All right, going to post what information we have....along with some fanart supposedly showing some costumes.

The state of the galaxy at the beginning of TLJ

For Snoke, the loss of the Starkiller Base was as significant as his wins. His forces are no longer a secret to the galaxy at large. Those who used to laugh at the idea that The First Order was a threat are either dead or no longer laughing. The Cold War-style standoff is publicly over after the full-on assault on the Republic and the senate. The galaxy no longer views Snoke as someone that is irrelevant on the galactic stage. The galaxy knows he and his cronies are maniacal zealots and they should be feared for better or worse. The galaxy seems to mostly understand that the First Order is eventually coming to conquer its worlds and those worlds have to fall in line or resist. Most understand that war has returned and the perceived era of peace is over.

Snoke understands that everything the First Order used to do in secret is no longer an option and a very overt war is on the horizon. Unfortunately, The Republic has completely collapsed after being attacked by Starkiller Base in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The galaxy is in complete disarray. The galaxy understands that everyone has to pick a side now.

General Organa no longer stands alone in her determination that the First Order is the greatest threat to freedom and democracy in the galaxy and the only choice they have left is to fight.

Boyega and Ridley shared their favorite memories of filming Episode VIII with Carrie Fisher — recalling how the late actress helped them blow off steam in between takes.

“I love to sing and Carrie loves to sing so we would just sit there and sing together,” Ridley told PEOPLE on Friday at the Star Wars Celebration Day in Orlando. “There’s some behind-the-scene footage of us dancing as well, it was a bit like that but with singing.”

.............

Boyega said he would go to Fisher whenever he wanted a secret cheat day from his strict diet and workout regime he had to stick to while filming.

“I’d been eating really healthy and clean, working out all the time, and I just wanted a chocolate bar, ” he recalled. “I went to Carrie’s trailer because that was the place to go to. I said, ‘I’m really hungry and I’m sick of eating chicken breasts and salad’ and she goes, ‘Oh! Go to my fridge and get something.”

The actor said opening her fridge was just short of entering into a candy store. “There was like Twix bars and junk food galore,” he said. “Carrie was like, ‘I was waiting for you to fail!”

Whether they actually get that reunion in The Last Jedi isn’t a given, though. “It’s nice seeing them on the cover though. Even if all we have is that,” Johnson says.

and creation.

“This time you get to see him, as in his real presence,” says Serkis, who plays the towering Snoke via performance capture. “In the previous movie we saw him as this huge hologram and tele-presence, and you get to meet him in the flesh this time.”

Serkis describes a cruel master, a 9-foot-tall alien humanoid who disparages and dominates his two lieutenants: Kylo Ren (played by Adam Driver) and General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson.) He’s a predator who identifies weakness and exploits it, drawing the young and promising to his side with promises of power, then using and discarding his protégés when they are no longer of use.

*****

“His training of Kylo Ren is not yielding what he wants,” Serkis says. “Therefore his anger towards Kylo Ren is intensified because he can’t bear weakness in others. Part of the manipulation is goading him with Hux and playing them off against each other.”

Maybe the effect of that pairing has worn off, however. Snoke may need to start goading Kylo Ren with another disciple. (Watch yourself, Rey.)

Snoke has an abiding rage toward the Galactic Republic, which he devastated in The Force Awakens by annihilating its capital with a blast from Starkiller Base. And now that anger has shifted toward the wounded Republic’s military force — the Resistance.

“The thing about Snoke is that he is extremely strong with the Force, the dark side of the Force. He’s terribly powerful, of course. But he is also a very vulnerable and wounded character,” Serkis says. “He has suffered and he has suffered injury. The way that his malevolence comes out is in reaction to that. His hatred of the Resistance is fueled by what’s happened to him personally.”

Just got back from Last Jedi. No spoilers here.

Was good, not as much of a retread as Force Awakens, but still lifts a bit here and there.

It very much wants to be the Empire Strikes Back of this new trilogy, and doesn't quite pull it off.

It also borrows a bit more than it probably should have from Return of the Jedi.

A lot happens in this movie and it's a bit to unpack. I'm not certain where I'd rank it in the grand scope of things and will probably need to watch it at least one more time to really figure that out. When it's good it's really good, but there are also several sequences that didn't need to be there at all, but are anyway. The movie definitely could have shaved off a half hour of its run time and probably would have been better as a result.

For example, the porgs [the bird things in all the trailers] are pretty pointless. They don't seem out of place in the world the inhabit, but are obviously only in the movie to sell toys. I didn't mind it as they aren't ever plot relevant or anything and don't take over large parts of the movie the way the Ewoks did.

It also kind of overdoes screwing with the audience a little and pushes it. I don't think it breaks the movie, but it does seem to take great glee in putting in several twists, some of which were needed, and a few of which kinda weren't.

It has a strong opening, but the last act is definitely the best part of the film. It kind of meanders in the middle a bit as some of the multiple plot threads don't work as well as others, but comes back together for a stellar finale.

The weakest part is easily Finn and Rose's mission. It's a shame because both actors are great and have good chemistry, but the sequence itself is weak. Rose in particular stands out as a newcomer. It has a great payoff in the finale, but the bulk of it when they go to the planet for their mission is the best place to go take a piss and not miss much.

Overall, this is worth watching in a theater for sure. As I said, when it's good, it's really good. It does drag some things out and have a bit too much unnecessary stuff crammed in. The good is more than worth putting up with the few things that don't work.

I just finished TLJ, good movie overall with some bits that didn't quite work. Visually it's beautiful, and the new possibilities presented by the use of the force in this film are frankly enticing. I'm going to watch it again tomorrow so I'll have more thoughts after a second viewing.

Was the Halo 5 of Star wars. It was good but too much hype for it's own good. Still salty for the luke thing but that's more on me that in the movie

I've seen the movie twice now and it was better on a second viewing...just...too much happening initially for me to process. I will say that from this film I fully understand WHY Rian Johnson was allowed to create a trilogy and I look forward to what he does. That said, the hype did hurt it a bit....as I was expecting the movie to end all movies...but just got a really good Star Wars film instead.

I will say...if I EVER dress as a Jedi Master for ANY Reason....I'm dressing as Luke did during his big moment...that just seemed perfect...not the robes of the prequel era Jedi...but not the black number he wore in ROTJ...I think it was a black overtop and a white undershirt....keeping the balance as a Jedi should.

I must admit....I have NO idea what the next movie will do...especially now that Carrie Fisher is gone...with her I could see a really good way forward but now.....

Anyways....some concerns for the future.

Rose and Finn....hooboy....I understand why she did what she did but the look on Finn's face afterwards....I mean he's a good guy and won't leave a friend behind...but...she might be asking for more than he's willing to give. Meanwhile...that look Rey gave the pair in the end....well...hopefully this dosen't turn into a love triangle.

It was okay.

Luke stuff was solid. Some of it was iffy when it was going on but by the end, it just felt like it worked for Luke's character. Liking that they pretty much rolled back the midichlorians and went with space-magic again.

Rey's stuff is in progress. Not sure where they are going with thing. Thinking the pageantry of the force and the parentage thing is more than what was shown.

They could have done more with the Leia stuff. Handing the torch down works nicely.

Rest of it was alright.

Mark Hamill will return for IX, as will Carrie Fisher, using previously shot but unused footage from VII.

We all knew Luke was going to be a Force Ghost.

I'm guessing they'll use that footage to give us a proper death scene for Leia. Perhaps a little dialogue, but I don't think they'll be able to stretch what they have very far.

I feel like it might be better to just wait for a DVD release for this one.

I liked TLJ but with all the backlash I doubt they're going to make the new movie like that one. If they make it like TFA I'll be disappointed. I'm gonna wait until the reviews come out before deciding whether to see it in theaters.
