Overall, I thought it was ok. I think Darkseid was a huge jobber, though. But what I really liked was the very end. How Clark ran up to the roof, did the cliche "take off the shirt revealing Superman costume," and was played out through the credits by the original John Williams music. FUCK YES. That's pretty much exactly how I wanted it to end.

It was decent. Part one was a solid first half for what it showed. It was fluffy and light hearted, pretty much what I expected. The second half had awesome parts and some iffy parts.

Didn't like the climax, there wasn't enough dramatic music during the save.

The whole scene where Johnathan Kent gives him the suit and Jor-El was all like "I'm proud" was pretty much the best scene other than the LEX scene at the start of part II.

Airplane scene made my Nostalgia goggles fog. I was like "this looks very, very familiar..."

Loved the end scene with music as well. I was all like "FUCK YEAH" when the music started.

What happened to Lex tho'... they could have handled it better.

All in all, it was one of the better season finales. A bit better than last one and way, way better than season 8's. I think it matches season 7's finale impact.

For those of you interested, the series finale is Here. I am very pleased. Though without context, the scene does seem a bit unusual. It's not something you could watch out of context like certain scenes from other shows and movies involving Superman saving the day.

As to my thoughts about Smallville in general: It was pretty good. It definitely stumbled in the fifth and some of the sixth seasons, but in general I couldn't be more pleased with a live-action superhero tv show. My only major problem with it is that Clark already defeated most of his major enemies from the comics, so I don't know who would be a good villain later on. Also, many of his actions and some of his personality, even now, aren't very conductive to being Superman. Finally, he looks odd in his Superman outfit. But that could just be because I'm so used to seeing Tom Welling in regular clothes.
