SB banned me; I'm looking for a new forum...

Wait, I deleted that picture less than an hour after I posted it, realizing some people couldn't take a joke. Why was I banned nearly half a week later, after I deleted the picture?
According to this thread, the answer would be because the mods are fascist and overly tyrannical.
Normally I would disagree with this notion, but considering both times I was banned it was because of an overreaction, I am starting to agree. My first ban? It was because of a reference to Cupcakes. No description, no link, I just mentioned the fic and was hit with the banhammer. A two-week ban. That's overkill, and when the two weeks were up and I PM'ed the mod asking why I was hit with a disproportionate punishment, he didn't even have the decency to reply.
Similarly I've just been banned because a moderator was insulted by my homelife. Sorry, wut? I mean sure I also admitted theft and my sister and I mutually trying to kill each other but we got over it!

Some people just can't ask to stop talking about it nicely.
You sounded crazy and were creeping people out, and they may have thought you were trolling. Really not the same thing (though I'd've been more inclined to tell you to shut up, your ban wasn't as unjustified as some others here).
 Ya probably right about that. Though the reason I piped up about all that was because the rest of the forum was being creepy to me asking about Hiver's little sister. Like suddenly a few of 'em were really FOCUSED on learning more about her. So ya I threw the topic even further off with remarks about my own family cause honestly, while my family is screwed up I think its creepier to ask a bunch of questions about a guy's little sister.

Besides some of the others on the forum asked questions about my family, I've got nothing to hide so I answered them. Bluntly.

Space Battles, to me, seems to have a bunch of whimps.

Dunno guess I'm used to the almost free-reign of TFF where we police ourselves like civilized folk.

...pffft bWUAHAHAHAHAHA! please lets not kid ourselves here, you all know I did that just to get a rise out of people there. Hell I did it enough to Lord Raine. But seriously, a simple "shut the hell up" from a moderator would have silenced me. Man, those Space Battles mods are ban-happy.

They most certainly are. I got a warning from a mod about "spamming" behavior, and when I asked the mod about it he admitted he hadn't paid any attention at all. Someone hit the "report" button and he hit me with an infraction without even checking to see if the complaint was at all accurate. Sure the mod "apologized" when I asked him to clarify and explained why my post wasn't spam, but he didn't bother to remove the infraction point, so it doesn't count.

I'm not sure that they can remove infraction points. Generally, they're mostly lazy, as well as being assholes.

Mind you, some do at least try to do their jobs, but what they think their jobs are varies wildly.

Well when ya put it that way I suppose they do TRY at least. Still think they need to learn from Yoda though.

I can deal with the lazy mods. I can even deal with the self righteous mods. They are easy enough to deal if you know what you're doing..

What really pisses me off are the mods that think that being a mod means that they are above the rules and automatically better than everyone else.

Sadly, they have those, too.

Wasn't the big move supposed to help ELIMINATE server lag? Because it's just as bad as it was before the server move.

The SB switch to Xenforo software was supposed to help alleviate lag, and it did for a time. Problem is, the rate/volume of posting is doubling every eight months or so, so the server hardware simply cannot keep up

It's mostly the BRoB ruining it for everyone else. That and the uberfic threads populated by me-too muppets.

I spent five hours today trying to get an update to post. And when it finally did, it ate all the spacing and paragraphs in it. Now it won't let me delete the fucking wall of text.

Is it just me, or did they make it so new users have to post? Because I can get places when I'm singed out, but I can't go anywhere when I'm signed in.

Yes, new users have to post to get access were as guests can just view all as per usual. I believe this is in response to a surge of bots that began spamming Spacebattles News.

Hello, thar, Animesuki mods!

So got Banned AGAIN on SB, I swear ONE person brings up the phrase "it'll be biblical" and someone else mentions moses and I'm not even the one to bring it up but OH GAWD its horrible of me to point out how the plague that killed all the first born was really more akin to a child throwing a temper tantrum for not getting his way and killing thousands of innocent children...

Cause you know, that's fucking biblical. -_-

Somebody has to be the mature one, and it's not going to be the theists. Thus, the atheists are expected to be.

And ironically, us atheists are instinctively less trusted than theists. It's why I don't go around proclaiming my status. Most theists are incredibly judgemental. For instance, I have an LDS friend who, after I mentioned I was considering getting a glass of sake to go with my meal at a Japanese restaurant, said, in these exact words, that "I didn't take you for a drunk." Really? A glass of wine to go with an expensive meal is considered getting drunk? or my brother and his wife are unable to go to a karaoke bar, because even though they don't care for alcohol AT ALL, the members of the church they go to would consider it "setting a bad example", even though both of them are in their late 20's and just want to sing.

I have several people I know from a church I used to regularly attend. I occasionally hang out with them. But I have NEVER mentioned that I am an atheist to them, because I fear they will refuse to associate with me any longer. A close friend of mine told me that when he told his mom that he was an atheist, she literally broke down crying. I'm surprised she didn't kick him out of the house right there.

Well, if she sincerely believes that atheists inevitably go to hell (which is something a lot of theists take very seriously), her breaking down crying makes sense, and so does her not kicking him out of the house - she hopes he'll change back from exposure, and/or wants what time with him she can get.

In the interest of disclosure, I'm mostly agnostic, leaning towards atheism (though there are some theists who would say that I'm not even agnostic, since my concept of 'gods' falls under 'things that we should eventually understand scientifically, if they exist').

I shouldn't get involved in this. I really shouldn't. But I can't help myself.

I'm agnostic. Also, hailing from an overwhelmingly christian country, I have plenty of experiences with how judgmental, insecure and immature religious people can be.

But you know, I've seen plenty of atheists trying to match the arrogant douchebaggery religious fanatics tend to have, and succeeding. Do you even realize how self-righteous, how offensive the quote above sounds, even for those who are willing to live and let in this matter?

I think there's also the 'hate the sin(and it could be viewed as a sin), love the sinner' idea that far too many people preach and don't practice.

Yes, actually, I do. It doesn't change the fact that on SB.com, you can be banned very fast for trolling the theists (or even doing something that was not intended to be trolling, but is taken that way), but theists have to be generally have to be worse, to get banned for trolling the atheists. The atheists are expected to be the mature ones, and the theists are not.

EDIT: I probably shouldn't have replied to this, as I doubt either of this really want this argument.

I tend to find atheists to he just as douche'y as theists. In fact it's almost like looking into a bizarro mirror most of the time when you compare their douche'ness.

For me, I'm not anything I'm just apathetic.

My issue here isn't so much 'who is the biggest jerk' as 'who gets banned fastest on SB.com', as that's what's on-topic for this thread.

You're right none of us want to argue over this. I'll just say I think the problem here was either mod bias(no matter what board I go, it's a constant mods are way more tolerant of people who have similar viewpoints to theirs), or preventive ass-covering(more likely IMO).

I'd go with 'both, depending on which mod,' personally.
