FFn asPyeknu aka Fred Herriot and the Wild Endurance story branch is based off of his Phoenix From The Ashes, and well you can read the full back story here: http://jusenkyo.wikia.com/wiki/Phoenix_from_the_Ashes , but the story's background ultimately goes back to one of the chapters in Greg 'Metroanime' Sharp's The Bet (Which I DO recommend you track down and read if you have the time, please note that The Bet itself is like 30 previews of fics, and while some got continuations none to my knoweldge where ever finished)

As to Phoenix From the Ashes, I don't recommend it. Among other things the universe he created with it includes both Harry Potter and Negima, and he hasn't worked out a 100% interaction between the two universes. And that doesn't include the story that cross those two plus Buffy and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Did I mention the bit where he managed to gut all of Negima's plot because from what I believe is him misunderstanding a single one paragraph or two infodump?

I thought you were asking strictly on navigating AA, not the history of the author and his universe...

If counting all of 'The Bet', it was way more than 30...

Counts vary from site to site, and I'm not sure any one site as it all anymore since it has been 15+ years... but by my own counts The original 'The Bet' was more like 49+ stories, and a 2nd wave you can call 'The Bet After', was another 21+ stories... Even had its own fan art of a smiling cat...

The real numbers are actually higher than I gave because of the way I count them.

Another thing... while not technically part of The Bet. Metroanime eventually made a couple stories that were placed on FanFiction.NET and MediaMiner.ORG that were *like* the bet, and used its setting... one was called 'A FistFul of Omake', and note they were *not* the same between the two versions...

Finally, other authors eventually went on to do something *like* the Bet, even to copying the setup, or even calling their stories 'offshoots' of it. One reasonably good explanation and a cobbled together timeline was put together at this link:
