I think we're all adult enough to take a dirty pun or two.

So! Shokugeki no Souma, AKA 'Yakitate Japan! without the Pan'. Or 'Toriko without the homosexuality', maybe? Anyone wants to write their comments on the series?

Yeah that's about how I would describe it. Drawn by Tosh, a porn artist and full of fanservice, especially when the food is eaten.

It's doing okay for a new series, above things like Hungry Joker so it should last at least 50 chapters. I look forward to it every week.

It definitely has potential. Although, because of his background is it wrong to assume there will be harem brought in through his orgasmic cooking?

... I think I'm going to try and cook what appears in this. Unlike Toriko, the ingredients actually exist.

Edit: ... Or maybe not. Incredible. One sentence. ONE. SENTENCE. And this has already lost all attractive for me.

"The secret to good cooking is finding a woman you want to give all your food to."

... COME OOOOOOOOOOOOOON! :headbanger: :headbanger: :headbanger: IT'S NOT ONLY CORNY, IT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SEEEEEEENSE! STOP! PUTTING! ROMANCE! SUBPLOTS! IN THE FUCKING! FIRST! CHAPTEEEEEEEEEEEEERS!

I internally translated it as, "Find inspiration to create great food along with the abject failures." For Souma's father, that happened to be his wife.

Don't worry, it so far looks like Souma isn't really seeing girls as anything but study partners, guinea pigs, and opponents.

And that's the other extreme of the spectrum. Isn't there a mid way? Just once, once, ONCE, I'd like to see a person acting like... A PERSON! No falling for the first girl, no foreshadowing about the destined couple, NOTHIIIIING! LET IT HAPPEN LIKE IN FUCKING! NORMAL! LIFE!

It's a manga, a shounen manga at that. Name one shounen manga that doesn't take extremes. As it is, it's pretty hilarious, and doesn't feel as tedious as Toriko.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Great Teacher Onizuka, Shonan Jun Ai Ni Gumi, Full Metal Alchemist, Ichigo 100%...

Goddamnit, stop trying to push my berserk button there. I've made it clear that the extreme it went to was in going full retard in its epilogue, making an otherwise likeable protagonist seem like an asshole in roughly 5 pages.

BTW, at least of those series you were also mentioning are Seinen manga. Not Shonen.

Bah, I am still going to saying that Ichigo 100% ending was not bad. I was go as far as to say that it was good.

It was at least 500% better than Ai Yori Aoshi's ending.

I think you guys misinterpreted the secret of good food. What it actually said was this.

"The secret to become a good chef is...

Meeting a woman that will make you

Want to give all the food that you make to her---

Terrible..."

At least that means we know who the love interest is.

If you're trying to say that the love interest is the girl who gets his culinary "experiments," that plan falls flat due to the very first chapter. So we should rest somewhat easier. Though the rest of the Polar Star Dormitory's commentary serves as a possible baiting before another switch.

No, I think the evil girl is the one who will get his terrible food. After all he has to want her to have tterrible food. As long as he isn't in a contest she's fair game.

Italian rival get! And full color splash of Nikumi and the Don RS head working on food.

Rival perhaps, but I don't expect Souma to lose right now. Doesn't seem like the right time for that yet. He'll have something up his sleeve next chapter.

He's not going to lose, but he doesn't have to win. He just has to be good enough.

I don't get the hate. Having someone in mind you want to taste your food is perfectly valid as a motivation, although at currently, the MC seems to have no one in particular in mind. He just wants to be #1.

Manga is a riot so far, really enjoying it.

Erina seems to be the closest to it, as he declared that he is going to make her admit his food isn't crap one way or another. Nikumi and Fueeehhh-chan are more like companions for now.

Latest chapter is up. Damn, we now have food opera being performed alongside foodgasms.

Manliest duck ever.

Draw it is.

For a moment there, I thought we'd have a Love Hina-class hot spring encounter, but apparently that will be given its own chapter or something. (That is, a hot spring without food triggering it.)

Speaking of which! We already know Erina, Nikumi, Fueeeeh!, and the rest of the Polar Star girls are going to be in a hot spring together at some point (though of course Erina is too regal for that). Any kind of cooks you guys would like to see in this?

Also, the series' first volume has two extra chapters, being the original pitch and an extra chapter with the first chapter's girl - probably Souma's 'test subject' of the time.
