Seth McFarlane producing a new sci-fi series for Fox

Fox has ordered a 13 episode season so far, set to debut next year.

Sort of a comedic take on Star Trek, it seems, it will 'tell the story of the Orville, a not-so-top-of-the-line exploratory ship in Earth’s interstellar fleet.'

It will either tank immediately and obviously in the first episode or will be entertaining for a couple seasons before recycling family guy.

A sci-fi show on fox? This can only do incredibly well! I can't wait for them to move into the friday night death slot, where it will surely succeed and disprove all those highly paid people who think that's a good way to kill a show.

Though in all honesty, if this is like most of Seth MacFarlane's shows, I wouldn't mind a swift death for it. I'll try to keep an open mind and read the initial reviews, but I'm not expecting much beyond more family guy.
