He touches the picture and finds himself on a dock.

Thats right, Shinji on Myst Island. And he has to go through the events of Riven to get home. Assuming he does, what would the ramifications of these events on the timeline of Evangelion.

Heh... my first thoughts on reading the title were either a cross with Mysterious Play aka Fushigi Yugi, or a cross with The Neverending story.

This... no.

Hmmm... Either of the above might not be so bad, either Rei or Asuka learning of it, and not telling, knowing noone would believe. Rei might be the more interesting, but either or both would work nice, Rei learning of her own humanity through watching Shinji, Asuka learning and being unable to hide her feelings from Rei as they watch, maybe bonding with each other in the process.

Edit: Although one of the Children finding it during the series could be good, if only because of the absolute panic it would send NERV and SEELE into.

It would take them days to notice...

Section 2 is IMHO a joke. And despite his critical role in the plans, Gendo and the others really don't seem to care all that much about him. This is doubly true of Misato in the remake IMHO.

^ This. An NGE/Neverending Story crossover sounds awesome. A myst crossover is just odd.

Well, by its nature Myst lends itself well to crossovers.

A Shinji who knows enough to look underneath the underneath?

Or just some poor schmuck that gets spoiler sealed into the Red or Blue book?
