I don't think PMMM is there either - I don't see Homora's bazooka.

I was looking for Madoka's bow or Homura's shield, but given that both Madoka and Homura have ascended to godhood (or devilhood in Homura's case), it makes sense that their weapons are not there.

Whenever I see those costumes rendered in a more realistic artstyle like that I'm always struck by how horribly impractical they are. It doesn't pop up with the more cartoony style they're usually depicted in, but seeing them like that really drives home how much they need the enhanced durability/forcefield/plot armor that they have, cause damn the vulnerable targets on that design. Again though, that only really pops up when I see them depicted in a realistic style.

There was once a very long discussion thread on anifics forum several versions back about that very topic...

For all intents and purposes, when you compare them to a semi-standard seifuku, or heck, even compared to the 'normal' ones worn by the senshi when they actually are going to school, the combat outfits come out as some form of fetish gear variant for being that short and skimpy.

Don't believe me? Take two full length animated images of Usagi side by side (not fan art, but actual stills), one in each outfit, and you will see.

Do note that the uniform does change mid series from Middle school/Jr. High. to High school. but the effect is basically the same.

EDIT: thinking on it, in some cases, they are worse than the ones in ikkitousan, and those were specifically meant for fan service and to be destroyed in battles.

OT, but did anyone ever pick up the North American license to the IkkiTousen manga? Tokyopop released up to ... volume 13, I think, before they went under. I wanted to finish the series.

Old image, but still snazzy.
You know, the transparent skirts might be canon, I went at looked at the manga, and the first time Usagi transforms the skirt is shaded darker at the top, lighter at the bottom. Plus it makes them look a bit less like fetish gear AND explains why the girls don't seem to concerned about giving people up skirt shots

Sailor Moon crossed over with Game of Thrones and way too many magical girl works to list.
CRose's (Who's a member here) Princess of the Moon skirts on the border of this. Ranma is one of the Senshi (Sol) and princess and there's hints that she'll also gain Devil Hunter Yoko's powers

Rome's naval dominance is broken! Barbaric Vandals now threaten her seas. The Legion must call forth a new weapon against the marauders.
Known as Sailor Priestesses, the daughters of Rome wield awesome powers of the Pantheon Gods to vanquish their enemies.
They will lead the Legion to victory, reclaim Rome's glory, and restore her as the supreme sea power of the Mediterranean

Will the Sailor Priestesses take up some of their patron deity's personal traits? The most obvious being Venus' affair with Mars and Jupiter's affair with just about everybody.
