Star Wars: OR + CIS vs Empire; Open AU Idea

Original thread.

In Year 36 after the Great Resynchronization (GRS), wormholes open in twelve systems in the galaxy:

Corellia
Tatooine
Anoat
Duro
Kuat
Bestine
Alderaan
Mandalore
Serenno
Y'Toub
Ryloth
Orron

These wormholes lead to those same systems, in a parallel dimension, in which it is 14 GRS.

Neither version of Palpatine is willing to take orders from the other, nor allow such an obvious threat to live on his doorstep. CW-era Sidious orders Dooku and the Separatist Council to declare that this extra-dimensional Galactic Empire is a far greater threat than the Republic, and thus they will ally with the lesser of two evils (or, the devils they know, in other words). Chancellor Palpatine also refers Emperor Palpatine as his 'evil, mirror universe counterpart', to try to protect his reputation from the revelations that people in the other universe could bring (not that this will necessarily help all that much).

Meanwhile, the Hutts, the Mandalorians, and the Corporate Sector have to figure out what side they're on, as do the Rebels... and how will Anakin (CW CGI version, as he's less emo than the movie version) feel, when he meets the Skywalkers of this dark timeline? (Imagine how he and Vader will react to each-other, and how Vader will respond to a living Padme who will never be his.)

What to say will Yoda have, when meet himself, he does?

How will OR Alderaan react to the asteroid belt where Empire Alderaan should to be? (Very badly, I suspect, and even worse when they find out why.)

One thing to remember about the Empire, is that unless you're under Vader's command, promotion is likely more due to political reliability and connections, than competence. In Vader's forces, its more the other way around.

So, don't assume that the OR+CIS are at an insurmountable disadvantage.

Thoughts?
