Erza, I know that you need to get stronger, and I know that you want to get stronger but don't forget why you want to get stronger. Power is necessary but don't lose sight of what is really important.

This...is really.....REALLY bad for the Rebellion. In the original EU Tie Defender weren't a thing until around the time of Endor...and even then they were tied up dealing with a Rogue Grand admiral. To have those ships this early...could've spelled the end for all resistance. You put 12-24 of those on every Star Destroyer (total TIE complement is 72 if memory serves) and the Rebel fighters won't stand a chance. I've flown that thing in TIE Fighter....and it doesn't 'even the odds' it outclasses anything the Rebellion can field. It's faster, better armed and better shielded than any other fighter in space (at that time).

I wonder if they are going to keep them like canon of old. In the older series one T/D cost about as much as a squadron of T/Fs along with the required maintence on them.  They also required a great deal of training to be of use.

They're also skipping the Tie Advance/Avenger which should be the step between what would be current designs in Rebels and this thing. Darth Vader's New Hope ship was supposed to be a prototype for them, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to skip over them right to the Defender this way. They should have been designing the Tie Avengers here instead, as cool as the Defender is, it's out of place here and at the time, the Avenger would have been seen as just as much of a threat as it is also shielded and has a hyperdrive and missiles on in it.

Since Thrawn is responsible for this, they'll likely claim it's an example of his radical thinking.

An interesting bit of Trivia came out in Rebels Recon. The first Mandalorian ever inducted into the Jedi Order (and the creator of the dark saber) was named Tar Vizlsa, and he lived over a 1,000 years ago.

Damn really enjoyed that last episode. I like how they actually had an epilogue that explained what happened to all the characters afterwards. not going to spoil anything but it was a good end to the series.
