This is in response to Windfalcon's songfic challenge. For those who can't figure it out, the song being filked here is "Hakuna Matata," from The Lion King. It seemed appropriate to answer the challenge with another Disney song. Enjoy!

Gaara watched, heartbroken, as the other children ran from the playground as soon as they saw him. In his seven years of life, no one had ever wanted to have anything to do with him; they always treated him with fear or hatred no matter what he did. Sitting down on the now empty swings, he couldnÆt help but feel his eyes starting to tear up.
So intent was he on his misery, that Gaara didnÆt even notice Temari and Kankuro walk up to him. ôGaara, what are you doing here?ö asked Temari with a frown, ôYashamaru was looking for you.ö
Rubbing his eyes, Gaara looked up at his siblings. ôTemari. Kankuro.ö He looked back down for a minute, before managing to ask. ôI want to play with the other kids, but they always run away when I try.ö His eyes starting to water again, he looked back up at the other two, desperate for answers. ôWhy does everyone hate me so much?ö
Kankuro couldnÆt help but roll his eyes. ôIsnÆt that obvious? ItÆs because of the Bijuu, Shukaku. YouÆre the Jinchuuriki for it, so people are scared of you.ö
ôTheàBijuu Shukaku?ö Gaara tilted his head a bit. ôWhatÆs that?ö
Both siblings looked surprised at the question. HadnÆt anyone told him? Sighing, the two kneeled down so they were eye-level with their younger brother and started to explain.
Temari
The Bijuu Shukaku
Is a monster of sand
Kankuro
The Bijuu Shukaku
Is really strong, and

It means you can slaughter

The Bijuu Shukaku
Blinking, Gaara tried to digest the information theyÆd told him. ôThe Bijuu Shukaku?ö
Kankuro nodded. ôIt was sealed in your soul after you were born.ö
ôBut, why?ö
Temari shrugged. ôFather wanted a powerful weapon for the village. You can use its incredible chakra, so you can kill pretty much anyone you want. Even most jounins wonÆt have that much power. Take Kankuro here, for exampleàö

He found out that although he had a strong will
There were ninjas his puppets werenÆt able to kill
Kankuro
IÆm a war puppeteer and I use Karasu
But sometimes his weapons just wouldnÆt make do
Kankuro
And I'd fall short of my goal
Temari
Short of his goal!
Kankuro
Without a monster in my soul
Temari
With an empty soul!

Temari slapped her hand over KankuroÆs mouth before he could finish his verse. ôKankuro! You donÆt need to phrase it like that!ö
The other ninja flushed underneath his face paint. ôSorry.ö

Temari and Kankuro each take one of GaaraÆs hands and lead him away from the empty playground. Miles later, theyÆre at the border of the Sand Country, and stealthily look at some foreign ninjas patrolling their side of the border.
Gaara gulped nervously, ôSo, weÆre going to scare off these enemy ninjas?ö
Temari shook her head. ôNot æscare offÆ.ö
ôKnock out?ö
ôNope.
ôCapture?ö
ôUh-uh.ö
Temari shook her head. ôYouÆre going to be a sand ninja, so you need to act like it. This is as good a time as any to learn.ö
With no further preamble, Temari leapt out towards the group of ninjas, swinging her fan as she did so. The leader of the patrol didnÆt even have a chance to cry out before TemariÆs slashing winds cut him in half at the waist.
The other two members of the patrol gaped at their leaderÆs sudden demise, and before they could rush at Temari, Karasu flew forward, its razor-hands slashing out the throat of another one of them. From his spot in a tree, Kankuro chuckled. ôThe work is bloody, but satisfying. Give it a try, Gaara.ö
Swallowing nervously, Gaara turned his attention to the last enemy ninja, who by now had started to run, desperate to escape. Slowly, Gaara put his hand out, and a large amount of sand from his countryÆs side of the border flowed over, encasing the fleeing ninja. Glancing one more time at his siblings, Gaara clenched his hand into a fist, and with a scream, the captured ninja was crushed. Blood flew everywhere, soaking Gaara in a crimson spray.
Temari smiled at the shocked-looking boy. ôWell? How was that?ö
Slowly, Gaara smiled. ôBloodyàbut satisfying.ö
Temari and Kankuro glanced at each other, grinning.
The three walked back to their village, smiling and swaying as they sang. Slowly, the scene changes and all three siblings, looking a little older, walk towards Konoha for the Chuunin exams.
