Well, Souma definitely lit a fire under Erina's ass, and Azami is being a jackass, having already decided that Erina is going to fail, because Souma's appetizer was apparently horrible.

It should happen but again, this is the writer who geared the finals of the Autumn elections to be the moment of Souma's victory only to go "Lol, rival must win" without anything to actually provably justify it.

Yeah, did NOT see squid and peanutbutter combo coming at all. That was rather amusing experience.
The fact that Azami even dismissed the dish out of hand, only to have his daughter openly mock him for it, was amazing for me to see.
Let's see how the judges respond, since the incomplete version was enough to get the 1st and 2nd Seat to acknowledge Erina's dish.

Azami isn't doing a damn thing, other than lament how his daughter has "sullied" herself. Still holding that torch for Jouchirou, it seems.
...makes me wonder is Souma is either amused or annoyed that Erina copied his dish from his school application test. That was a nice call back.

If I had to guess, probably towards a Tootsuki vs rival schools arc as the next major thing. If there are any other institutions in Japan or abroad that might want to have a go at Tootsuki, I could see them smelling blood in the water right now and going for it. Senzaemon being deposed by his own student council might have been cause enough, but this latest development takes the cake in that respect.
Yeah, Kenichi's ending was definitely rushed, and it ended up worse for it in my opinion.
Still, I have no problems with this so far. Though it seems Erina's position as the new Headmaster isn't fully secured yet, if what she's saying is true.
And man, Tadokoro actually managed to get into Elite Ten. Sure, she's 10th seat, but still.
