So Good, you'll read it

Alright everyone. This is the thread that I dread to post, but am very serious about.

I was chatting with a friend of mine, and she(yaoi fangirl) told me that yaoi is better than straight because of the bonding process between guys is, I quote, "beautifully mo-e."

She even challenged me, saying that there must be a yaoi fic that even I could read and say it was good. I say it doesn't exist.

Well then. According to her, there are these fabled items of fanfiction out there, this "good yaoi." However, I dread to go read through each and every piece of yaoi fanfiction I come across(as I would probably die of explosive brain hemorrhage), instead, I ask you, my fellow TFF members, to post up some *shudder* yaoi fics that even you would consider good. I expect on this anti-yaoi forum, such a fic would automatically have to breech several high standards on top of the automatic anti-yaoi glass ceiling.

I know this task may be distasteful to you, and we may lose many souls in this task, but it must be done. This challenge cannot go unanswered.

If there exists good yaoi, I am not aware of it...
Or maybe my brain just refuses to process the possibility of it existing...

Who knows.... :huh.:

If your friend likes yaoi so much have her find her favorite story and see if she's right.

I took your suggestion to heart, and she sent me this one.

Thing is, its a good sized fic(100k+ words), and I find myself rather reluctant to read it.

I did read the first chapter, and it seems well written enough, but I guess I'll have to get beyond this poke of the stick and delve deeper into this insidious tumor in order to see if she's right or not.

Ripple Effect is probably one of the best Naruto stories I've ever read. I don't think you will regret it. Also, the story doesn't put most of the emphasis on romantic attachments. It is primarily on team 7.

Because I love the story so much and found another thread to advertise!

Crossing Barriers by TheBetanWerecat
Fandom: Gundam SEED; Gundam WING/AC; Crossover
Awesomeness Rating: 10/10.

(highly non-disturbing, non-intrusive yaoi content with a hell of an explaination and justification. Read it, it's worth it.)

The best part is it is so none intrusive if she had never added it to the story it would have made no difference to the plot.

Teamwork by Asuka Kureru

Another of those "Is so damn awesome that it's worth rereading it thrice!"

Oh yeah. I posted the link in the Recommended Fics thread awhile ago. If you like RE, you should check her livejournals reimars & rayemars for the sequal/spinoffs: Tides & The Same Ocean.

Tides deals primarally with Ichiro and Megumi, two OC's that were intro'd in the last few chaps of RE. The Same Ocean deals with Kaimi, Sasuke and Hinata's daughter, after she returns to Konoha after living with Ichiro and Megumi for a few years, training as an Oto-nin.

While Tides & The Same Ocean do deal with primarilly OC's, rayemars has given them life like few authors can.

I also have to suggest Rosemary for Rememberance by Sintari. The yaoi isn't the primary focus, but it's there.

There's also Not Heaven by Anria. It's Gaara/Naruto. I like it because it's not one of those 'OMG! I LUV YOU!' fics.

The romance is slow and barely there; it's more like a charactor introspective piece.

Immolo, actually, eventually, it will matter to the plot. :)
What?! Yaoi actually mattering to the plot? Surely you jest!

... Most yaoi doesn't have a plot. :p

But the best authors are the ones who can make the plot first, and the romance secondary.

Given that TBWC is the author of the fic in question - and that there is a good reason for me lauding the qualities of said fic (the reason is: "It's awesome, so go and read it.") - I firmly believe that at least something sinister and evil will spring from the reason why the man-love in CB is happening.

Knowing the cruelly unforgiving universe of GW/AC and what I have observed when it comes to TBWC's penchant for realism I hope that not just "something sinister and evil" will take place, but something Very Sinister and Evil (complete with capitals).

I prefer the idea that things will be ruthlessly pragmatic. I'm not into sinister and evil. Mind, I've known some who couldn't tell the difference . . . . . .

Uhm, I call subconscious hormonal mindcontrol "Sinister Evil". Anything in the same vein will therefore receive the same tag.
Still, your fics are of that kind where I break into minor fits of Squee-age when I see the update notification in the inbox :)

(And "Ruthlessly Pragmatic" is the same as Sinister Evil when the one in control of the money and thus the operation is a black-hearted bastard of the highest caliber (old man Dekim B.)

Uhm. I'll give that one a thought. And I give you a clue to the word choice since you've read my other story; Roland Ito.
