Soundtrack Music

Has anyone else been noticing that more and more music from videogames is being used in a lot of places on TV- particularly from both the Dragon Age and Mass Effect soundtracks. WWE, a few months back, used "Fereldan At War" to advertise a feud between Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt and "A Cerberus Agent" on the commercial for a spy movie. I've heard others, but those are the ones at the top of my head.

Yes. It's not surprising to be honest. Games have become mainstream, and by extension, so has the music from them.

Modern games are far from the old days with midi and wav music files. The themes are just as complex as any in film or theater, more so in many cases due to the necessity of game design. Music has to be made to fit the scene, and where it's static in a film, it often vary quite a bit in games.

I'm surprised it took this long to be honest. We've had fully orchestrated games since the PS2 and a lot of really great music since. Now that pretty much everyone plays some form of video game, it's natural that elements would make their way into other media.

You'll probably see more and more of this sort of thing in the future.

I just thought it was weird and extremely cool, though most of the songs have been from either the Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2 & 3 Soundtracks.
