Serious fem!Sasuke Stories

There are a lot of fem!Sasuke stories (which for this challenge, means stories where Sasuke was a girl all along, not where he is turned int/turns himself into a girl), but they tend to either be played for laughs, not very good, or both.

So, the challenge is to write a reasonably serious fem!Sasuke fic, fitting the above definition. It could still have comedic moments (such as Naruto's relief that his first kiss really was a girl, or Sakura's attempts to use Naruto, the inventor of the Oiroke no jutsu, to prove that she's straight), but the overall tone should be fairly serious.

As an example, you could combine it with the ideas in 'The Punishment: Slavery/Slaves of the Maelstrom', with the ANBU discovering that the newly captured Sasuke is, well, not male. That's only one option, though.

Actually, I've contemplated making Sasuke female in my story, Scales of the Leaf.

I'm still on the fence about it.

My mind keeps traveling to the possibility that Itachi's mind raping gave her a gender identity crisis and the villiage went along with it to prevent the girl from totally losing her mind. Perhaps move the clan killing up to before sasuke starts ninja training so none of the students would know. I just keep skinning ove rin my head if there are any points in cannon sasuke is seen not fully clothed pre time skip, I mean the chunin exam is a possible time that the discovery could start to come out or perhaps after the second mind rape from itachicauses his self made to unravel...

Or you could make it show up soon after graduation allowing time for fem!sasuke to slowly accept her natural gender. Which would be a kicking and screaming process after 6-8 years of a solid male idenity. as long as it wasn't a cop out like "Wow I feel so much more cofortable with one week as a girl lets go buy dresses!" kind of thing...

In my story, the way I've thought about doing it...

Sasuke has always been female, and she knows she's female. She's also always been something of a tomboy, so when people at school automatically thought she was a boy(partially thanks to the name her stubborn ass father chose while she was still in the womb), she didn't bother to disabuse them of the notion, even going so far as to play up the act.

After the Massacre, she became fixated on destroying Itachi, and resolved to play the part of the boy as long as she could, since kunoichi seemed to be treated differently - coddled more, they weren't taught the more difficult things readily.

And, as far it goes, she was successful. Sarutobi, Itatchi, and some random personnel at the hospital do know she's a girl, but nobody in school, not even Iruka, realizes she is.

Until Naruto shows up on the first day of their last year. Sasuke, like canon, is obsessed with growing stronger. Here's a kid that has been apprentice to the Hokage for the last x years - a worthy challenge.

More than a challenge, unfortunately, as Naruto would beat the snot out of her. Maybe he wouldn't even have to do anything: Hakari could beat down Sasuke by herself.

Anyway, at some point during their spar/attempt to murder each other, Naruto or Hakari would use a fire jutsu and Sasuke, caught by surprise, would lose her top.

Which, of course, would reveal that Sasuke-kun is actually Sasuke-chan(who has begun to develop just enough to show her true gender) and red faced, she would have to kick Naruto at least twice when he collapsed to the ground in laughter(whether or not Naruto actually won the fight would be a point to argue over for them for a long time).

Sasuke-chan(her real name is Sasuke, not Sasuko or anything else) does NOT like Naruto. In fact, she rather dislikes him for blowing apart her deception. Plus, the fact he's so much stronger than her adds to that resentment.

Not that Sasuke-chan won't ever develop feelings for Naruto, but it wouldn't be quick or without murder attempts.

Now I see Sasuke betraying the leaf and joining Orochimaru for an entirely different reason.

"I can't believe you're a girl," Naruto said to a tied up Sasuke as he walked alongside Kakashi, who seemed to be glancing over at Sasuke every few minutes before bursting out into giggles, and Sakura, who was glancing over at Sasuke every few minutes with a betrayed and confused look before shaking her head quickly.

"..." Sasuke replied.

"I mean why would you hide you're a girl I just don't get it, I mean one of your goals is to rebuild your clan how you gonna do that if you don't get pregnant yourself, also you had other girls chasing after you instead of guys," Naruto continued.

"That was the point, I'm a lesbian," Sasuke finally spoke up causing Kakashi to go crosseyed before he started giggling worse then ever. Sakura's head snapped around so fast she probably gave herself whiplash.

Sakura opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out and her already flushed face went crimson, she opened her mouth again and once again closed it with nothing coming out. Giving up she just stomped off ahead of the group.

"I think maybe you angered Sakura-chan," Naruto laughed.

"Yes well, now I get a better view," Sasuke said as she cocked her to oneside and stared lecherously at Sakura's backside.

Naruto stared at Sakura for a moment himself before coming to the conclusion, 'You know her ass really isn't all that nice,' "Wait if you like girls why didn't you ever go out with any, you had practically the entire village's female population willing to do whatever you wanted,"

"I know, it was so tempting. To keep myself from losing control I had to stay calm and keep them as far from me as possible. So I over played the angst so I could push the girls away without gaining to much suspision," Sasuke said.

"That was all an act, no way," Naruto shouted.

"Of course it wasn't all an act, my brother really did murder my clan," Sasuke spat, "And my main goal still is to kill him, and I really am the best Ninja, or will be soon, to ever come from the Leaf."

"Still a bastard then," Naruto deadpanned.

Sasuke glared at Naruto, "I also still have my second goal to rebuild my clan, unfortunatly since I'm a woman I will be put up for at least a year if I got started on that, a year in which my skills would weaken and Itachi's would get better, That's why I joined with Orochimaru."

"To get stronger quicker so you could then rebuild your clan?" Naruto asked.

"Er not exactly, While getting stronger was definetly one of my goals, I knew I wouldn't get strong enough under Orochimaru who is weaker then my brother to defeat my brother."

"Then why the hell did you betray us to go with him?" Naruto questioned.

"Well, ... I was kinda hoping that with all his experimentation on humans he would have found a way to change someone's gender," Sasuke said.

Kakashi's eyes widened before he started laughing so hard he had trouble breathing, Sakura stopped in her track's and turned around to look at Sasuke hopefully.

"Any luck?" Naruto asked.

"Nope, the only method he had would have given me the shell of a man, but i'd be sterile, which kinda of negates the whole doing it to rebuild the clan thing."

Sakura who had been listening in had her head droop down in disappointment at the news.

You could have added something about the Oiroke no Jutsu working as a temporary sex change, just to make it so Sasuke could have been working on rebuilding her clan, had she never left.

There is no Naruto Shippuden. There is no way that someone with Naruto's stamina, learning curve and KB cheatery cannot learn anything in 2.5 years.

Because a good portion of Fosfor's stories take place in PTS. Without acknowleding its existence Fosfor wouldn't have written them.

How many times has Kyuubi been WTFPWNed by the Sharingan?

I could see a serious fem!Sasuke working. The nine month layoff, closer to a year really with recovery time, for each kid would be anathema to Sasuke's personality and ambition. Hiding her gender while she hunted Itachi would almost make sense. It would make it easier for her to prepare to fight Itachi AND help her maintain an emotional distance form any potential suitors until Itachi was dead.

Pity emotional distance doesn't exactly work well around someone like Naruto. Well unless you're apparently a white-haired pervert in your 20's to 50's. Jiraiya and Kakashi managed it just fine.

Anyway a lot of the mounting tension between Naruto and Sasuke could be Sasuke fighting her mounting attraction to the dobe. She doesn't want to get attached like that to someone on any level, not even friendship really, but Naruto is too damned likeable and loyal to keep at a distance.

As for a comedic angle, well maybe Itachi has no intention of bringing Naruto to the Akatsuki. Maybe he's just being a good big brother and putting Sasuke's new 'boyfriend' through the ringer to test if he's worth of Itachi's little sister.
