As you may recall, in the background notes in Negima, they told us about the story where the Shuukuchi came from. Well, I did some digging, and found a copy of the book that has that, and other stories of Taoist Immortals and Sages.
The book is To Live as Long as Heaven and Earth by Robert Ford Campany. ISBN: 0520230345
The guy who is given the Shuukuchi (though they don't use the Japanese name, just mentioning 'shrinking the land') also apparently could be in multiple locations at the same time.
Book's rather expensive, but I found a copy through interlibrary loan.
